I took a pay cut - Did I make the right decision?
I recently accepted an offer from a global recruiting & staffing firm and I was assigned to support the local PH market.
Previous company:
• Last drawn salary - ₱36,900 basic + ₱3K non-taxable allowance.
• Dayshift schedule
• x2 a month onsite
• No merit increase and annual bonus this year due to layoffs since 2022.
New company:
• Salary offer - ₱34,000 + ₱5K non-taxable allowance.
• Dayshift schedule
• x2 a month onsite
• Commission per hire (on top of basic salary)
• No layoffs since their Manila Team is still growing.
• I was informed that there’s growth for employees who performs well and exceed expectations.
I mainly accepted due to WFH flexibility and dayshift schedule. During the interview, I can sense that the culture is good despite the target driven nature of the role.
The job market right now is very saturated especially for recruitment and TA roles. Majority of the openings are for x3 a week hybrid sched and night shift schedule.
I’m thankful for getting the job but I was let down from the pay cut of my basic pay :(
