Saturn
Based on Anders Erickson's specs:
1 oz. (30 ml) Tanqueray 10 Gin
1/2 oz. (15 ml) Hayman's Old Tom
1/2 oz. (15 ml) orgeat
1/4 oz. (7.5 ml) passion fruit syrup
1/4 oz. (7.5 ml) John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum
1/2 oz. (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
8 Drops 1:5 Saline Solution
Cherry and lemon peel for garnish
Pour ingredients into the larger shaking tin with a cup full of crushed ice (the serving glassware's worth)
Blend with an immersion blender until it reaches a slushy-like consistency.
Garnish with a cherry and a lemon ribbon (my ribbon ended up pretty wonky).
It was delightful.
Corn N' Oil
2 oz Aged Rum (I used Doorly's 12)
½ oz Falernum
3 Dashes Angostura Bitters
5 Drops Saline
Build in an OF glass with a Large Ice Cube. Squeeze a Lime Coin over and drop it in.
My Mai Tai
The Specs:
1 1⁄2 oz Aged Rum (I used El Supremo 5)
1⁄2 oz Rhum Agricole (Neisson Blanc)
1 oz Lime Juice
Fat 1⁄2 oz Orgeat
7 Drops of 20% Saline
Spent Lime Shell
Ahead of time, Place a double old fashioned glass in the freezer. Put everything in a shaker (along with the lime shell) with one big ol' ice cube and two small ones.
Shake like the devil. Dump it all into the prechilled glass (you may remove the lime shell and place it decorativly as shown).
Fill with crushed ice, garnish with a cocktail cherry and mint. Optionally, turn the lime shell inside out, place the cherry inside, pour some overproof rum into the tiny apparatus and (carefully) set it ablaze.
Demarara Rum
I don't have a Demarara rum and (due to geographic reasons) can't access them easily. A friend is willing to bring me one bottle.
Which is more useful in cocktails as a whole, Hamilton 151 or El Dorado 8/12/other?
I want to get into tiki and I feel these are essential.
For context, I already have: Appleton signature, Wray and nephew overproof, doorlys 12, veritas. Which would you get?
