Image 1 — Clearance issue during fitting.

With the barrel partially linked down/out of lockup (as pictured), I cannot fit a .010" feeler gauge between the top barrel lugs/hood area and the slide. I’m also getting fairly heavy witness marks on the upper lugs and top of the hood during cycling.

Does this suggest the barrel is not dropping enough during unlock? If so, is the correct approach to slightly deepen/relieve the chamfer on the inner slide rails to allow the barrel to seat/drop slightly deeper, or should I be looking elsewhere first? Thanks!

My recoil assembly wont stop riding up the lower lugs. Any idea what is causing that and how to fix it? It is a 5" guide rod with a supported reverse plug. The gun cycles by hand, but there is strong initial resistance when starting to rack the slide out of battery.

Help sourcing parts

Looking to find a few places that sell controls [takedown levers/safeties/mag releases/grip screws, magwells etc.] that are already finished /coated.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've already used Atlas , Infinity ,EGW as well as a few others. Or am I better off sourcing the parts and then finding a coater? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Atlas Build Kit - Another one assembled.

Atlas / PZ sent me this 4.6” after watching my videos and what I shared from the first couple of kits and I took another stab at barrel fitting. Safe to say this one was done correctly and is a shooter!
Going to run it on an indoor match this week and then get it all blended and prepared for coating.

Question about frames

Hello all, I'd like to give building a 2011 a go. I'm looking at this for the experience. My question is this: which frame is a good starting point, Cheely, Brazos or Jem? or are these really all similar enough that it doesn't matter? Thanks in advance.

Match X

I bought a Girsan Witness Match X. Have done many upgrades to it including EGW ignition kit, red dirt trigger, Kimber 2K11 aluminum grip module, and more. I do not like the gray color of the frame and barrel. Has anybody taken it apart and polished them to be chrome-like? I like that look as a have a Canik Rival S in Chrome and I like that.
Any advise?
