Help save Bert’s life (life saving surgery)

Hiya, this is Bert. She is a female leopard gecko who is just over a year old. A few weeks ago I took her to an exotic vet, as I had concerns with her lack of eating and extremely thin tail. During this appointment, I was told that she was healthy however I felt that she was not properly examined. Her stomach was not checked, which leads me onto yesterday morning. I took Bert back to the vets, as she still wasn’t eating and her tail was getting thinner. During this appointment, her stomach was checked and I felt that she was examined properly. The vet told me that she would require an ultrasound as he suspected that she had an inflamed ovary. After the ultrasound was complete, it was confirmed that one of her ovaries was inflamed and neurotic. He also did not rule out the possibility of it being a tumour, which he would only be able to know during surgery. I was told that the only way for Bert to get better was to remove the ovary in surgery as this is life threatening. I felt that Bert was misdiagnosed and was told by the vet that if she was checked properly in the previous appointment, this could’ve been resolved earlier and maybe didn’t require surgery. Surgery will be quite expensive, and will come to around 1000 along with the costs of the ultrasound. I am only 18 so I do not have the funds for this surgery. I would be extremely grateful for any help. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Angelito’s 2nd Vet Visit Update today| Rescued Senior Dog after being st*bbed by previous owner #VoicelessNoMorePH

Hi everyone,

Angelito’s recovery is not going to be easy, but he is not facing it alone. 🤍

His red blood cell count remains low, so he will receive five EPO injection treatments this week while he works on regaining his strength. For now, amputation is not recommended, so we will continue caring for his injury, keeping it clean, and bringing him to his follow-up checkups.

We also provided prescription more recovery food, dextrose powder, and cleaning supplies for the shelter to help support Angelito and protect the other animals. We will continue sending financial support to help with his transportation and medical needs.

Through everything he has endured, Angelito is loved, seen, and genuinely cared for. His life MATTERS, and we will continue doing everything we can to give him the chance he deserves.

To anyone who would like to provide financial support for Angelito, please visit our website, which is shown in the video. I will also be sharing another link in the comment section. To be honest, Angelito is already the 5th rescued animal we have had at the veterinary clinic this week, and with multiple animals needing medical care at the same time, the costs can quickly become overwhelming. We appreciate everyone who continues to support our rescued animals🤍

For your safety, please double-check that the link was posted by me and comes from our official account before sending any financial support. 🤍

Thank you so much for helping us continue to care for Angelito and our other rescued animals. Every bit of support truly makes a difference. Will keep posting updates.

Sincerely,

Need advice on taking care after a single guinea pig

I've had a single guinea pig for a year now, at first it was fine, but as I researched more and more about guinea pigs I found out that having them not in pairs is a horrible idea. My parents won't let me get a second one because of they think it will be a larger hassle and their financial situation. I've thought of giving my guinea pig a new owner since I think my guinea pigs current home isn't it's deserved home. Please tell me something I can do to make my guinea pigs life at least a little less miserable.

Dexter needs surgery to breathe

Update: $970 away now!! Thank you everyone for interacting and supporting, I really appreciate it more than I can say ❤️

Hey Reddit

I’m trying to raise the remaining funds for my sweet boys surgery, I’m $1,028 away from our goal.

Dexter is 13 years old, I’ve had him since 8 weeks old. He’s the sweetest most loving little man and he has so much life left in him yet.

He’s eating, drinking and going to the washroom completely normally… he just snores like a grown man lives in my house and sneezes… a lot! He also has eye discharge on one side.

Dexter has had ongoing sinus issues for months, he’s been on and off four different prescriptions that give him mild relief temporarily, once he’s off the meds, his issues return. He has sinus discharge, severe congestion and breathes heavily right now. His condition is slowly worsening and I’m running out of time.

I’ve been busting my butt, saved majority myself picking up extra work and side gigs, but I can’t do it quick enough. I’m not giving up! But I need a little help to get the rest of the way there in a timely manner.

I’m in Canada so there’s no creator fund or paid views on IG or TT. I’ve exhausted all my options locally with the humane society and tried discussing with my vet to do a payment plan on the remaining balance but they want payment in full, $3100 (estimate).

If I can figure it out (I’m new to Reddit) I’ll attach the video of him sleeping to this post, with his estimate and vet information.

I have set up a gofundme and I also have PayPal and e-transfer (Canadians) as a donation option if you’d prefer:

https://gofund.me/9f7a30e83
PayPal: Kate001713
TikTik @dexterman17
IG: @littledexterman17

Literally anything helps right now! If you can’t, going to our socials and helping engage with videos would be a huge help! I’d be grateful for any help that you can manage.

Thanks for reading!
Kate & Dexter

I can’t seem to add more pictures, only one video. I will upload the vet estimate in the comments, sorry everyone!

Hard decision.

How do you know when it's their time? My girl has had two seizures over the weekend I'm having such a hard time with it. Nobody will cover the vet bill, we're low on money, and I don't want her suffering at all anymore.

We had to let our other cat go only 8 months ago and losing her babygirl so close together feels like a punch in the gut.

Angel: the Neglected Husky who Survived| Vet Update #VoicelessNoMorePH

Hi everyone,

Angelina “Angel” JULYie (bec she was rescued on July 4, 2026) went for her follow-up checkup yesterday.

Dr. Padilla explained that during her checkup when she got rescued, they found ticks, but her blood work did not yet indicate that she had a blood parasite. She was treated for the ticks at that time.

Unfortunately, her latest blood work now shows that Angel is positive for Babesia, a blood parasite. We’re grateful that it was detected so we can treat her properly.
The good news is that her fungal infection is getting better, and she is also eating much more and gaining weight. Honestly, I cannot wait until this sweet girl is completely healthy again.

Once Angel has recovered, we will have her spayed and then begin looking for a loving family for her.
That is my dream for all of our rescued animals. I never want them to spend the rest of their lives in shelters. I want every single one of them to eventually experience a safe home, a loving family, and the life they deserve.

Her veterinary bill yesterday was:
Php 4,930 ($111.89 CAD)

It may not seem like a lot to some people, but when you are caring for many rescued animals, these expenses add up quickly. We help cover their weekly and monthly veterinary care, medications, specialized diets, daily food, shelter support, transportation, and other necessities.

We also sponsor programs such as free spay/neuter initiatives in the Philippines to help prevent more animals from ending up on the streets.

If you would like to help support our mission, I will leave a link in the comments for anyone who would like to provide financial support.

Please know that this is completely voluntary.

We believe that animal welfare is community work, and we cannot do this alone.

We are a very small, newly established non-profit, and we do not receive government grants or funding from third parties. Every bit of support, whether through
financial contributions, sharing our posts, sharing kind words, or simply helping spread awareness, makes a difference.

Thank you for caring about Angel and all the other animals we are trying to help.🤍

Sincerely,

This is a go fundme I made for my cat, she may have gotten into onions so we took her to the vet. The medical quote was over 1600 canadian...well beyond my current amount of income. Anything helps as the only other option would be putting her down, and I really dont want to have to do that. Attached is a photo of the vet bill. And this is the link with more information. https://gofund.me/565e934af

Help Pinto get surgery to correct his pectus excavatum

Baby Pinto has a recently discovered congenital defect that means his bones are preventing his lungs from expanding -- his case is pretty severe, and he currently only has about 50% lung capacity (x-ray shows how his sternum curves up toward his spine way more than it should). We're hoping to get him fitted with an external splint that will slowly correct the shape of his chest before 12 weeks of age, while his bones are malleable enough for a successful outcome. Without this surgery his quality of life will continue to decline, and the vets have told us his life expectancy is a few more months at best.

Please help us give Pinto a long and healthy life! Elizabeth has Pinto's full story and all the medical and financial details on the crowdfunder page we set up, and the Animal Aid organization he was adopted from is also accepting direct donations under Pinto's name. We're asking for funds for his full treatment plan -- 2026 has been brutal and Elizabeth themself has had multiple unexpected ER visits the past month, so all our emergency savings are gone. In the case that we're unable to fully fund the surgery, donations will cover his past bills and the rest will go directly to Animal Aid to help other pets in need.

Thank you for taking the time to read this 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Anything you can do to help is so, so appreciated.

Small circular holes on head and red areas

This beautiful kitty came up to me and I was heartbroken to find nasty looking marks on their head, I was really upset to leave them in this state but it’s not my cat and I also didn’t want to potentially catch anything.
It’s not super clear in the photos but if anyone knows what this could be it would help, I genuinely have a pit in my stomach I love cats and just wanna comfort them :(

Pooping blood?? How to help.

Before I say anything, I’ve taken him to the vet twice and my bank account is suffering rn.. So my boy started eating a lot of grass about 2 months ago. Started acting kind of lazy and just not his normal crazy self. So I took him to the vet, they did a poop test and prescribed some provable and that’s pretty much it, I was low on money didn’t really have any other options to do anything else. But must I add I don’t like the vet he’s currently going to, but I didn’t realize this until his most recent visit. Anyway, he was fine for about a month. Kept eating grass and making himself throw up. Fast forward to almost 2 weeks ago, he started pooping blood and not eating food as much. I took him to the vet the second I seen blood in his stool. They did another poop test, I had a little bit more money than last time so I did a gi panel and an x ray. X ray came back good no mass no blockage anything of that sort. Gi panel came back as his b12 levels were low. The vet said he probably has small intestinal disease or dysbiosis. They prescribed some meds and it didn’t help the first week, I was feeding him chicken and rice because he wouldn’t eat anything else. Eventually he stopped eating the chicken and rice so the vet told me to feed him eggs, it’s the only thing he’d eat. I figured it’s better for him to eat that than nothing. Anyways so that probably messed up his stomach more than if he just wouldn’t have ate. Anyways. I ordered a specialized food for him to eat, purina pro plan en gastreoenteric. He’s still refusing to eat and on Wednesday it’ll be 2 weeks that he’s pooping blood and probably about 2 days since he’s eating anything. And he only ate super small amounts and then would refuse food again. I got him b12 vitamins that the vet recommend and started giving him those yesterday. He refused to eat that so I had to shove it down his throat. I’m just at a loss. He’s pooping nothing but blood, having to use the bathroom every 2 hours and that’s driving me nuts at night. I don’t have any money to take him to the vet again… I spent all my money trying to make him feel better, different medicines,$130 bag of food. The vet 2 different times. I can’t even afford my car payment this month😔. So there’s literally absolutely no way I can take him to the vet. He’s still drinking water and google said basically that’s the only reason he’s still alive. I don’t want him to die and I couldn’t stand losing him. He’s been my bestfriend for the past 3 years but I seriously cannot afford another vet visit with people who don’t even listen. This vet is seriously so rushy and barely took the time to listen to me. Didn’t ask what kind of food he was on or anything. I had to do my own research to figure out that I should switch his food. I just don’t know what to do. Ig I came here for some advice or some relief that he’ll be okay. He’s my first dog so I really have no idea if the vet was ever right about small intestinal disease or not. Any advice is much appreciated. And I can tell he’s lost weight.

Maragondon Rescue - 2 dogs

Hi everyone,

Over the past couple of weeks, I temporarily paused taking in new rescues so I could focus on helping our current rescued animals recover and regain their health. I also didn't want to place any new rescues in just any shelter, as finding facilities in the Philippines that consistently provide quality care can be incredibly challenging.

I am grateful to share that we have collaborated with Pages for Paws, a shelter whose work I trust. We have decided to collaborate on rescue efforts, and today we are rescuing these two dogs in Maragondon, Cavite.
The pet transport team is already on its way to pick them up. Since the veterinary clinic is now closed, the dogs will spend the night at the shelter and will be transferred to the vet first thing tomorrow morning for a full medical assessment and treatment. Voiceless No More: Philippines Stray Animals Foundation will be their main sponsor. This means we will cover their medical expenses and anything they need to help them recover and also basic necessities. Our commitment does not end after they get rescued.

I am honestly heartbroken. The person who reported these dogs to us is a family member of the owner. Apparently, the owner is currently unemployed and is no longer able to care for them. While I understand that people can face incredibly difficult circumstances, it is devastating to see animals suffer to this extent.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our rescue efforts. I will share more updates as soon as the dogs arrive safely and we receive an assessment from the veterinary clinic.

This is upsetting 💔

Help needed for Gail’s medical bills!

I woke up this morning to my senior cat Gail’s chin being nearly three times the size. I worry it’ll get bigger and he’ll start to struggle to breathe.
I cannot afford the thousands of dollars the vets are estimating as I am disabled and rely on my partner who won’t be able to pay rent if he drops thousands right now.
I made a go fund me to help get Gail the care he deserves. Please click the link in my bio to find it!
Please consider donating if you can! Please don’t donate if you’re struggling or in debt!
I want to get him to the vet asap!!
Thank you so much if you help, he’s a sweet boy and he doesn’t deserve to suffer because of my disabilities and inability to provide for him.
I will ofc update yall on his condition🫶

bald spot/bump on ear

im a minor, we just lost my wobbly kitty in may. the only way i can get her to a vet unless it is an emergency is if i pay for it myself but i have literally 0 dollars. i noticed this bald spot on my 3 year old cat's back a few months ago, i looked it up and found nothing so ive just been watching it and making sure it didnt get bigger or red or anything. it doesnt seem to bother her at all but she has dandruff, idk if it’s because of the spot though. then a few days ago i noticed this bump on her ear, it doesnt really bother her either even when i touch it but my kitty goop was fine that morning and by 1am he was euthanized. i have a senior baby too. im so scared something is seriously wrong 😭😭

Help my 1yo dog Kiwi get urgent knee surgery🐾❤️

https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-kiwi-heal-after-surgery

Hi folks! 👋 🐾❤️

My 1yo cairn terrier, Kiwi, already needs a CCWO surgery. Her rear legs have one ruptured CCL (like an ACL) and one torn. I am hoping to find support for $2600 to cover all of my out of pocket costs so far and my portion of Kiwi’s surgery expenses, though this number doesn’t include any follow up or quality of life expenses for her. I’ve included screenshots showing amounts - they are highlighted in neon on the screenshots. You’ll see that Kiwi’s insurance is able to cover roughly 2-3 of her surgical costs but the out of pocket funds is overwhelming.

Kiwi was rescued by myself and my partner at the time - we broke up 1.5 months ago. They do not want to see Kiwi at all and have gone no contact with me partially because of my mental health. This has been very overwhelming, and a huge financial strain to not have my ex and their family’s support through this. My parents are able to help out a portion, but they have been helping me financially since last December when my mental and physical health has deteriorated. I have shared on both my and Kiwi’s socials as well as other online groups.

If you have any extra funds, even a couple of dollars, that would be so so appreciated. I know money is tight for all right now, so if that is not feasible would you can just share? Kiwi’s instagram is misskiwipup and I will be posting updates on her journey to both her page and GoFundMe.

may your generosity return to you tenfold,
Erin + Kiwi 💜

Help ASAP

Hello. My beloved Tabby, had ingested a small drop of Ruda Rue plant extract while I was cleansing. I was doing my best to be very careful, but things happen anyways. He threw up twice around 4am, and took a nap with me. He then woke around 610am & retched a few times & threw up again. I’m waiting on the nearest VET to open around 8, however I’m wondering if this will take my cat’s life? I’m very uneasy. Not finding it on the toxic or non toxic list on ASPCA not finding answers anywhere. Help is needed. My cat is a 1 year old tabby, whom is less than 10 pounds.

Meet Gizmo: He is our 19-month-old Patti Yorke and he needs your help 🩵🐶

We are trying to raise funds for Gizmo’s upcoming surgery and the unexpected medical care that has brought us here.

We are attempting to raise funds to help us pay for Gizmo’s upcoming surgery. Gizmo is our 19-month-old, 3-pound parti Yorkie who has been through an incredible amount in a very short time. A couple of weeks ago he was in extreme pain, mewing and couldn’t use the bathroom. He took him to our vet who told us to immediately head to the emergency room because he was critical. What we discovered was that he had a bladder stone that was blocking his ability to urinate and caused bladder obstruction. After 5 days in the ICU, he discharged him to have an operation with our vet (since the costs were substantially lower). Upon discharging him, we discovered his tests had came back showing he had a liver shunt and his vet could not perform the cystotomy to resolve the bladder stone because he wouldn’t survive. He also let us know that the hospital we had been at is the only one in our area that could do the shunt correction. We considered traveling to Ohio, but I am also my mother’s full time caregiver and she has terminal cancer (I say this not for sympathy, just so you know we have considered many alternatives), so leaving her for a few days simply was not an option. We scheduled his surgery with Metropolitan Animal Hospital for August 25th.

Last Sunday, we found ourselves back in the emergency room, back in ICU as Gizmo was displaying some neurological symptoms. He was falling over, pacing, and getting stuck in corners. He had also been throwing-up quite a bit. We discovered then that with the shunt, toxins cannot be filtered through his liver like normal and he had hepatic encephalopathy. We discharged from the hospital the following day and then followed up with his vet again. The plan now is to treat medicated for 2 weeks (as surgery at this stage can be deadly) and get him to surgery. At no point do we intend to allow our boy to suffer though. If we have to make a more difficult decision, we will. His vet assured us we aren’t there yet though.

Now comes the financial part. We paid nearly $7000 out of pocket for his initial ICU visits, including CareCredit. We have exhausted our pet emergency funds, and paid the additional costs we have incurred for the other hospitalization, medicine, and the prescription diet. We are not asking or expecting strangers to pay for everything. We are responsible pet owners and saved for rainy days, but we were not at all prepared for the flood). We have contacted all the local charities, and sold anything we could. We are only asking for help bridging the gap between the initial surgery we thought we were facing and the additional care that has become necessary, including his shunt correction and most recent hospitalization.

I never expected to be in a position where I would have to ask for help. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t. But if asking for help gives Gizmo the chance to get the surgery he needs and come home healthy, then I’ll put my pride aside and do it. I know for so many, this is absurd, but our family has had a very difficult year already with my mom’s diagnosis and losing another close family member. Saying goodbye to someone else we love, canine or human, just seems unbearable and I do not want to put my children through this.

All that I ask is that if you’re unable to donate or this isn’t a cause you support, please scroll. We have been met with so much love from Reddit Communities, but we have also received some extremely cruel messages and it- accompanied with everything- is taking a real toll on my mental health. We are a real family (people), as are you. We would never meet you with judgement and ridicule for doing what you felt in your heart was best. Im just asking for the same respect in return. If you are unable to donate, but this cause touched you, please share.

We promise anything we raise that is not needed for his care will be donated to The Shamrock Foundation in Louisville, KY. We do not want to make money off of this and we know other families could use the support as well. It’s never more been our intention to profit, only to recover and I’d love the ability to spread more love to deserving pet families.

If you’re able to donate see comments (I am told that’s the proper way to handle this) or visit r/YorkieLife for more details. If you’d rather donate to the hospital directly, please message me and I’ll send you the details.

We’re going to keep doing everything we can on our end, and we’re going to keep hoping that August 25 brings us one step closer to getting Gizmo healthy and home for good. 🩵🐶

Morning walk done. Now we rest

Took my girl out for a solid morning walk to burn off some of that endless energy. She ran, she sniffed, she tried to herd every squirrel in the neighborhood. Now she's completely knocked out on the floor. Thats the face of a dog who gave it her all and has absolutely zero regrets
