To whom or where will your dil dil go to?

What do you usually call the yogurt sauce? Raita, mayo, ya chutney?

I came up with this menu for a late Eid dinner with my friends (none of us is muslim so I picked a later date). Some of us are tasting Pakistani cuisine for the first time, still they loved the food very much! Chef did an amazing job!

Menu:

1. Green salad (with raita)
2. Charga (in pot)
3. Beef chapli kabab
4. Chicken shami kebab
5. Lahori fish
6. Mutton kadai
7. Bhindi masala
8. Halwa & Kahwa

Bought from a Pakistani owned provision store. The cha cha there said this thing got weird taste and he can’t finish a bottle. Intrigued to find out how bad it is, bought one to share with my friends.

Indeed it tastes like beer and we are fine with it, but I think it also tastes a bit like “soy sauce”, from the fermentation maybe. Personally I prefer Murree’s blue bottle malt series more.

Assalamu alaikum, mein Hong Kong se hoon. Hi everyone, I’m a Pakistani food lover from Hong Kong. I found the Qurma are drastically different here.

All the pictures in this post are Qurma dishes, ordered in restaurants operated by Paks (only one seems to be by Indian Punjabis) in HK. The first two are from areas where many Paks settled, they have stronger taste of “garam masala” , but not as white as others (less yogurt). The last two are from areas with more local Chinese, got stronger nuts flavours and sweeter, the last one is even sweet as dessert with meat in it.

So, experts of Pak food, what should Qurma be like?

p.s. Pak restaurants got me into learning Urdu, you ppl are amazing 🤩

Just realised the Chinese word Dik(的) has almost the same usages of ka/ki/ke and wala/wali. If you understand the Urdu usage, then you already understand the Chinese word, vice versa.

The volunteers in the mosque offered to write the names of open day visitors’ names in Arabic. I asked for the name of my Japanese swordsmanship dojo instead, “Zen Tsu-ki Do” (Hall of Thousand Moons), this is what I got. (Urdu is the calligrapher‘s first language.)

I showed it to an Arab friend and I was told the proper translation should be “زين تسوكي دو” in stead of “دین ثوقی دو”. Then I suddenly remembered the haroof can be pronounced as Z or D should be ض!

Is this a situation where د ز ص are mixed up? Did I asked for Arabic but got Urdu instead?

I can recognise the top row being Tasmiya, what does the rest says? Is it Farsi or Urdu?🤔

Well the floor was not the wet kind of slippery, but polished marble kind of slippery when you have socks on.
