New Day Linden (Reduction Linocut)

Slavic people have held (well, some still might) a folk belief that their souls were bound to a linden tree. A linden tree would be planted to celebrate birth of a child and under them they would hold all important village meetings and celebrations. There is something embracing about them. They are gaudy yet humble. Inviting without revealing themselves.

The print was made in five stages. I've used Caligo safe wash ink on Hereford 140gsm printmaking paper and most of the carving was done with small Michihamono U tool.

Blue poplar tree - reduction lino

In some Slavic folk traditions isolated poplars and aspens were thought to be places where spirits crossed between realms. They are strangely charged trees, very mysterious and poetic.

Blue Poplar (Reduction lino)

And more leasons learned about reduction printing. Every day is school day. Included the small Michihamono u-tool in the pic as it is a true marvel of sharpness and versatility for lino. They aren’t easy to find but if you do - get one.

Blue Tree

Sometimes it is good to relax inbetween big, multilayer pieces with a quick, simple one.

Reduction Lino

Another small one. Plate is 10x15cm, printed with Caligo Safe Wash inks on Hereford 140gsm paper. I’ve split the edition with two slighly different background colours, one more mustard, another more orange. Remaining four layers are the same. Crazy how much of a vibe difference that one difference makes.

Morning & Evening - Reduction lino

First slightly more ambitious reduction lino. Was a constant battle against ink noise but I love the mood. They resonate nicely.

Give me anything stable and polished. I play mostly ML ob Virtuared, manual controls. If it also fixes referees a bit even better. If it also fixes scripting a bit that would be ideal. But really good gameplay is what I need.
