Transitioning from Day Trading to Swing Trading, (NASDAQ/NYSE : US STOCKS) When and How Do You Time Your Entry and Re-Entry?
Hi Everyone
I’m shifting from day trading to swing trading and have a couple of big questions on timing especially when trading the Nasdaq/NYSE US STOCKS.
I’ve heard that many swing traders prep over the weekend setting watchlists and forming hypotheses. And wait for Monday’s daily close (market close) just before closure to either enter their swing or not: if the candle aligns with their idea on the daily chart, they enter afterward. Is that typical, or do you time your entries differently? What is your approach please ? Or the most common ?
Also, I know swing trades aim to hold for bigger moves, but say you hit a target after a couple of days, do you wait for a fresh setup the following week depending on any hypothesis that have not been met, or do you jump into another stock midweek? As long as the daily technicals support the move, let’s say consolidation break out, mean reversion or retest at the ema (8,5,9) etc… I’d love to hear how you manage your week. Do you re-evaluate daily, and how do you time re-entries?
Finally, what’s your personal approach to entry timing and execution? I’m eager to learn from your timing strategies. Thanks for your insight
