KCM story am I cooked?
Went through KCM out of uniform, got randomed, and was directed to TSA PreCheck. I followed the line I was told to go through. The agent told me I needed to finish my water. I’d never gone through KCM out of uniform before, so I wasn’t familiar with how the liquid policy worked outside of uniform and didn’t realize I wasn’t exempt from liquid allowance.
The interaction felt a little tense from the start and the agent seemed like he was having a rough night, so I may have misunderstood some things in the moment.
I asked if crew were allowed liquids and he said no. I dumped the water out, put the empty bottle back in my bag, set my bag on the conveyor belt, and walked through the detector. My bag was then pulled for search from the same agent he immediately pulled out my bag of oversized liquids. I asked if the issue was the amount of liquids and he said yes.
At that point I knew I’d likely have to toss them and realized there was no special privileges for me at that point and since I needed the items in the bag, I asked if it was okay for me to leave and check the bag instead. He said yes and explained it was because I was out of uniform.
I then asked if changing into uniform and coming back would make a difference. He said it was frowned upon. I asked if that was TSA policy, and he said he would report it to my airline and it would be up to them how they wanted to handle it. I said okay, thank you. He then walked me back holding my bag to the KCM entrance. He was talking to the KCM agent after definitely giving off that he was reporting me.
Unfortunately by the time I exited, I no longer had enough time to make it to check my bag since the flight departure was less then 30 minutes. Missing the flight was on me due to timing, and because of that I never attempted to go back through TSA again that night. Am I cooked?
