Orchestra Kimono

Dressed a little formally. The theme was a monochromic Nier Automata since the concert series has come to the US. I dont get a chance to do this very much, but it was so fun to try something less casual! My first nijudaiko with fukuro obi. (Did I make any obvious mistakes?)

If you live in America, or another non-Japanese country, where do you find the opportunity to wear kimono?

Keeping busy, staying sane, avoid the haters

Just to start off, I cleaned this hood really well before I used it for this purpose! It has high air flow and dries things really quickly. It is also outside the hood, not inside.

My job is really amazing. I'm a lab monkey and I enjoy what I do. Problem is, there are busy nights and slow nights depending on what the ER gets. It's rural so it's mostly slow nights, if I'm honest. That's means a lot of downtime. I have a laundry list of other chores to do and I thrive on the repetitive completion of these things at the same time every evening. Utter bliss.

Except I crave brain stimulation. It's the only thing unfulling in my line of work. There are brief times with lots of problem solving and interesting cases to work up and then there is hours upon hours of silence. I have no coworkers except the "hellos" at sample drop off(and soon it'll be a tube system and no one will come say hello at all). It's really hard to not die of brain rot without stimulation all night!

Knitting has really been the absolute best for my situation. Praise be to my boss and the occasional drive by coworker who does not make a big deal out of it. I hit my TATs and my communication times with ease and all my chores are complete and well done. But there are bitter people out there and weirdo C-suite types who think it's "unprofessional" or puke the line "if you have time to lean...". At previous, very similar jobs because I love nightshift, this has been an issue. I've been written up for doodling on notepads while on the phone on hold with The Lab Which Shall Not be Named...

That's all just a long winded way to say, hey look at this cool lacey silk shawl I knit! I've been toiling for months and months on it and it's not finished just yet. I just wanted to check the size and see it off the cramped needles I've been using... Wowie it's pretty! Anyone else survive the nights with knitting or crocheting?

Excuse the cell phone photos. Unfortunately I do not have any pathologist or senior tech to ask and I feel weak on calling and classifying abnormal lymphs. I've already made my call on how to report and of course a path will review in the morning... but I'd love some feedback from fellow techs.

Pt is diagnosed CLL but white count is newly doubled to 34*10^3 and this might be the scariest slide I've ever seen as a semi-baby tech. How would you approach what cells are what?
