Former Erie County narcotics chief charged with firearm storage violation after Niagara Square incident
Former narcotics chief DJ Granville has now been given an appearance ticket for the misdemeanor charge of 1st degree Failure to Safely Store Firearms. The police report details how investigators found a backpack in the abandoned vehicle containing the loaded Glock pistol, as well as a badge, work ID, cell phone, and other items. WBEN reports in an article that the abandoned car is registered to Buffalo Biodiesel, the company that Granville has been employed by after his retirement from the Sheriff’s department. A federal court officer called 911 to report the abandoned vehicle and told the dispatcher that he saw a white male get out of the car and walk towards another light colored sedan. The maximum sentence for a Class A misdemeanor is 1 year imprisonment and/or a $1,000 fine.
