Mattress run for Platinum
My credit card gives me free Accor Explorer Plus membership, somehow last year I qualified for Platinum and got platinum for 2026.
I found it quite nice to have and want to repeat next year, cause I have a fairly big plans for travel in 2027, and could use all the free breakfasts and room upgrades.
The thing is, in 2026 I only stayed 5 nights and I have additional plans of 11 nights, which means I am roughly 14 nights short to getting platinum.
(Accor Explorer plus only gives me nights and no status points, please correct me if I am wrong)
Having said this, I live in Singapore and if I drive to Kuala Lumpur, I can book myself a hotel for SGD38 (USD29) per night, which means I can buy Platinum status for SGD532 (USD410).
I am personally thinking Platinum status pays back better than that, but I wanted to hear your opinion on it.
I might end up with more nights in the way, so I might not need to do full 14 nights on the mattress run..
