Camera check!

What cameras are y’all using to take photos?

I wanna get into it, but I don’t have any gear beyond an iPhone, and an iPhone is functional but it barely counts as a camera.

Photos from sonoma, devleoped around a month ago

Been here a couple times, absolutelylove it. Old development center in Sonoma. Haven't shot recently but will be back at it. I liked em even though I metered too much for the sky on the 3rd pic

Some prints I just did today of the protests I covered this past month 👉🏻👈🏻

There's two photos per protest, cuz otherwise I'd include a gazillion stuff. I also didn't include all the under events I covered and some other non protest events for similar reasons. I printed 58 photos today 😭 (my wallet suffered, but I skipped printing the whole month because I was broke and didn't really have time).

I won't epigraph all the photos but they're from:

Four Wednesday protests where the elderly people protest cuz their wages are below the poverty line and they can't afford housing, food and medicine. Their situation is very dire, so I try to go every Wednesday to stand by them, and since photography is my vehicle to inhabit any space because I'm such a HUGE introvert, I document as much as I can of their fight (it's been six months already, I'm considering perhaps doing something with the archive I'm building? Opinions?)

The 28J protest against tranfemicides, transhomicides, hate crimes, the lack of gubernamental support. Sht did I cry on this one. But I think I probably took my favorite photo in a looong time this protest, which would be the portrait of a friend in the bottom right corner. Also, oddly enough a lot of photographers wanted to photograph me? I looked like ass, I literally had spent the whole night prior photographing an under event and had barely any sleep. While I've gonne less produced to pride events... I've also been more produced, I'm still baffled as of why anyone would want to photograph me of all people. At least I got to show off the "Fuck the cis-tem" sticker on my flash.

The 3J protest against gender violence, femicides and transfemicides. This one was also very intense for me, very emotional. I'm a crybaby and I cried loads, but it was nice to be between so many other women. I won't lie, many photos I took between tears. I was also photographed a bunch, but I had gone really thoughtfully for that one. One photo I wish to stumble upon tho is one of me photographing the cops as they were marching towards us protesting women sitting down (we successfully halted their advance). I have a photo of all this scene I'm describing, but I got it framed and I don't want to disturb it. I also gifted it to my dad since he works in a school and I want his students to know that they are strong and heard if they go into his office.

So yeah, that's a little bit of my experience photographing protests this past month. It's been exhausting, mainly because of the clash between my extreme introversion and my up-close ultra wide angle style of photography where I like to engage with whoever I'm photographing. But I'm already looking forward to July! At least I'll have a small break from school assignments during the winter break (F I should do all the ones I owe!). Ftr, none of these protest photos were school assignments, cuz the professor deems protests during the current presidency to bee too dangerous and he doesn't want to put any student in danger for a school assignment.

Sorry if this felt a lot like some yapping nonesense, to be fair I doubt anyone is reading, but here's a 🍪 for your effort. Thanks ^-^✿

Isn't pride a great opportunity for photos?

I am phoneposting this time. I used an app to transfer a bunch of photos from the weekend into my phone, but also, this is kinda the most striking of photos I took and could find from browsing through a camera manufacturer's app.

I'll probably post more photos after going to a couple more events.
