Remarkable Voice at nearly 82. THE Voice of Yes.

Jon and the Band Geeks were firing on all cylinders in Anaheim last night. Incredible show. Got to hear them play songs from: The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Tales from Topographic Oceans, Relayer, Going for the One, True and the upcoming Band Geeks album. Jane was front and center, rocking out as she always does…love the interplay between Jon and Jane…the few times Jon would forget a few words or his timing was off…he would mouth to her something playful. They have each others backs and are a true love story. That Jane is such a Yes fan is really cool.

Drumming was very muscular and an integral part of the rhythm section with Richie. Guitar playing was Steve Howe circa 2004. Both masters of their crafts. Keyboards were very good, but not quite Rick Wakeman. Very good, but a little weaker compared to guitar and drumming. Richie on bass does his best to be a great showman as the Master Chris Squire would.

All in all, the greatest iteration of Yes since they last played in 2004.

Jon Anderson is AMAZING.

Jon Anderson & Band Geeks show, Anaheim, CA

Amazing show tonight. Capacity crowd. Highlights were a near flawless Close to the Edge and an incredible Leaves of Green.

CTTE: Band played it very tight and not slowed down. Jon’s voice remains incredible. He was firing on all cylinders…lots of energy, hitting the high notes (amazing!) and great harmonies. They have modified the crescendo after “I get up…I get down” from a magnificent organ crescendo to more of a drum crescendo. Still excellent…just different. I’m cool with that.

LEAVES OF GREEN: I swear, if i closed my eyes and then opened them, I’d be expecting to see Steve Howe himself playing. This guy has Steve’s parts down perfectly. Then Jon started singing this snippet from TFTO, which was probably my personal highlight of the show.

Jon is in great form, magnificent actually. His and Jane’s interaction is beautiful. She not only loves him with all her heart, she is his greatest fan. Lovely to see them together. The Band Geeks were also on fire tonight. Richie ever the showman. The drummer is incredible, powerful and like a young Alan White.

GO SEE THEM…WELL WORTH IT!
