Serpentine Belt Help
I have a 2006 Honda Civic EX (1.8-liter SOHC 16-valve i-VTEC 4-cylinder). My alternator went out a week ago and I ordered a new one. I started the process to change it out, and I cannot get the serpentine belt to loosen, no matter how hard I try. I had 2 other people try and it wouldn't budge. The last time we tried loosening the belt, the top part completely broke off. Nothing came lose, so the tensioner seems to still be doing its job, but now it's going to be a lot harder to get this thing to loosen up. I'm just asking for advice on how to go about this. Is there another way to loosen the belt? I spent what little bit I had to get the alternator. I definitely do not have the funds for a shop right now. Attached is a photo of the tensioner prior to the tip being broken off.
