Seat swaps

Seat swaps

Looking into seat swaps for this gen, I have a set of prelude bucket seats but the rails are way different and need a good bit of modification, has anyone ever done this swap (I know someone who did the swap w an 84 but not the second gen) or what other seat swaps options are out there with minimal to no modifications?

picked up this '95

Drove it 100 miles home with no issues other than being massively gutless driving up hills. I've got a big to-do list and need to sort out a roof rack solution.

How cooked am I?

The whole frame is super solid besides my drivers side torsion bar mount is rotting. What are my options? I was thinking of SAS and repair this section but it would cost a lot. I could also find a donor frame and cut this section of frame and have it welded in potentially?

275/70R16 ☑️

It is with great pleasure to inform you all after much rumination, the 275/70R16 BF Goodrich KO3s fit like a glove on the '94 wide body.

Running a set of SSR Auswuch 16" 8j -1mm offset wheels (8.5j -7mm spare)

No issues with rubbing at lock. It's _right_ there though... I think there'd be interference with the liner at the rear of the well with significant articulation. Does brilliantly on bumps, humps and mall crawling though.

I couldn't find much info for this setup while I was considering sizing so hopefully this post might be useful to someone in the future.

1.5” lift on 31s

Would a 1.5” lift look good or weird on 31s? Hard to find pics of it ones with that setup but I’d like to do a slight lift (1.5”) and get 1.5” spacers. If anyone has any input I’d love some!

Charcoal Cannister

I run a ‘95 with a 5VZE swap. We did the method where you keep the original A340F transmission and use the plenum and ECU from a T100. My charcoal canister has gone bad and they’re no longer available. Does anybody know another available can I can substitute? T100 used the same part 77740-35260. Has anybody tried 77740-35470 from a 3.4 Tacoma or does anybody know another that I could swap in?

1993 4Runner 3VZ-E Runs Smooth Then Cuts Out Under Acceleration Before Kicking Back In

1993 Toyota 4Runner 3.0 V6 (3VZ-E) — looking for help diagnosing bucking/misfire/backfire under acceleration once warm.

The truck has improved a LOT recently, but I’m still chasing an intermittent issue. It idles pretty smooth now and cruises at steady throttle surprisingly well. The issue mainly shows up under acceleration/load.

Symptoms:
• Gets smooth consistent power for a few seconds, then suddenly cuts out/bucks like fuel or spark disappears, then kicks back in again
• Occasional backfire/misfire, especially once warm
• Slight tach fluctuation instead of perfectly steady RPM
• CEL intermittently comes on while driving
• Runs noticeably better after recent repairs, but still not fully right

Parts replaced so far:
• Distributor
• Ignition coil
• Igniter
• Spark plugs
• TPS
• Fuel injector relay
• Fuel pump
• Fuel filter
• Fuel injector connectors/pigtails

Other context:
• Toyota dealership previously found poor continuity at injector terminals
• Replacing the injector connectors made a huge improvement
• Cylinders 2/4/6 had aftermarket injectors while 1/3/5 appeared OEM. I now have 6 refurbished Denso injectors ready to install
• Mechanic also adjusted timing recently
• Exhaust is old/rusted and patched in spots

When jumping TE1/E1 in the diagnostic box I get code 14.

Before I keep throwing parts at it, what would you guys check next on a 3VZ-E with these symptoms? Curious whether this sounds more like igniter/wiring, grounds, AFM, vacuum leak, injector issue, exhaust restriction, or something else.

Are your glass headlights shit?

My headlights were foggy. The glass had fogged. I was able to fix them. I used an orbital/vibrating sander with 80 grit sandpaper and alot of water sprayed over it. That sounds like alot but going lower wont help you. You have to take off the bad layer then yoI fill it with clear coat. Just clear coat in a can works wonders. Do.a.cpuple.coats and you will be laughing as you can see.

Fun fact. They are the same lights as an MK patrol (Nissan). And probably more older cars!

lift?

to lift or not to lift? I have got the grandma sag that we all know and love and was thinking of doing the Dobinsons 2" lift kit. For reference I live in a small town deep in the Colorado Rockies, however only plan on staying here till fall, then would be heading down to live in northern Florida.

My question is how useful is the 2" lift kit? I was considering just replacing the Front & Rear shocks and rear springs, and not really messing with the torsion bars. If i were to stick with just doing the rear springs do I stick with OEM or upgrade to mid tension Springs.
