OfflineDAoC 0.34 and 0.34b are now out on Github. Have you tried the new Hibernian class Sluaghbinder?

0.34 and 0.34b are now out on the Github https://github.com/shadowofze/OfflineDAoC/

What is Offline DAOC?

It's a single-player Dark Age of Camelot (Classic + Shrouded Isles, 1.65 rules) that runs entirely on your own PC. It's built on the open sourced OpenDAoC and former Atlas server client, but the world is filled with bots that actually play the game. They level up, form groups, buy and sell on the Realm Exchange, run dungeons, do epic raids and dragons, and go out to RvR and siege keeps. You can run a few hundred of them or a few thousand. You can also recruit companion bots to group with you if you don't want to solo. The launcher includes tons of features that customize the experience how you want it.

0.34 vs 0.34b

0.34 has the original Classic and Shrouded Isles classes only, for players who want a vanilla experience. 0.34b adds the Sluaghbinder as a playable class for you and the gamebots. Everything else is the same in both versions.

What's the Sluaghbinder?

It's a custom Hibernian class that is heavily inspired by Death Knight in World of Warcraft or Shadow Knight in Everquest. Hibernia was the only realm that did not have an undead summoning archetype and it seemed most fitting.

Known Issue: The lv 30 quest from the trainer in Tir Na Nog (she is near the chamber of stealth off the main road in some grass. Black armored female firbolg). The lv 30 quest sends you to Vale of Balor but the quest mob is actually inside Callite Garren. I have to update the quest dialogue and add markers in the future.

Still a work in progress

This is very much a hobby project, and all the code was written with AI tools (Codex and Claude) while I tested and steered it. Expect bugs. Bots still do dumb things sometimes, like walking right into aggro or taking weird routes. Darkness Falls raids aren't done yet, and there's plenty more on my list. If you try it, back up your save before updating, and let me know what breaks or what you'd like to see.

Open source

All the code is on GitHub, the server, bot AI, launcher and tools. You're free to fork it, change it or build your own version. You don't need to ask. If you make something cool with it that is awesome to see.

What class would you be most interested in seeing next? (Poll) https://strawpoll.com/eJnvVO2W9nv

Midgard

  • Wyrmwarden. A serpent-cult pet class that bonds a single wyrm, which grows with you from a hatchling into a full lindworm. It can coil enemies in place and stack venom that you can burst. It's a control pet class, good at holding targets in RvR and tough enough to solo.
  • Volva. A seidr witch who weaves fate. She foretells a groupmate's death and turns the killing blow aside, marks enemies with doom so they take more damage, and reads the battle to speed up allies.
  • Stormcaller. A sea-raider weather mage who calls wind, sleet and lightning. Gusts knock enemies back, freezing rain slows a whole area, and a storm builds up over a fight for a big finish.
  • Dvergr Smith. A dwarf-taught forge priest who works in the middle of a fight. They hammer temporary enchantments onto group mates weapons and armor, and set down runed anvils that buff or burn anyone nearby.

Albion

  • Inquisitor. The Church's witch hunter: a chain-wearing crossbow and melee hybrid built to shut down casters. It can brand targets so their own spells burn them, strip buffs and land short silences.
  • Puppetmaster. Starts as a Scribe and becomes a Puppetmaster at level 5. You get a plain puppet that you dress in any armor and weapons you want, then teach it up to 8 spells or abilities. Mix and match to build a tank, healer, caster or anything in between, a bit like the Animated Guardian in Path of Exile.
  • Herald. A knight of the Round Table's tradition who fights under a banner. They plant standards that buff the whole group, call challenges that force enemies to fight them, and rally fallen allies back to their feet.
  • Stonewarden. A keeper of the old standing stones from before the Church came to Albion. They raise small stone circles that heal, ward or punish anyone inside, so where you fight matters.
  • Alchemist. A scholar from Avalon who brews in the field: thrown flasks of fire and acid, healing tonics for the group, and a few dangerous mixtures that can go wrong.

Offline DAoC v3.0 Now Available - Introducing Realm Events & Raid Mode

Video of Dragon Raid - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmh7YkajRx0&feature=youtu.be

Introducing Realm Events & Raid Mode with the companion bots so you can tackle harder PvE content solo or take keeps or relics yourself. Be warned that enemy factions will muster in the hundreds when you attack one of their keeps now.

I've confirmed autonomous Dragon Raid kills for all 3 factions on my version. Epic Dungeons are hit or miss. Overall I spent over 8 hours with Astra and burned countless credits trying to get the mechanics suited for the gamebots and adjusting routes.

Mechanics for both Dragons and Epic Dungeons were heavily tweaked to make them bot viable content. Epic Dungeons are in basic state and are unlikely to be completed by the bots alone.

QoL such as being able to reset Keeps & Relics is now an option inside Active RvR. Bot Goals on the launcher will allow you to fully customize which % of bots are aiming for each activity or set to 0 to disable completely.

There is still a lot of work to be done with routes and bug fixes but overall this is a much better state than the 0.2 version. Tons of bugs have been fixed with routes, realm exchange, and other misc. travel issues.

There is also a texture upscaling tool that Astra made where you can ask for meshes, give it to an AI to upscale, and then give back to an LLM and they can run it through the tool to make it the right file type and dimensions to work in the game client.

To be blunt it will be awhile for a new update if there is one. I am on my second month with the $200 Codex plan and OpenAI has been generous with resets so I've had a lot to burn. But with Astra now on the project it's been token heavy and with WoW Forever on the horizon I don't know how much more attention the project will get for the time being. The hope is that AI gets better and more efficient and even more can be done in the future.

Setup Instructions

Before launching, make sure .NET Framework 3.5 is enabled:

  1. Open “Turn Windows features on or off” from the Windows Start menu.
  2. Check “.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0).”
  3. Click OK and let Windows install the required files.
  4. Restart the computer if Windows asks.

SETUP AND PLAY

  1. Extract the entire ZIP into a normal folder. Do not run files from inside the ZIP. If you have an older version, extract this version into a separate folder.
  2. Open the extracted folder and double-click START OFFLINE DAOC.cmd. This is the recommended portable startup method.
  3. In the launcher, click START SERVER and wait until it reports RUNNING. The launcher automatically refreshes when ENTER REALM becomes available. This can take several seconds.
  4. Click ENTER REALM.
  5. Do not launch CoreServer.exe, connect.exe, or OpenDAoC separately.
  6. Do not manually enter an account or register. The game automatically creates and uses the local offline account.
  7. Create a character, select it, and enter the realm. Characters and progress save inside the extracted portable folder.
  8. This version starts with an empty bot roster. Use the launcher’s + Lv.1 or + Lv.50 buttons under each faction to generate playerbots.

OPTIONAL: TRANSFER PROGRESS FROM AN OLDER VERSION

Skip this section if you want to start fresh. You can transfer before your first launch.

  1. Keep your old portable folder intact. Extract the new version into a different folder.
  2. Stop the server and close the game and launcher for both versions.
  3. Inside the NEW folder, double-click IMPORT PROGRESS FROM OLD OFFLINE DAOC.cmd.
  4. Click “Choose OLD folder...” and select your old portable Offline DAoC folder.
  5. Check the displayed account, character, bot, and inventory counts.
  6. Click IMPORT PROGRESS and confirm. This replaces any existing progress in the NEW version; it does not combine two saves.
  7. Wait for the completion message before closing the transfer window.
  8. Launch the NEW version using START OFFLINE DAOC.cmd, start the server, and click ENTER REALM. Your imported account credentials are used automatically.

Included is a list of server commands however Codex put it together with literally every command. Here are the important ones.

Use Ctrl for +100 bots on the launcher at a time when clicking, Shift for +10

/tele X (X = a gamebot name), You can also right click bot names on the launcher to teleport

/mobs X (X = a level, will show you names of all mobs of a certain level)

/tele mob X (X = a mobs name verbatim, will teleport you to a mob spawn)

/tc (teleports you to your realms realm exchange npc)

/grind (starts grinding with a companion bot group automatically if you want to go afk)

/spawn (brings up a menu of valid companion bots to summon in)

/spawn X (class name if you dont want to use the /spawn menu or make a macro)

/raid 40 , /raid 80 (40 or 80 man raids for companion bots. use this command before /spawn)

/aggressive , /defensive (aggressive means your bots will automatically attack what you attack, defensive means they will stay aggro around you and let you pull mobs to the group instead for harder content mostly)

UPDATE: IF you are using 0.22 you will need to do this to go from 0.22->0.3 and keep your progress grab the updated importer below the included 0.3 one wont work with 0.22. Grab it while you can my luck with small files on google drive made by Astra has been poor (they get flagged by google for some reason).

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zbviphypO1-hWOhTX1aV1nuin43JDW8k/view?usp=sharing

  • Close both versions’ server, launcher, and game.
  • Extract the ZIP and copy its tools folder into the new v0.3 folder. Merge folders and replace the importer files.
  • Run the usual IMPORT PROGRESS FROM OLD OFFLINE DAOC.cmd and select the original v0.2/v0.22 folder.

Github below, release + instructions for people who just want to play and full source code and LLM instructions for people looking to make their own versions. Forking should be unlimited without request so you can fork your own version. I don't know anything about github and Astra set it all up.

Offline DAoC Version 0.2 Available Now - Full Single Player Experience with Thousands of Real Time Player Bots With Persistent Inventories and Equipment Alongside a Realm Exchange to Trade With Themselves, Or With You. Introducing Active RvR.

As always let me know if you have any issues with getting it running.

https://youtu.be/zGp7gRMUkKY - Albion Heading Out

Here is version 0.2 of Offline DAoC. Full disclaimer I don't know how many future updates there will be, or how long between them, or if there even will be any. This is just a for fun AI built project I started with my brother like 2 weeks ago and I wanted to share the newest version which includes lots of optimization fixes (10k+ bots is possible now), QOL like GM toggle(under XP Settings), XP Settings, and teleport to bots by right clicking their names on the launcher. Sweeping class changes, and some AI fixes that should make them progress a lot easier. There's still a lot of work to be done but it will take time because stuck issues have to be identified in overnight runs.

If you want to take this project and fix it or modify it then I would recommend Codex (Sol/Astra) or Claude (Opus/Fable) we used Codex solely.

Offline DAoC is a fully offline version of Dark Age of Camelot where you play solo or alongside a companion bot party while in a living world with other player bots that are grouped up, grinding, trading with each other on the realm exchange, while all having real 40 slot inventories, gear upgrading from loot they receive or buy from other bots or yourself from the realm exchange, and keeping track of their real coins. They gain experience and level up just like you.

Version 0.2 implements a very basic version of Active RvR. Bots will engage in skrimishes, attempt to take realms and relics, and will use the star gothi or equivalents to travel to other factions frontier zones.

Level 1-19 Bots will 60% solo pve, 40% group pve, from 20-49 they will do 40%Solo/40%Group/20% RvR however 20-49 cannot do RvR back to back. At 50 they will do 80% RvR/10%Solo PvE/10% Group PvE and CAN do RvR back to back. They will not attempt to join a keep taking or relic taking until at least level 35 and they must have a warband with the coins to afford a siege kit. Keep/Relic taking is largely untested and is just a concept at this stage.

/spawn brings up a menu of classes in your realm where you can summon companion bots into your party. They do not take your xp so you will receive full xp from any purple mob you take down with them in your party. They also spawn with gear and will not take any loot. /disband gets rid of all of them instantly. There is a list of server specific commands in the included portable folder download.

The server includes an automated bot management system called Watch Dog that triggers if a bot doesn't make any movement for 15 minutes (while they are supposed to be moving, not while forming up, etc.). Or doesn't get any kill xp, loot, or progress on a goal after 45 minutes. If either of those conditions trigger then the Watch Dog sends them to capital city, gives them a new goal automatically to prevent them from being stuck and also logs every time this happens so it can be used to diagnose constant issues.

Here are the instructions to get started followed by the download link

Before launching, make sure .NET Framework 3.5 is enabled:

  1. Open “Turn Windows features on or off” from the Windows Start menu.

  4. Click ENTER REALM.
  5. Do not launch CoreServer.exe, connect.exe, or OpenDAoC separately.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1thJ2BIB_YbO0-WZqjfmrjqVmEkoK6hqy/view?usp=drive_link Version 0.2 download

Edit: Google pulled the patcher for 0.22 made by codex again because it was "suspicious" so I submitted a review for it but in the meantime I'll be working on a meaningful 0.3 that may come out in the future.

Unzip that folder, put it in with your 0.2 folder, go inside and use the exe to apply or rollback the patch.

Hold Ctrl to make 100 bots at a time, Hold Shift to create 10 bots at a time when clicking on the launcher.

My brother & I have created a single player DAOC with Codex that has real time player bots that also have real inventories, and use a realm exchange to buy and sell items with each other or you. You can have up to thousands of them at the same time across all realms and nothing is simulated.

It's still in an early state but it has good framework and I thought I would share it here so people can download it, modify it to their own liking, and enjoy the experience. I don't know if I will be keeping it updated publicly but it's in a good enough state that you could take your own Claude or Codex and customize it and improve/bug fix it to your standards. Hope people have some fun with the concept. RvR is largely untested they are supposed to use siege weapons but will not get relics on their own. In their current state I doubt they will put up much of a fight against a veteran player. After starting the launcher make sure you hit refresh to see enter realm once its ready. Also you can hold ctrl or shift to click the generate level 1 button to add 10 or 100 gamebots at a time. There is a command list inside the zip some of the commands don't work but most do.

Once I figure out more routes that they get stuck at or any other issues arise that I end up fixing I'll try to update the download link occasionally here, but if that doesn't happen and you encounter any issues on your end I would recommend Codex Sol or Claude Fable if you're trying to get navmesh routes fixed or anything like that. Give it the stuck bots names and make sure it has logging set up to be able to see what the bot is doing in game. It can repair routes easily. Mid game, RvR, and especially late game are almost entirely untested. The project is only about a week old. Midgard & Albion monster spawns were built off Capnbry Beastiary data. Hibernia was built off client spawn guesswork due to a lack of Capnbry data. RvR task rolls become available starting at level 20. They can't do RvR back to back and will rotate between PvE and RvR tasks. At level 50 that becomes an exception where they can do RvR back to back and prefer RvR rolls over PvE rolls at that point.

  • Extract the entire ZIP into a normal folder. Do not run files from inside the ZIP.
  • Before launching, make sure .NET Framework 3.5 is enabled:
    1. Open Turn Windows features on or off from the Windows Start menu.
    2. Check .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0).
    3. Click OK and let Windows install the required files.
    4. Restart the computer if Windows asks.
  • This is required by the older connect.exe used when clicking ENTER REALM. Installing a modern version such as .NET 8 or 9 does not necessarily install this older framework.
  • Open the extracted folder and double-click START OFFLINE DAOC.cmd. The .exe may also work, but the .cmd is the recommended portable startup method.
  • In the launcher, click START SERVER and wait until it reports that the server is running.
  • Click REFRESH until the ENTER REALM button becomes available. This can take several seconds after starting the server.
  • Click ENTER REALM.
  • Do not launch CoreServer.exe, connect.exe, or OpenDAoC separately.
  • Do not manually enter an account. The game automatically creates and uses the local offline account.
  • Create a character, select it, and enter the realm.
  • Characters and progress are saved inside the extracted portable folder.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kSGK6BtQjIH2IoTaUUcMWWh_CZWpLBpk/view?usp=drive_link download is for version 0.1 I'm hard at work on 0.2 and will make a new thread when its available with how to transfer your player bot and account progress to the new folder. No ETA and it shows up when it shows up if it shows up.

Here is a running changelog with changes I've made since the current download version if anybody wants to follow along. https://app.simplenote.com/p/QZZvLN I will try to have a new fresh updated version out at some point with a script included where you can point it at your old version and import your player bot and account/character progress you've made without any issues. No eta on that though.
