How would I go about smoothing these rough prints and welds + what are some recommended products to fill gaps?

Hi, to give context, I'm trying to make a helmet for my Hunk cosplay in time for Oz Comic Con (first time attending) so my friend is helping me print the pieces. I know nothing about 3D prints and making prop pieces, but I've been doing my research. Also note that my friend isn't an expert on 3D pritning either. So far, I've been soldering the pieces on and trying to fill those gaps with melted PLA.

My biggest issues that I tried to find online but couldn't get answers are:

  1. How to get smooth these rough prints in images 1-2, specifically the cross hatch patterns? They were left behind by the tree supports (which was a huge problem to remove).

  2. What's the best products for filling gaps (specifically links)? I've heard of using bondo alternatives (since I live in Aus) or wood filler, but I've also heard wood filler can vary depnding on the product. Ideally I wanna buy them from Bunnings or Amazon, on a budget.

  3. How do I sand uneven surfaces, e.g small "hills", flat? I try to sand them down, but I feel like I'm sanding unevenly.

I’m building a directory for local Australian 3D printing makers - looking for early listings

Hey everyone

I’m building a new Australian directory to help people discover local 3D printing makers for cosplay props, miniatures, functional prints, Gridfinity/Multiboard, homelab projects, electronics enclosures, and more.

I’ve noticed people are constantly asking where they can get things printed locally, and I’d often end up connecting them with friends or other makers nearby. After seeing it happen over and over, I thought it’d be useful to build a dedicated place to help people discover local makers more easily instead of digging through Facebook groups, marketplace or Etsy.

I’m currently looking for early makers to join the MVP launch.

You can submit:

  • hobbyist maker profiles
  • side hustles
  • small businesses

Listings are currently being manually reviewed and curated before publishing.

Submit your listing here:
https://tally.so/r/Y5pzZd

Would also appreciate feedback on what would make a directory like this genuinely useful for makers and customers.

Looking to go live with the site end of the month and will send an update to everyone beforehand.

Thanks for the support.

Just wanted to ask some advice from the experts

Hey there, bit of a newby to 3D printing, live down the south coast about an hour from Wollongong and my Mars 3 has been running into issues. I think the screen has burnt out, and I would take it in for repairs but I rang all sorts of places and nobody down here seems to offer such services. Any ideas how I could fix this or someone down the Shoalhaven area that fixes 3D printers? I'm happy to travel about to someplace like Wollongong too. Image is of the damaged part.

I created these portable enclosures for electronic circuits. I’d like to share them with fellow electronics DIY enthusiasts for their own projects. I designed various versions of boxes, front panels, and rear storage for multiple applications. I’d love to get your feedback and suggestions for further improvements.

Link to the model in the comments!"
