43M up 71% YTD
Two years ago, I decided to dip my toes into picking individual stocks, which eventually led me down the rabbit hole of learning about options and different trading strategies. Before that, I didn’t have much investing or trading knowledge and was mostly just putting money into index funds.
Fast forward to today, and my portfolio is up 71% YTD. As you can see, the majority of my gains have come this year as last year was really about learning, experimenting, and figuring out what worked for me.
My strategy has mostly been a mix of buying high-conviction growth stocks, using LEAPS when I want additional leverage, and selling cash-secured puts and covered calls to generate premium. I’m fairly aggressive when I have strong conviction, but I’ve also learned the importance of taking profits along the way now.
After experiencing a few significant drawdowns over the past 24 months, I’m trying to become more disciplined about managing risk and protecting gains, especially as the portfolio has grown. Still lots to learn, but it’s been a pretty rewarding two years.
