Thoughts on Kirby’s return to Captain America?
I am tearing through this omnibus; absolutely loving it. It’s not peak Kirby but it’s certainly up there. I can’t get over how much hate he’s taking in the letters columns. Who were the unnamed editors that kept printing these derisive comments? Was there really this much shade brewing against Jack’s return to Marvel?
For the record I definitely prefer his DC & 4th World stuff, but I am really enjoying this run. And with all the “new wave” stories and creators that Marvel was experiencing in the 70s, it’s easy to see why this more old-school approach wouldn’t win people over. But from the perspective of today they’re great. Any thoughts?
“Yo Marie, Walter the Dasher is here with our order of Burritos. I think you know this Walter!”
Anyone old enough to remember when the new X-men came out in 1975?
What was it like reading/ignoring the reprints and then getting hit with GSX1? What were your first reactions? I’m very curious about how this change was taken at the time. Tell your stories!

This might be useful to help you grade comics
Hello fellow comic book fans. Just want to share an exciting new and free tool and resource we have created (and are testing out). It is the ComicOracle’s Oracle Chat for grading any comic. It’s an intuitive tool that asks you questions to give you an estimated grade, that you can use for comics you are considering buying or comics you own. Feel free to give it a try (its inside comicoracle when you go to the menu bar of the platform, just go to comicoracle.com and then go to Login).
**Mods I hope this message is ok, just sharing a useful free tool*
