Just past one year
I got monetized, but I'm really not very good at this. I just publish daily, sometimes twice or three times. I'm making money, but it's really nothing to speak of yet. I'm a talking head type channel that focuses on sports. I started with random NFL games. I rolled for a random number (from 1920 through now), then focused on one game daily. If there was a condensed game, I just talked about the game. If there wasn't a condensed game, I made one. Neither of these things are monetizable. I then started something called "SportsLab100." I picked a team at random and started. I identify the top 100 players for said franchise, then identify the "signature" game for said athlete (no repeats). I then resorted by chronological order, and post one video per day. I started with the Houston Astros, added the Golden State Warriors, and recently folded in the St. Louis Blues. The thing is, this is an NFL-centric channel, but nobody knows it yet.
I started doing these daily talking-head type videos (with no or almost no highlights) and they're not really what I'd call viral, but I'm doing them daily. When the NFL season starts, I'm adding one random NFL team to the mix. This first year of the channel, it's the Carolina Panthers. I live streamed a Panthers tattooing, and that got pretty good engagement (relatively). Since the channel is based on the NFL, I get season tickets for whatever team I'm "covering" for that year. I also make road trips to each of "my" teams. (I change teams once I get to 100).
So I switch from the Astros to the Phillies in March, the Warriors to the Pacers in May, and the Blues to the Devils. Thing is, during the NFL season, I load up the 100 episodes of the NFL to air DURING the NFL season, so everything else slows down. To wit, I do 100 episodes for the Panthers this year, during the NFL season, starting on the day of the Hall of Fame Game. I've got tickets for that too, and I'm planning to stream from there. I've also got tickets to see the Astros later in August, I've got the season tix to the Panthers, and once the schedule is announced, I'm planning one game each in San Francisco for the Warriors and in St. Louis for the Blues. I'm doing this for fun, but the YT channel gives me a pretty good structure for following.
Anyway, as I said, I'm not very good at this, but I'm planning to drive down to barstool sports tomorrow to pitch. I'm doing this with or without support, so this is really just a blind shot. I don't know exactly what I'm doing wrong, but most viewers clock out after 30 seconds or so (these videos are 8-12 minutes). As I said, I'm never stopping, regardless of how little money I'll make, but I think it would be nice to make more (as opposed to less, lol).
Anyway. I'm hoping one or two of you will check out my dumb talking head and tell me where I need to tighten up. I know I'd do better with effects and clips, but that's a non-starter (I publish about 12-16 times per week, plus I have a full-time job, so effects and clips are a non-starter (unless I find a partner)). The channel is called Gridiron Werewolf. I'm not asking for likes, I'm asking for honest opinions, even ones that could hurt my feelings. If you've read this far, thanks.
tl;dr - check out my channel, it sucks!
