MiSTer for a young child

I am thinking of getting a MiSTer, mostly for myself but I think it could be a good way to introduce my child (almost five years old) to video games. I think it would be a good intro due to it being free from ads and internet access.

I realize it is pretty complicated for that age, but I was thinking of buying nfc stickers and sticking them to pieces of carboard, printing box art and taping to them. This would of course make choosing games simpler and more physical. It would also prevent the child from having a massive list of games to choose from, without limiting my own choices. The way I am picturing it I would start with giving them 3-5 games and gradually adding to their collection depending on their interest.

Two questions:

  1. Is it really that simple, when you have set it up, to operate? Simple as turning on and putting the nfc tag close to the reader.

  2. I was thinking of going for the Superstation One. I just saw a teardown video where they talked about its nfc reader not being compatible with nfc cards, but I suspect my method, with the circular nfc stickers on carboard, would work, right?
