Need advice on how to remove corroded Y pipe flange nuts
Trying to drop the transmission on my Z for a clutch job and the Y-pipe flange nuts are completely corroded and fused.
So far I’ve tried heating them up, pb blaster, sawzall, nut splitter, breaker bar etc the nut splitter did helped breaking them a bit but it didn’t helped getting them fully out and nothing is working.
The bolts are so corroded they seem welded together from heat cycles.
This is my only car so I’m stranded until I get this exhaust apart and clutch job done so I’m looking for the fastest method that’s worked for anyone that has had the same issue as me
VQ35HR Space Between Plug Well?
Hey all, I have a 08 350 with a stillen supercharger kit recently purchased from fb marketplace. Was getting a P0305 cyl 5 misfire code. Went to change the plugs and saw the well for cylinder 5 had some oil in it. Now I’m learning that you have to change the entire valve cover to fix that. My question is, is the gap between the top of the well and the cover supposed to be that large? Or is that a sign that I’m going to start getting oil in all my plugs? I’m probably explaining this terribly but I would expect there not to be an air gap between the metal wall of spark plug well and the cover.
NISMO S-Tune: best bodykit ever?
I think the Nismo s-tune v1, for the DE version, is the best oem looking and functional body kit.
What do you think?
Ps. The only body cosmetic aftermarket part on my car is the Giacuzzo diffuser, although I also have the S-Tune rear spats.
Ps2. Yeah, I need to relocate the 350z logo. 😝.
Fuel trim concern
2008 350Z Base 6MT here. I’ve noticed my LTFTs are consistently around +14% to +18% on both banks and I’m trying to figure out if that’s normal for these cars.
The car is mostly stock besides:
- Injen short ram intakes
- Tomei single exit exhaust (Stock Cats)
Could the intakes/exhaust be causing the positive fuel trims or making the car run lean?
So far I have:
- replaced intake manifold and throttle body gaskets
- cleaned both MAF sensors
- cleaned throttle bodies
- smoke tested the car with no vacuum leaks found
The car drives fine and has no lean codes, but I’m wondering if it’s still safe to drive with trims this high. Is there anything else I should check, or is this just something I’ll have to deal with until I get it tuned?

Exhaust thoughts
Rn my vq is pretty stock besides my air intakes I got a 07 hr at 80k miles and I want it to sounds nice. I was thinking a Tomei single exit with my stock y pipe and berk resonated test pipes would make it sound more aggressive. Thoughts since this is my daily and I don’t really know what this would sound like.
Headlight Restoration
I have been rocking a set of HR headlights with blacked-out housing and iron-man style DRL for a while now. I honestly liked the look at first but, the more I looked at it, the more I felt like the black housing didn't fit the WV2 paint as well as I wanted. I've been leaning more towards an OEM+ look, so I ended up picking up this used set.
The lenses were a little oxidized and had some yellowing, so I decided to restore them properly instead of just polishing them. I went the 2K clear coat route using SprayMax 2K Headlight Clear.
Process was:
- Wet sanded with 600 grit
- Then 800 grit
- Finish with 1000 grit
- Cleaned and prep surface
- Spray 3 coats total
- 1 light tack coat
- 2 medium-wet coats
I know some people go up to 1500/2000/3000 or even polishing them before clear, but from what I read, stopping at 800-1000 grit gives the clear enough bite to stick on properly. The lenses looked super frostly after sanding, which is nerve-racking, but trust the process.
There is a little bit of orange peel in the clear (my first time spraying 2k so it might be my technique) but overall I'm pretty happy with how they came out for a DIY job.
Going to let them fully cure before deciding whether to wet sand and polish them later. If anyone has done this before, please leave any recommendations.
Cd009 Identification
came across this transmission that was listed as a cd009 but i believe it’s a cd008 or below just off the shifter frame bushings. Am i right or is the seller?
5w-40 Oil Recommendation
I know this has been asked here a lot but i would just like to know which of these people would recommend the most. Im from the UK and lots of people here run 5w-40 in higher mileage examples and ive heard it can also help oil consumption. I have a 2004 DE 95k miles. Thanks for any help!
Windscreen replacement guys strike again
They also managed to lose the nut holding my wiper arm in place and broke my battery cover. Luckily this was an insurance job so I am not out of pocket at all.
asked if they wanted me to take them off in the first place but they were the experts 🤷♂️
Back Up Camera
Everyone knows our cars have terrible blind spots and im thinking my next mod will be Android Autoplay with a backup camera. Anyone got any recommendations before I go to Crutchfield?
Ticking noise
I know that the 350z is kinda known for having a tractor sound with the loud valve lifters but it sounds louder than usual now but I wonder if this is just normal or if I should be worried and look more into it. What do you guys think?
Going 275/35/18 Square - Clearance Advice?
Pulled the trigger on some 275/35/18s to go with a full square setup.
Setup will be:
- 18x9.5” +22 on all four corners
- Font Camber: -3ish
- Rear Camber: -2ish
Suspension:
- Lowered on RSR springs, between 0.5”-0.75”
I know someone running the same tire & camber setup with +15 offset and is fine in the front. Also someone running a 18x10.5” +25 with slightly less camber, and has knuckle clearance issues.
Think I should preemptively order some 5mm spacers and extended studs or should I be clear of any knuckle issues?
F*** California Air Rescources Board - scum bag money grabbers
How are we supposed to keep these cars on the road (in scummy California) when it costs a total of $5,000+ just to replace stupid air filters... This needs to be pulled back! Classic example of how politicians are out of touch with average working people. The Federal smog regulations should be enough! Why does California have to be so lame... rant over.
