GT/UGA one sided rivalry as someone going to tech

First I want to note that I do know that GT and UGA were originally rivals back when GT was in the SEC

So I graduated from UGA last year and went to GT for grad school. I was raised in a UGA household, going to games and all that but I never knew GT considered us their rival until maybe my sophomore or junior year. Sure, I heard comments from GT fans here and there but I thought it was just like normal sports banter like if we were playing Kentucky or something. Then a girl I went to highschool with reposted something a GT meme acct posted about UGA and that was the first time I realized they didn’t like us. I still didn’t realize the extent of it until I started going there.

Now I have insider information 😭What prompted this post is that I mentioned to someone that I went to UGA and the vibe shifted and they told me I had received a “piece of toilet paper from UGA”, I guess referring to my degree. Like ok whatever, id prob talk shit to someone from UF but idk if id let it ruin the conversation… but thats different because we are rivals.. I’ve been at GT for a year and it was my shock that this school, which is known more for their engineering program than football, HATES georgia. I mean I didn’t know it was their MOTTO. At orientation they were trying to hype us up saying “To hell with Georgia” and I was sitting there thinking “why are we talking about Georgia??”

Any time I bring up being a UGA alum, I get people literally upset. Even professors. Over the summer when it was just grad students and faculty, I wore a UGA tshirt on accident and a professor told me that I needed to burn my shirt.. now he calls me “Georgia” in passing- mind you, I’ve never met this professor nor do I know his name.

I think the one-sided rivalry is embarrassing tbh. It almost gets to a point where it’s just flat out bullying. When I tell people here that it’s one-sided they’re surprised but I genuinely think no one at UGA gives two rats asses about anyone at GaTech.

Why can’t we get results sooner

Most other professions get their results the same day 😭 I know they have to take out questions and what not but I was having stress dreams about taking the exam and now I’m having dreams about red triangles and failing scores

i thought the stress was supposed to be over lol

Took the FG today...

Did anyone else feel like it was heavy on engineering? It seemed like there were more questions related to engineering and energy resources than anything else.. Maybe it just left a lasting impression because I was struggling with those.

Also, as an east coaster, I really wish my institution prepared me more for oil and gas questions.

Am I studying right? FG exam

broke grad student here! Taking the FG exam in october over a year post grad. I couldn't really swing paying for RegReview and def couldn't swing the ASBOG prep courses so I bought the Udemy practice course, I have been referencing my old notes from undergrad, and I also kept all my textbooks.

It seems that the general consensus is that RegReview is the way to go. I have less than a month left and now I'm terrified I'm studying wrong.

How hard is it to get a job in mining industry on the East coast?

I am currently wrapping up my final year of my masters with no prior work experience other than an internship during my undergrad at a mine. I've been studying for months to take the FG exam in October and now I'm considering my job options. I really want to stay on the East coast but I have many friends who had hard times landing one, and most of them ended up in Nevada.

I'm not in a place to relocate west so I have been looking around the east coast. I've always been told it f you want a job, go west but I have many reasons that make me hesitate to do so. I do have an in at the company I interned with so If I absolutely cannot find another job that is an option for me.

Just wanted to gauge other's experiences!

Trouble Applying to take the ASBOG FG exam in GA

Has anyone been having issues applying for the ASBOG FG in Georgia? I think Georgia has changed their system and I have not been able to talk to anyone about applying to take the ASBOG exam. I finally got a hold of someone in the Licensing department but she didn't seem like she even knew what I was talking about and guided me towards the application to register as a professional geologist- an application I am not qualified for. I tried to explain this but that's the only app they have on the GOALS site.

I ended up finding an old application that one would mail in but Georgia no longer accept main-in applications. This is just so frustrating and the one friend I have that registered for the fall cant find the original emails that she sent to initiate the process nor can she remember what she did (she initiated the process 6 months ago- probably before they changed the system).
