We are trying to spread a story and don’t know how to get in contact with the larger organizations. Does anyone have any tips with how to get in contact with these larger groups? I attached the story to this.
I wanted to pass along a story that is drastically affecting our community, collegiate student athletes and the integrity of Olympic sports. California Baptist University decided to cut the programs on January 2nd based upon the statement "positioning Lancer Athletics more competitively for the future" and "factors including community impact, Title IX, house settlement and available resources." Additionally they just cut a Women’s sport but aren’t making a public statement as they are afraid of the backlash.
The student athletes at California Baptist University have been under direct scrutiny and had repeated reports of having their voices silenced. They have reported that there have been active faculty/staff who have threatened them with eliminating their season and taking away opportunities that these athletes have worked hard to achieve. In one of the links posted below CBU administration reportedly belittles the wrestlers in regards to their peaceful protest.
Our coliliton has raised over 1.2 million in the past 2 months and has spread awareness to thousands of people nationwide. Through-out countless requests for a meeting or connecting CBU administration has repeatedly ignored them. Our fight is simple, as Dr. Ellis (president of CBU) continuingly states, "Everyone has a seat at the table" and we are just wanting that. We are hoping for an opportunity to sit with the administration and show how this decision is monumentally a bad decision from a sport and university standpoint. Our goal is to spread continued awareness of our fight and encourage people to stand saying that this decision is wrong. We need to protect Olympic sports as they are directly under attacl. We have also filed a petition to reform Title IX as the last time it was addressed was when it was released in 1979. Lastly a Lawsuit has been filed against the school for sex-discrimination.
