Ideas for future updates/DLC

Firstly, I know this may not be realistic to expect, but a man can dream, and he can share those dreams in the hopes that maybe some part comes true.

Customisation:

• Allow cloaks to be added to any outfit based on Edward's robes

• Add headwear customisation so hoods, hats, or bandanas can be worn, just the existing stuff in the game would be fine, but more content is always better

• More crew customisation, maybe assassin crew, or crew attire like the Pacific pirate DLC stuff, but without the stupid glowing/neon stuff

• I would love to see blowpipe options, even if it was only cosmetic, I think it'd be cool to change it for a different design

Gameplay:

• Pirate hunters being able to board the Jackdaw

• Allow forts to be repaired and upgraded (make it expensive and resource heavy to give a reason to keep up the piracy), and allow them to be lost through random chance if outside of the region, so we can retake them, maybe retaking them resets their level

• Additional functionality for forts would be good, too, maybe add some shops and allow the fleet to be managed from them, maybe each fort can have a ship assigned from the fleet that will defend it, could also all come from upgrades to them

• If all forts are currently under your control, allow fleet missions that can go to other parts of the world, and bring in more resources

Additional content:

• A story expansion would be great to see, especially with a decent map size, but maybe with some new challenges for ship and on-foot, and that allows us to move between maps

• Blunderbuss. Maybe you could pick either blunderbuss or blowpipe, and the blunderbuss could be blast that damages all enemies in a short cone

• Bring back throwing knives

Is Resync more enjoyable if you've never played the original?

I've played roughly 5 hours or so of the original Black Flag but never really got into it. Honestly I never really enjoyed the original Assassin's Creed games when I was younger and didn't really get into the series until Origins. I vaguely remember renting Black Flag for my 360 but didn't get past Havana and remember there being some tailing quest that happened early on that I disliked enough to put the game down. I would've been a young teen at the time so please don't judge me too harshly.

Anyways I picked up a PS5 Pro last October and have had my eye on Resync for awhile now, finally decided to buy it a few days ago. I feel like all the negative stuff I've read about the game has come from fans of the original critiquing certain aspects that have been downgraded or removed (stuff like how Edward lifted his legs up high when running in water etc etc).

My experience so far has been absolutely incredible however. Not only did I love Havana but just walking around and looking for little gold / white dots was a total blast. I also really loved how many little physical props are scattered all over the place that can be destroyed. This was my favorite aspect of Shadows (a game that I enjoyed but didn't love). I also love how detailed the destruction is when it comes to ship battles, and seeing my cannon balls tear holes realistically into the side of ship hulls or thru their masts makes ship combat feel weighty and enjoyable. I don't know how much has changed from the original and I'm still very early (only just unlocked the Cove) but the game has absolutely surpassed my expectations and then some.

Anyone else here that never played the original also feel the same? And is there anyone else here that played thru the original and prefer Resync?

TL;DR: Is Resync more enjoyable if you've never played the original?

Spoilers: I'm curious, did anyone play Black Flag, Rogue, and AC3 out of order?

Ive been playing since the first game, so I've played almost every mainline game in the series (sorry, Valhalla and Shadows) in release order.

One of the depressing things about Black Flag is knowing what eventually happens to Edward. Even before reading up on the lore, you know he isn't involved in the events of AC3, and you also know that his son, Haytham, will become a Templar, while his grandson, Connor, will eventually assassinate him. It makes Black Flag's otherwise happy ending feel a little bittersweet — maybe even melancholy — because you know where the Kenway family story is ultimately headed.

Playing Rogue afterward also feels a little strange for a similar reason. You already know that Achilles and Haytham will still be alive by the time of AC3, which takes away some of the tension and stakes surrounding those characters.

So my question is: did any of you play the games out of order? For example, did you play them chronologically (BF → Rogue → 3), or maybe BF → 3 → Rogue? How did that affect your view of the story? Did playing them in a different order change your perception of certain events or characters?

For example, I played Unity before Rogue because I only had a PS4 at the time, and Rogue was still a PS3 exclusive. So when Rogue was eventually released on PS4, I was completely caught off guard when >!Shay killed Arno's father, and the ending of Rogue essentially became the beginning of Unity.!<

I'm curious if anyone else had a similar experience playing the series out of order.

UBI PLEASE

Is it too much to ask for the starting mission outfit and this "marooned" outfit to be brought into the game? Would just like more pirate themes to be added to consoles

'A World Without Gold' - Content that feels out of place that almost ruined Edward Kenway for me. Honest opinion

I had seen a lot of posts about this additional content, and now that ive finished it myself, I completely get what people were on about.

I don't mind the story thats told here, even though its painfully obvious that both the cutscenes and the writing don't come close to the original work. The point in the story that this quest appears doable is just honestly ridiculous. We have a character thats just gone through Mary read dieing in prison and coming to the realisation on what effect being obsessed with gold and finding the observatory was having on him. Then I play a world without gold and see Edward repeating the same mistakes again resulting in Maynard tricking him twice with the same trick of seeking gold and this time almost losing both his ship again and his 3 officers. I can understand edward being tricked once since yes it can be difficult to get over old habits, but twice just makes him look pathetic.

If this whole sequence took place before Edward finds the observatory and went to prison, it would have made a ton more sense for Edwards character development. Having this happen just after he's made amends and joined the Assassins comes very close to just ruining Edward for me entirely. A good point to place this is just after the mission where Roberts requests Edwards aid a couple months after the principe sequence allowing a good amount of time.

I also really have to comment on the ending... because its honestly terrible. Edward bests Maynard in combat, yet somehow he magically gets away after throwing the key in the ocean, Edward grabs it and suddenly we are back at the hideout. No additional gameplay to save them or fend off more british, just a fade to black. This feels extremely lazy and rushed and doesn't really feel like we've "avenged blackbeard" in any way other than making Edward look like a fool the entire questline.

This hasn't ruined the game overall for me, but i am disappointed at how this new content has been handled to the point where it felt unofficial. I'd rather it just not exist or just moved to a point in the main story where it actually made sense.

What the hell does the "Crew" resource actually do, does it even matter?

Only thing I'm really confused about in the game is the "crew" resource and the point of rescuing floating people or gaining crew from boarding raids because it doesn't seem to matter at all. As far as I can tell I can't even see how many "crew" I have when I look through all of the pause menus to let me know how many I currently have. I never seem to see any issue about losing any of them during naval fights or boarding raids either I just need to worry about mine and the ship's HP. I keep picking up random people and getting +1 crew but where do they actually go??? I see upgrades for things on my ship like upgrading the number of crew I can have from 10 to 20 but what's the point in buying that upgrade?

Does the crew resource even exist or is it just a pretend thing that's nothing more than a "+1 gained" number on the screen when you get more?

How are you even supposed to beat the Twin ships?

I’ve been bashing my head agaisnt the wall for an hour and may just skip it. I have no idea how you’re supposed to do this fight or how it’s supposed to be fun.

If I focus fire on one the second one can take down my entire health bare in seconds with no change to block or avoid or anything. If I split my focus the entire ocean becomes a mine field and I die in second if I make a wrong move.

Seriously who designed this BS?

New Animus Rewards? Stockpile of keys

So I've got about 39000 Helix Keys right now (doing all anomalies on Shadows and BFR everytime). Granted, I've never spent any of them on the exchange in Shadows because of it being RNG in what will be on offer from the paid items. However I have unlocked all exchange items in BFR since they are unique in BFR's case.

But my stockpile of keys is just getting larger and there is nothing to spend it on in BFR. I hope they will release some new items eventually. Either that, or I'll have to wait untill the next main installment of AC and I'll be able to just unlock everything the moment it's available, which seems weird too. I really don't feel like purchasing bits and parts of store items in Shadows.

How do yall think New game plus will work in Resynced

(Minor spoilers stating the themes and purpose of the story) (They are spoiler marked but it’s nothing major)

What features would y’all like to see in New Game Plus for Assassins Creed Blackflag Resynced

This is the first game in forever where enemies aren’t level gated and neither are you. Although I forget mirage was actually similar so maybe new game plus will be similar. I just remember shadows difficulty system and level gating being very annoying. So I’m glad to have an enjoyable game again.

I for one wish that what you keep into new game plus could become optional.

I wanna keep all my customisation and weapons but I really don’t wanna start the game with a maxed out Jackdaw with golden cannons while Edward’s story is about >!>!being poor from privateering and gaining wealth through piracy. A Golden!<!< Jackdaw doesn’t reflect that rather it contradicts that narrative.

A maxed out Hideout will also be strange as well. Because the hideout is part of a questline to >!>!build a home for the possible future with Caroline.!<!< I think you do it for the >!>!butler!<!< too.

Imo your skills, weapons, trinkets and customisation is all you need. The jackdaw would be atleast one fun thing we have to look forward to working towards again.

Also you only encounter cutters and schooners for the first several hours of the game. Even on hard difficulty with a maxed out jackdaw it be boringly too easy.

Seán Dagher on the life of a Shanty Man, singing in pubs to welcoming and not-so-welcoming crowds, and composing modern sea shanties for Black Flag Resynced

Seán Dagher has sung for the Assassin's Creed games since AC3, and his role steadily grew to the point where he was composing modern sea shanties based on historical material for Black Flag Resynced.

Sea shanties in general have been resurging in popularity, and Dagher has no doubt that gaming is the biggest factor.

He goes through his process in this interview of curating verses (one shanty might have over 100 traditional verses to choose from), composing new but historically faithful material, and recording with the Assassin's Creed and Windrose producers, as well as other interesting projects like recreating French Trobairitz songs for which the melodies were lost to time.
