Silver Surfer: Parable

Silver Surfer: Parable

Did Marvel drop the ball on this one? Stan Lee is a legend, but by the 80s he was not at the top of his form. Having Moebius draw a comic for them was a monumental event, but I feel like Walt Simonson, John Byrne or (though there’s no way he would do it) Alan Moore would have been infinitely better choices. It’s still a good comic, but would you have kept Stan on it or gotten someone else?

Dirty Pair Sim Hell (1993)

Story and art by Adam Warren!

During their annual evaluative review, the minds of the Lovely Angels become trapped in a combat simulation!

Unfortunately, I don't have the complete mini, nor do I have any of the other Dark Horse adventures! Perhaps I'll find them in the bins one day!

How’s JUSTICE LEAGUE EUROPE without DeMatteis?

I’ve been rereading all my old Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League comics, and absolutely loving them. They‘re two of my all time favorite mainstream creators. I stopped getting JLE after DeMatteis left the title at issue 10. Should I track down the rest of the run, or did it drop off in quality? Not sure how long Bart Sears stuck around, but he is definitely an under appreciated artist from this era. Any thoughts or comments?

Frank Miller's Sin City

Is there any other comic book that's as synonymous with its creator the way Sin City is?

Maybe Will Eisner's The Spirit.

Hellboy....kind of. But I still don't think it's as instant a connection to Mignola as Sin City is to Frank...

This past weekend's pickups.

Already had ASM 252 and SW 8, but added Team Up 141 to complete the trinity.

Added more to the Jim Lee and Todd McFarlane collections.

Supergirl and Team Luthor #1 (1993)

See what happens when you kill Superman?

You end up with stuff like this. Lex Luthor is a clone of himself. Partly because the Kryptonite ring he was wearing gave him space cancer but also why be bald when you can have luscious locks of hair and a manly lumberjack beard.

He's also in love with Supergirl. But don't worry, this is not Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El. Instead it's a shape-shifting alien from a pocket universe called Matrix.

The 90s were wild but at least we got some cool Supergirl pin-ups out of it.
