Got Promoted because of my Rolex Rep
We have a work dinner right after work. Boss picks the seat next to me and can’t help noticing my Sub in between conversations with him. I see his eyes drop on this beautiful green watch and finally after 2 hours or so he pops the question asking - “so you like the Hulk huh, it’s a great choice.” I go - what do you mean, Hulk as in hulk smash from the movies? He says - nooo, your watch is beautiful, in the Rolex community we call it the Hulk, and I say yeah in that context I know what he means and we start talking about watches as he says he’s watch guy too.
He was wearing a Breitling that day and showed me photos of his Batman and Pepsi. I gave him my watch so he can have a closer look and the first question he asked was if I removed any of the links cause the weight felt off and I replied yes. Other than that he was impressed with the piece, even offered to buy it for $20k - but I told him it holds emotional value and is not for sale.
This happened last Friday and as of this Friday he told me I’ll be promoted next Friday since we bonded over watches all week. A 9.5% raise and a senior title.
