How to become a good mentor
Hey everyone,
I have been thinking about lately about joining my local middle schools FIRST robotics chapter as a mentor and I have a few questions that I didn’t see a FAQ for in the rules.
How do I actually become a mentor? I saw that there was a team near me but I’m not sure how to actually reach out for questions.
I have never thought of myself as a good teacher to kids but loved competing when I was in school. Even more so I just want to inspire kids to learn/grow/fail and chase their dreams. What skills would I need to learn in order to become a good mentor. Pretty sure the coding space has changed dramatically in the past 12 years. Any suggestions on technical skills and people skills would be appreciated.
This is going to sound open ended but what other questions should I be asking myself/community/team to gain a better understanding of what I need to learn.
Sorry if this has been answered before.
