Dust collection Improvements

I have sought to improve my dust collection. I'm a mostly hand tool shop, so only use a shop vac. I found these designs and they helped a lot. Love the 3D printing community for sharing these.

  1. Blast gates between Bandsaw, Bench Sander and clean-up hose/random orbit sander.
  2. Bandsaw dust collection on my Record BS300e. I have tried other designs and this is the best by far. Gets 95% of the dust at source.
  3. Bench sander has a port but most of the sawdust gets thrown off the back. I designed a crude cover to force it down to the port.

Wall Mount Holder for Milwaukee Nail Guns

Here are some wall mounted tool holders for Milwaukee nail guns, specifically the M12 23 Ga pIN Nailer 2540-20, the M18 15 Ga Finish Nailer 2839-20, and the M18 18 Ga Finish Nailer 2746-20. The little sliding lock is very satisfying. I made it in white and then just sharpied the red onto the raised letters. I printed them with a low % infill and they seem to be holding up just fine.  Thanks for looking! Maker World Link

I want to buy a 3D printer; it will be my first one.

For someone starting out in the world of 3D printing, who now wants to treat it as a hobby and print basic parts and figures, maybe even mixing colors. But as someone starting out just to have their printer in their room.

I have been recommended these:

Bamboo lab p1s

Bambu lab p2s

SNAPMAKER U1

Which one would you recommend to me, being more or less an expert on the subject. Would you recommend another one that doesn't appear here?

Recommendation for someone who doesn't know anything

Hi! I'm someone interested in the world of 3D printing who doesn't know anything about it. I'm new to all of this, but I'd love to get into it and stay.

I think I have a good PC, and from what I've been told, a good PC with a good printer can do good things. Is this true?

In any case, I'd love some advice for someone new who doesn't yet have a printer. I'm looking for a printer for a beginner, with an affordable price and good quality. Is that too much to ask? Does something like that exist? I'd love to have a good printer because I'd like to get started in this world and stick with it. I'm not looking for anything of poor quality or spam ads.

What would you give me before I advice start everything?

Thanks for everything!!!

I replaced my $70 Hakko PCB vise with a 3D printed one for $4 in materials — here's how

Like most of you I had a Hakko C1380C sitting on my bench. Great tool. But I got curious whether I could replicate the core function with a 3D printer.

Turns out — yes, pretty much entirely.

What it is:

Two PETG printed parts: weighted base + rotating octagonal head

Brass heat-set inserts for both locking knobs

Felt pads on friction surfaces for smooth rotation and PCB edge protection

Holds boards up to ~160mm wide

Full rotation + tilt lock

Total material cost: ~$4. Print time: ~3 hours on Bambu Lab.

The only things I buy are 2 brass inserts, 2 knobs, and a felt sheet. Everything else is printed.

Honestly, the Hakko sits on the shelf now. For prototyping and rework this does the same job.

Happy to answer questions about the design.

A snap on plate

I’m currently using a rock ‘n’ roll roller cart the R12RT Stealth Black one. Wondering if there is a plate that can snap into the bottom of the cart itself and at the same time, hold down the Packout cases locking them into place. Sometimes the bungee cords I use bungee get loose with sudden movements. A 3-D printed option would be also cool if there’s anyone in this group that’s made one.
