Has anybody passed the FG without a bachelors in Geology?
I currently work in UST remediation, a career path that benefits from a PG. Planning on getting a MS in geology online which would check my states box for exam eligibility. I’m wondering if anybody has managed to pass the FG in a similar situation? My undergrad is in envi sci.
Salary Adjustment for PG
Getting your PG is a pretty common trigger for a salary bump…you're more valuable to the company now that you can sign and seal documents, take on licensed project responsibility, and reduce the firm's reliance on senior staff for sign-offs.
I'm in environmental consulting and from what I've seen, PGs here pretty reliably get a raise when they get their license.
For those who've negotiated a raise after getting their PG — what did you ask for, and what did you actually end up getting?
Results in GA
Has anyone received an email with results in GA? Need something to let my boss know I passed
Scores for FG?
Took the exam in CA and passed, but curious to know the actual breakdown of my score. Will they send anything related to our score? Maybe a breakdown of the core content domains? I’m wanting to see what I can improve on for when I eventually take the PG.
I failed the PG with a 64. My state offers a manual re-grade for $75. Has anyone here done this?
Sorry the image quality isn’t great!
I don’t know if I understand the purpose of a re-grade and if it would be worth it, or if I would just be throwing away $75 for nothing. With a 64, it seems somewhat tempting.
I don’t believe this option is offered in every state, so if you also didn’t pass and don’t have the option to do this, that may be why. The exam review sounds helpful. I might do that.
I tried searching regrade and re-grade in this sub, but didn’t see any particularly helpful results. Anyone have any insights, or know someone who re-graded and then passed? Thank you!
Editing several days after initially posting, just in case anyone comes across this post in the future. I emailed someone on my state board and asked whether they thought it might be worth it to seek a manual re-grade. They said that in their several years of working with the board, they have never seen a score come back changed after a manual re-grade. I hope this helps someone in a situation like mine!!
Just got the email from the Texas Board!
Finally, a mere 52 days after taking the PG exam, Texas sent me an email saying I passed! Anybody know the timeline for being issued the actual Professional Geologist license once all of the forms have been submitted?
How to study for the FG/PG
Soooo I failed the FG and have no idea how to study. Does anyone have tips or want to start a study group or something. I’m feeling LOST. 😞
