Notice period problems

Hey all, been working on a contract for just over a year (I had been with the same end client for 5 years after a 3 year break elsewhere), and I have a 4 week notice period (me), 2 week (them) split.

I requested to shave one day off the notice period, as my next gig require the first day to be an in office day for IT setup, and their in-office day falls on the last day of my notice.

My immediate agency have been trying to argue this for me, but the big prime are saying no, that they need a 3 day handover, not 2 day. This basically means I have a week unpaid.

Also just found out, the person replacing me is the person I took over from a year ago, and they are more than capable in the role.

Anyone experienced this and got any advice?

EDIT
Just want to add, this isn't just about having to take a week unpaid, my issue is that personally a lot has come up recently, and I also have a holiday booked in August, and then I have been called up for 2 weeks Jury duty in September, so it's just a combination of all those things.

First timer Brompton commuter - UK train travel question

Hi all, I have had a search around, and whilst this question has been asked a fair few times, many threads are quite old and some are on trains outside of the UK.

I am starting a new job, commuting for 3 hours each way a couple of times a month, half on Southern and half on Thames Link with a Brompton C Line.

The closer it gets, the more nervous I feel about commuting with the bike. It's hefty commute, so ideally I want to snooze some of the way, but feel like I am going to have to stay vigilant.

Considered locking it to the luggage frame, but this is listed against the train rules. Considered having it next to me, but worry about irritating people if it's in the way.

Anyone have any experience of this and able to calm my anxious mind.

Thanks so much in advance.

ID Buzz Refresh

Hi all,

Got an annoying issue, just received our ID Buzz GTX last week and saw a couple of days a press announcement stating the refreshed model with deliveries this summer, including one pedal driving, upgraded infotainment system, vehicle to load and new steering wheel with actual buttons.

This release was announced 2 days before I placed the order, so just irritated I wasn't told about this. I was guided towards an in-stock vehicle and been told it’s unclear whether any of the updates will be OTA software updates.

Anyone else had this? Seems like terrible customer service - for such an expensive vehicle.

Is this damage worth repairing before handing back (on PCP)

Hey all,

I have a Tesla on a PCP deal, financed through Black Horse. I recently got their fair wear and tear guidance through and it states that scratches under 2.5mm re acceptable, unless down to the primer or metal.

This scratch is down to the primer but is very small, under 1cm.

I took it to a bodyshop who do smart repairs and they quoted £400 as it would need to be blended into the rear door and adjacent drivers door.

He also said in all his year of experience with PCP assessments, this 100% should fall into fair wear and tear.

The rest of the car is immaculate with fairly low mileage. Wondering what people think? Repaired it or take a chance?

Thanks guys.
