I’m going into my senior year of my undergraduate program in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and Audiology. I’ve really been enjoying mystudies, but I haven’t felt drawn to clinical work.
I recently completed a two-week Sign Language immersion program at Gallaudet University, and it was a wonderful experience. It helpedme realize that I definitely don’t want to pursue speech therapy.
Now I’m wondering if I’d rather shift my career goals from clinical work to research.
I’d love to contribute to the growing body ofknowledge on the benefits of sign language—or, dare I say, the consequences of not knowing it. 👀
Part of me wants to stick with my current plan for graduate school and then continue on to a Ph.D. so I can research this area. But another partof me wonders if I should switch my graduatestudies to linguistics with an emphasis on bimodallanguage use, or perhaps another related field.
I’d love to be a college professor someday.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
