I wanted somebody educated like Marc to really let Akademiks have it, but his approach shows how silly these things are

All this media war stuff really is mud wrestling and there are so many more important things going on that deserve the attention of black people. That colosseum brain where we wanna see conflict for entertainment really distracts us from being able to give adequate focus to important shit.

& before you niggas start lying talking about “why can’t we do both” because a lot of yall aren’t. It’s just sounds good when someone holds you accountable for spending too much time on the wrong shit.

Half an hour of alluding to rocnation scheming on Drake, not a second on Drake scheming on yg

Saying “I’m not saying it’s true” doesn’t mean much if you still suggest that it’s true with every one of your following breaths. Too much half-stepping, say it with your chest or don’t say it at all.

Flip was right about ish lying about reading comments

As a former ishrealite I hate to see him getting cooked, but facts are facts. Ish has drastically changed to the point where he won’t even speak about a lot of things because “yall not gonna make me look stupid” but if you’re not reading comments, who do you look stupid too?
It’s nothing wrong with being upset about unfavorable comments, but you can’t act above it all & be so sensitive you have to lie about your feelings. It don’t even matter if a C effort ish is still better than flips A game. How about you educate yourself so you don’t have to worry about people poking holes in the nonsense you say.

Mal: “a lot of the Jay / Drake tension is not real” Drake: “yall was really island hopping back then, now your names getting redacted”

I don’t think people would be as annoyed by some of these things if niggas weren’t blatantly lying & trying to tell us we’re not seeing & hearing what the artist themselves are making obvious.

Kanan has the most plot armor in almost any drug dealing series I’ve ever see

50 really uses power to live out his delusions of grandeur. It’s so obvious he wants Kanan to be perceived one way, but it never lines up with how the story unfolds & then we have to watch these asspulls constantly saving him.

Rory still talking about Ross like he’s tough.

I don’t know what it is about Rory that feels like he can speak about people like he wants to fight them. Ask vlad what that talking crazy gets you.

Do yall really listen to the pod because you think Joe is funny or enjoy him trying to be?

When I first started listening during the intpl days it was always entertaining, but the conversations themselves were entertaining not the random jokes. Somehow it feels like the show has aged in reverse & things have gotten more immature, but it’s unnecessary imo.

The show feels better when there’s a natural funny situation/conversation rather than a randomly placed snickering & insider head nodding. I’m trying to figure out when things pivoted so much to this. I do think it’s all joes doing before anyone blames an individual cast member.

Before there was a Jenard, Taz, Saxe, Cane, or even Dre, there was Gregory Knox. He was the original hater of the powerverse.

Greg was lowkey one of the more successful haters too, he was on ghost ass for 3 seasons. He even successfully lead to ghost getting locked up & having his soulmate turn on him, he had to die to do it but that just shows his commitment to hating. Who yall top haters from power?

What is stefano’s real issue with Raq?

He got stabbed because he was using Marvin to go on missions for him behind Raq’s back to undermine her & disrupt her business. He caused that.

Now he’s extra salty about Raq not bending to him when you ask him, she’s shouldn’t have even left queens. If it wasn’t for niq messing up her business out there she could’ve stood & fought back.

I know it isn’t explicitly stated, but it’s clearly some racist & misogynist shit going on. Seeing these Italians use black people to go against each other grinds my gears when stefano loser ass be getting hoe’d by his own people.

They really be sparing Ish with his Mamdani & political takes

It was annoying at first because I did view ish as someone who was legitimately empathetic to people, but misguided on some things. Now it’s just pathetic when it becomes evident that capitalism supersedes everything for him.

Also, he’s always bringing up how no one feels sympathy for landlords & while I disagree with that, for the ones who don’t feel sympathy, why should we? Capitalism has convinced people that owning a necessity (shelter is a literal necessity for life) and profiting from it is a benign thing. It’s not. The same way people don’t like privatizing water at the expense of people not having it, why should we care that you chose an industry that’s built on controlling something people literally die without.

And I hate that Marc lets that slide to protect ish’s ego because we need more serious conversations about things that matter. But ish’s pride will never let him accept he’s wrong & Joe would rather give us “you know what’s really interesting? Cheating!” Every week.

____’s death feels anticlimactic

Opening the season with it didn’t make it feel super impactful. It was well acted for the most part (kanan’s reaction was a bit bland), but the execution just seems weak imo. After it happened it was like, okay what’s next. It also undermines the big scene with Lou killing Kenyatta & declaring that he’s back, all that feels like a waste now. The way his death was handled almost feels like they were in a rush to get Malcom mays off the show.

At the same time, he had a better funeral sequence than 95% of the characters in the universe so even though his death itself left more to be desired his send off was pretty great.

Jay Electronica should give up on touring / shows

He obviously isn’t professional enough or disciplined enough to keep up with them. All these no shows or weird tension with the crowd does nothing but leave a bad impression on the few supporters he still has left. He could easily just focus on consistently releasing more music & allow the streams to carry him, do a few dates every couple years or so. He doesn’t have the cache as people like Lauryn hill or Kanye, where they can no show or give you an absolutely fanatical rant instead of a show. He’s making it hard to want to support him at this point.

Ish is always fighting these imaginary cancellers

He always talking about what he can’t say and conversations that he can’t have because people won’t let him while in a room that agree with most of his stances, especially on gender. Literally no one up there stops him from discussing things, but he’s so concerned about how he is perceived that he won’t allow himself the space to grow. Being wrong is an opportunity unless your ego makes you believe it’s punishment.

“Music was boring without Drake” doesn’t hold up under its own weight because Drake never left

Mal & his kind don’t even realize this foolishness diminishes all the songs Drake has been dropping post-beef pre-iceman. I don’t want to hear SS4U doesn’t count because it was a collab because that 21 collab album “counts” & I don’t wanna hear it was an r&b album because honestly, nevermind “counts” people just won’t admit that Drake was deflated after the beef & started dropping mid. He knows that even if Aubrey’s angels don’t & that’s why these latest projects feel way more intentional & received a lot better.

This idea that the entire business is contingent on one person is a lie and it destroys the value of the industry as a whole if it becomes true. Essentially treating Drake like Amazon where he takes up all the market share, ruins smaller artists opportunities to grow like Amazon does with mom & pop stores while also allowing Drake to get away with mediocrity because all the alternatives get bought up (him appropriating sounds) or the labels just dumping money into making him #1.

Reason is my least favorite guest.

That nigga is boring as hell and he’s still rehashing his beef with BOF because he got embarrassed by Moosa. It’s been years, he’s not even on the label anymore & he still brings it up every chance that he can like a pansy. His music is weak, personality is bland, and he always sounds bitter.

Anytime it gets brought up he acts like the ai bubble hasn’t already directly been responsible for 100k+ people losing their jobs as a modest estimate. There isn’t a single industry where ai cannot penetrate and this white boy keeps downplaying it like it’s nothing.

The only conclusion is this nigga is working with skynet. He’s been plugged into them boards so long he’s become the system.
