I just joined a Sex and the City–inspired group for women 35+, and they’re having a happy hour tonight at 6 PM!

I asked the admin, and she said it’s totally okay to share the details here, so I wanted to let you ladies know in case anyone is interested. It seems like a really fun way to meet other women around our age, make some new friends, grab a drink, and have a little SATC-style night out.

My parents are visiting this weekend and it looks like it’s going to be a rainy one, so we’ll probably end up doing mostly indoor-ish shopping, wandering around Manhattan.

We’re already planning to go to the Diamond District, but I was wondering if the Garment District or Flower District are actually worth a stroll too?

For context: my mom isn’t really into “culture” stuff or foodie spots, but she does like random shops and browsing things she hasn’t seen before. She’s well-travelled, but she enjoys simple, unexpected finds (cheap jewelry, cute stuff etc.).

I’m not expecting anything major from either area, but even something like cheap jewelry shops in the Garment District could be fun for her.

Same question for the Flower District - worth just walking through and going into a few of the shops?

They’ve been to NYC before, this visit is really just about spending time together. I also don’t spend much time in Manhattan myself, so I’m not super familiar with what’s actually still interesting vs. overhyped.
