My manager said I’m getting paid more than expected for my role. Anyone here in project delivery who can weigh in?

About me: 30M, currently working as an IT Project Delivery Lead in the banking/insurance industry, earning 85K monthly. Overall 4 years of experience in project delivery.

1 year na ako sa current employer ko, and recently nagkaroon ako ng touchpoint with my manager. One of the topics we discussed was my salary. She mentioned na I’m earning way more than expected for my role — overpaid daw ako. Hindi ko siya masyadong inisip at the time, pero ngayon napapaisip na rin ako…overpaid nga ba ako? Haha.

For context, I handle end-to-end delivery of projects — from requirements gathering hanggang stabilization period. I may not be doing the hands-on work, pero I make sure that everything and everyone is enabled and is aligned on what’s happening. I handle timeline forecasting and constant alignment with the business on anything related to the project. And hindi lang ito for a single initiative, but multiple ones.

What I don’t handle is budgeting and some other responsibilities typically owned by an IT Project Manager. More on day-to-day operations and on-the-ground execution ako — I’m responsible for delivery, while the Project Manager remains accountable.

Am I overpaid?

Comfortable na sa current role, but compensation growth feels slow. Should I accept a new offer even if it means starting all over again?

Need insights lang sana from people who experienced moving from one bank to another while still being relatively comfortable sa current role. The new role is very similar lang din sa ginagawa ko ngayon, but nasa kabilang side na ako ng process.

Right now, okay talaga current environment ko:

  • good boss/team
  • manageable workload
  • flexible setup
  • promotion daw by next year Q1 as part of counteroffer discussion (siguro mga around +15 to 20%)
  • stable and comfortable na ako overall

Current comp ko roughly:

  • around 48k basic with 16-month setup
  • around 8k monthly allowance (rice allowance, etc.)
  • convertible SLs annually
  • variable bonuses usually around x2-x2.5 ng monthly basic

Then I received another offer:

  • 83k basic (max budget na after nego)
  • effectively around ~97k gross monthly dahil monthly distributed yung ibang guaranteed month pay
  • flexible setup din
  • closer sa current home so easier commute

If monthly gross lang titignan, around +60% increase siya which malaking bagay for cashflow and long-term finances. Pero if annual package comparison including current bonuses/allowances, parang around +29% vs sa guaranteed pay ng new yung magiging difference nalang, then maybe around +35-40% if isasama estimated variable bonuses nung new role. Very similar din ng non-monetary benefits.

Wala naman akong major issue sa current company aside from compensation growth feeling slower than market. Pero at the same time, parang sayang din yung opportunity habang nasa 20s palang ako.

Siguro part din bakit mahirap magdecide is maganda na kasi current performance and established na ako sa current role. More on maintaining nalang versus starting over again sa bagong systems, processes, people, expectations, etc. Pero during the interviews, mukhang mabait naman yung magiging boss ko and surprisingly same yung vibes compared nung time na ininterview ako sa current company ko before.

account manager salary thoughts?

Hi mga ka-corpochika, gusto ko lang sana makahingi ng perspective if okay na ba yung current situation ko or if underpaid/underleveled pa rin ako for what I do.

31M , earning 100k monthly working in IT sales here in the PH. Majority ng work ko is staff augmentation/accounts management but I also handle other client-facing responsibilities, account coordination, admin work, internal follow-ups, and medyo heavy rin sa relationship management.

Parang halo siya ng sales, account management, operations, and recruitment coordination at times. I handle enterprise clients and usually ako rin taga-asikaso end-to-end minsan.

Curious lang ako:
• Magkano usually market rate for this type of role ngayon?

Would appreciate honest insights especially from people in IT services, staffing, consulting, or tech sales. Thanks!

Certificate of Employment

I am currently employed and my prospective employer is requiring me to submit a certificate of employment as part of their preemployment requirements. Won’t this affect my relationship with my current employee shall my prospective company backed out? How can I approach this situation better?

Update: I chose HSBC over Wells Fargo and so far no regrets

Ako po yung nag-post before asking whether HSBC or
Wells Fargo ang pipillin ko since I passed the final interview for both.

Thank you sa lahat ng nagbigay ng advice before. Na appreciate ko po lahat. In the end, I chose HSBC mainly because mas malapit siya sa amin, hybrid setup, may shuttle, and hindi ko na need mag-rent. Medyo risky lang siya for me kasi ang dami kong what ifs haha given na marami akong nababasa rito na nauurong pa start date nila. Fortunately, after ko i-decline yung WF offer, on the same day naka-receive ako ng start date from HSBC onboarding team. Kinabahan pa rin ako noon thinking, "What if mag failed vetting ko?"

But a few days later, I officially received the offer and surprisingly, mas mataas pa yung naging offer nila compared to Wells. Nag start na rin agad on the stated start date.

Mag-one month na ako ngayon and so far, okay na okay yung environment, benefits, and work-life balance sa department ko++++ Ang ganda rin talaga ng facilities and work office compared sa previous companies na napasukan ko. AAAAAT SUPER GANDA NG HMO NILAAAAAA which is non negotiable for me.
Sharing this because I know may iba rin dito na torn between opportunities or takot mag-take ng risk. Minsan, malaking factor din talaga yung convenience, environment, and peace of mind aside from salary alone.

JO DUST for everyone ✨✨

Dilemma

Which one will you choose?

Higher overall compensation package and benefits?
But work is too easy it was like an admin task

Lower overall compensation package and benefits
But there’s a lot of learnings?

I’m just 25 years old

May total of 3 years work experience na ko sa BPO as chat and email support. sa 2nd company ko dun ako mas tumagal, mga 2 years and 3 months din. Then sa isang company naman nagwalk in ako, 20k offer (13 mins away sa bahay naman yung loc, hmo and leave after 1 year, bonuses and management prerogative).

No support system in office

My first job… i came na supportive manager, I have a mentor… and work besties

Now second work ko, 7 months na i dont have a support system. Its giving outcast ako haha.

Well nature ng work is assistant ako ng isang exec. Thinking na lang na eh baka its the nature of the job kaya ganto.

Support system came naturally sa first job ko but now wala. Pero alam ko naman na your officemates are not your friends. Sadyang hay, nasanay lang talaga ako sa first work ko na may kasama ako. Dito kasi loner talaga ako, everyday onsite pa pasok ko.

Vent out lang ito, heavy na feels ko 🤣✌️i know comparison is thief of the joy.. pero hirap pag ok last company’s environment.

Anyway reason why im here sa second job is change industry lang but realized now stability is more important kesa curiousity sa other industries haha.

Or should I just let it go?

Consistently top performer but still paid lower than newer hires

What would you do if you were consistently a top performer, but started from a lowballed baseline salary, so even after multiple increases, you’re still earning less than newer hires?

Meanwhile, you’re the one training the newbie, they still rely on you for certain aspects of the job, and you also handle higher value and more complex portfolios. On top of that, you’ve taken on additional board/LT facing admin responsibilities outside your actual role.

Would you open this up to your line manager? If yes, how would you approach it professionally?

should i leave my voluntary internship?

organizational comms student in my 2nd internship rn, in human resources for an insurance firm... masaya naman ako at first na i got in cuz it looks like its difficult to get in and i'm working with a lot of masipag na voluntary interns din

all of us are under this one mentor who i have yet to hear from formally pa :/ i dont know if its normal for senior interns to onboard you instead of your mentor but they've become more of my bosses and i noticed that the mentor herself just asks for results or asks if we've hired anybody na .... which is kinda odd to me cuz i was expecting to learn more about handling admin & clerical work (and improving processes for my seniors). we hire and post job opportunities and invite them to orientations that happen at night that you have to attend to check if the people you hired are actually there (sigh)

idk if choosy lang ako but the working hours last until 10 pm, and the expectation is mas active ka from 12 noon until 10pm, cuz thats when everyone else is active... but i feel like its contradictory to the "work on your own time" thing they're promoting. parang kailangan na on ka all the time, and its draining me :/. i have multiple readings per week for four majors and i was hoping to work during the day since i study better at night, pero wala. i've got orgs i care for like volunteering for events/workshops and art advocacy stuff and i'm scared i'll be pulled away from those too

and medyo dumb but i also got kinda tricked?? dun sa job posting kasi they advertised na we'd only have to work a min of 200 hours on our own time pero pagdating ko biglaang 300 pala, and announced on the whim by our mentor pa :/ medyo nakukulangan ako sa professionalism pero sige keri naman. hindi ko alam kung puwede mag change ng ganong required hours kaagad without due process pero sige. but even if we work on our own terms ayon nga my mentor wants results quickly. i dont know if i can sustain meeting their expectations all the time at unhealthy working hours

lastly i also feel bad about what we're tasked to do kasi parang di siya nag-aalign sa dream career ko ;__; but its something i also wanted to try for more opportunities in the future because i do care about org processes and listening to peoples' needs. its unpaid pa, and i think id rather do something unpaid that im happy with rather than something unpaid to expand my options :/

sorry ang haba but tl:dr just miserable, told to work ungodly hours and yield high results even though they promote working at your own time, mentor kinda absent and carried by senior interns, should i quit or see where this goes?

This is not stereotyping pero

Na notice ko lang or nagkakataon lang talaga, again disclaimer lang po ha this is not to generalized but mostly sa mga experience ko lang, out of 7 companies kasi na napasukan ko every time na babae ung naka assign sa akin sa compensation ung magbibigay ng offer automatic kung ano ung una nilang binigay yun na agad and final na ung offer wala nang revisions pero pag lalake (pwede rin gay) pag nag bigay ng JO tapos gsto mo ng higher lage may revision para masunod or meet half way ung expectations mo na asking salary.

Again po ha just like to ask lang if same tayo ng mga na experience during JO na. This is not to stereotype po
