I'm so Thrilled with Bazzite!

I have to start out saying I am thrilled!

I am coming from Windows 11 on a pretty new and high-spec Asus Creator laptop.

I thought with the Nvidia drivers I had it would be a pain in the butt to switch to Linux, but my experience has been the opposite so far. I have been using Bazzite daily for about a week now.

As others have said, everything just works!

I downloaded the version of Bazzite for my specs, and I've had less problems with it than I was having with Windows.

Until I made the switch, it didn't even fully register how many issues I was having with Windows 11. I knew I wanted to get away from the AI and from Microsoft tracking and everything, but the weird screen flashes, the screen going dark whenever I plugged in my computer, weird graphical issues on games, Bluetooth randomly disconnecting and taking forever to fully connect - all those issues I had had in the background are all gone! I had listened to a Linux podcast before the switch where everyone was saying Bluetooth was one of the worst things about Linux, but my experience has been the opposite. It's working better than Windows!

And I can play games! I have played KSP and Age of Empires II so far and both work even better than they did on Windows. After reading about Linux, I was worried I'd have to mess around a bunch with Proton versions to get basic games to work, but so far, both games just work. I will be trying Skyrim next.

And here's the thing: As I've gotten older I really don't play games very often anymore, but knowing when I have a sick day at work I can just pull up some of my old favorites and they will just work is a huge relief.

My main usage is just internet browsing and working with documents, and I have to say it is working very well for that. Everything feels so much quicker and snappier than Windows.

I love the file explorer and all the customization KDE Plasma brings with Bazzite as well.

So yes, if your considering making the switch, I would absolutely recommend it!

I am looking forward to seeing what months and years on Bazzite and Linux will bring. If you're on the fence about switching from Windows, please come join us!

Hi All,

Anyone around here do strength workouts at home or outside? I'm looking for more in-person community around this topic.

I do a combination of variable-weight dumbbell and calisthenics workouts and I'm looking to see if anyone in the area does anything similar. My full gear set up is dumbbells, gymnastic rings in the backyard, and a weight vest, and I find it to be a great set up to continue seeing progress.

I know climbing gyms have some folks that do calisthenics, but the gyms are expensive, especially long term!

I'm hoping to organize a group to do some park workouts at some point, but I don't have much interest within my social circle and I don't know what park (preferably in SE) would be best.

Any community or conversation around this topic would be great!
