Safira’s bellydance animation!

I’m sharing this today! It’s 38°C today, and I’m already sweating just from watching Safira move. The worst part is that it looks pretty hot over on her end, too.

Anyway… I finally finished animating these longest 13 seconds of my life. This took forever, and I couldn't have done it without Laura Pacheco Cadena’s references.

Cheers!

Some frame-by-frame shots from a short film I'm working on

I'm working on a surreal-horror short about a guy who's got some eyes growing on his back.

I started this project thinking "I don't need to do anything frame-by-frame, I'll do it all in a digital cut-out style"

But then I realized that there are things like head turns that don't really work without some frame-by-frame hustle!

Anyway, 1 online Aaron Blaise online video course later (On Black Friday it was 5$ lol) I got a lot less scared of frame-by-frame and even started to enjoy it quite a bit. So here are some examples.

Did I overshare? I don't know! But anyway, enjoy!

I worked on this short animation film from the time I was 22 until I finished it at 30.

A lot changed during this time — this work began long before the coronavirus, and the world seemed completely different back then. Since it didn't have a strict plot, the film absorbed a lot of my own feelings as it grew. The film is called Syppyt Suruktar by the way ☀️

Does anyone do Cell Animation?

Salutations dear Reddit users,

I have been for some time now intrigued with hand-drawn animation, though have venture very little into it myself. I've done some research, and even went to the library and checked out The Illusion of Life by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. I would draw things excessively when I was just a wee, but I really don't have any sort of skill with the brush, or just art in general. But I have of late decided to learn and practice until I am good enough to draw, and then animate. I would like to make it clear that the only animation I am interested in is hand-drawn cell animation, as in the old Disney days. I'm sure you all know what I mean. Of course I like to imagen the sort of short animations I could endeavor to create and try drawing characters or things. And I have to admit, all of the measuring, tracing, and inking does sound daunting even when only 12 frame per second or with other simplifications. My point with all of this inditement is to exquire of you, whomever of you can be of guidance, if there are any books, resources, or really anything that would help me in my quest to learn cell animation (or really to learn to draw).

Thank you!

The reality of building a furry browser MMO on a tiny budget (and why we need a social media manager) (Art by me!)

Hey everyone!! :D

I wanted to ask everyone how they believe new furry social spaces should be run.

A small team of us is working on a comfy, browser-based, (adult only)), 2D social sandbox game called Furrytopia! The idea is to reproduce the memories of sites like Club Penguin and Animal Jam, where you can travel around biomes, decorate "Dens," and trade stuff. :)
In order to provide communities their own rooms, we are also incorporating Discord-style themed servers into it.

We are a small team with a very limited budget, which is the biggest reality check for us. It's gonna be a huge challenge to balance asset moderation and community safety on a tight budget because we want to let users upload their own unique art and fashion files using "Biscuits," an in-game hard currency.

I'd love to know what makes you think that a new social space is genuinely secure, friendly, and well-run. And maybe also what you think are the most common mistakes made by indie devs when creating a platform (or game)?

---

Also!! We are searching for a Social Media Manager:

We are currently lookin for a Social Media Manager who is a member of the furry community to join us because we are small and totally focused on getting the engine operating! To manage our public roadmap, provide updates, and influence how our community develops from the start, we need someone who enjoys these kinds of games.

If you're interested in being a SMM for the game, dm me!

Edit: we’ve found a social media manager!!

If you'd like to follow the development, also dm me!

[Hiring] 2d Animator for Intro to a Production Company!

I am on a fixed income, but I have this need to create things that I see have importance. I am working on a production company called "Pristine Ocular" and since the projects I want to do are of a expensive nature. I thought I would do intros first, as a way to start small and work my way big. I wanted to hire an animator for these intros, and do a rough animation with only pencil strokes at first. Then once the budget opens up finish the complete animation. Here are the intro concepts I would be working with an animator on:

Orb of the Tiger:

An orb materializes in the center of the screen. Drawing energy from the room the way that sub zero creates ice by using the moisture in the air. The orb slowly creates a tigers tail below it, as the body becomes more apparent as the whole tiger comes in to view. The tail is ripped out of the orb fully formed and whips towards the body of the tiger. The strips are added to the body through the splash of energy hitting the tigers. The orb starts to be absorbed by the tigers, descends like the sun over the horizon. The the body accepts the energy, and even lights up in the dark background. The tiger has a light that is surrounding it’s whole body. The tiger walks towards the viewer, if only to have a mist or a smoke coming from it’s body. Ending with the tail we see the words Pristine Ocular, with in the energy or mist.

Consuming Potential:

A chameleon is seen walking on a branch, as it sees something. Both eyes point straight ahead as what it sees is of interest to it. The chameleon opens its mouth as we see the tongue coming out of the mouth. We cut to an orb that is sitting on a branch. It’s literally an orb with wings like a bug that this chameleon plans to eat. It jolts its tongue out of its mouth as we follow the path of the tongue. It is headed straight for the bug-like orb. The chameleon hits the orb with its tongue, and retracts its tongue back in its mouth. The orb is swallowed by the chameleon, and it sits for a moment if only to start walking again. The view starts to center on the side of the chameleon, as the words Pristine Ocular is formed in the skin of the chameleon.

Rolling Waves:

A young boy is on a boat, rolling a orb on the deck of the boat as the boat embraces each of the waves on the boat. The captain looks through a scope to see his way. But, he can’t see anything and is in a state of panic. The boy looks up to notice the distress, and within a beat, he knows what to do. He lifts the orb up in to the air, as it is picked up by the air. The orb flies into the stormy clouds above. A swirl of energy is released as a large eye in the sky is seen forming. The boy is smiling, and makes sure the captain can see him. He points in the direction of the illuminated seas in front of the boat. The captain looks at his scope once again only to see in the scoop the land that they were headed towards. The captain smiles as the boat continues on. We see them raise the sail and the words Pristine Ocular appears on the sails.

Like I said before, even if it is a rough animation it would be worth it I feel to have these animations in production. Let me know your rate per hour, and maybe in the next couple months we could get started if we agree on the terms of course. I mean even if it is $20 an hour we can work on a budget of $100 a month until the rough version is completed. So, just let me know what your capabilities are. I am not sure how many hours it would take to complete each one. I mean you could work 5 hrs. each month until the rough animation is completed. No background, No color, just pencil drawings.
