Kandi Kid Prepping for AGBT 700

My collection of kandi to take to ABGT 700 continues to grow. I love creating these.

I first started making kandi in 2000. I have made thousands of pieces since then. I've made cuffs, bracelets, necklaces, and more. I might just do so again.

In 2004 I went to Rotterdam for Dance Valley and I was the sole kandi kid there at the time. Decked out in my kikwear wide leg pants, kandi up and down my arms, and DJ signed visor, I was excited to share the kandi I created and meet so many amazong people. At the time not many in Europe were kandi kids.

When I left the scene and got sober, I packed that part of me and my kandi, away. It is amazing to reconnect and bring her out after almost 15 years.

I love the community I make when I am wearing these and the ability to share them with the world.

I so look forward to bringing that vibrant young woman back out for this festival.

Tickets

What are the odds of being able to sell my tickets prior to the event? I won’t be able to make it anymore but I also don’t even know when to expect the tickets. Am I able to resell through front gate?

Thoughts on bringing children

I have seen a few kids at many Open Air events. How good or bad of an idea is it to bring ones teenage kid to ABGT 700 at the Gorge for one day? He, especially, wants to see Ben Bohmer play.

A&B Fabric - thoughts, vague setlist and video highlights

Fabric
Always nice to return to Fabric - 5 years I think since I was last there (Jon Hopkins I believe for a rare DJ set). After the deaths at the club, maybe 10 years ago now, Fabric had become notorious for airport style searches, being full of tourists and creepy men.

So it was nice to see some changes since I was last there - in the queue we had a chat from the head of welfare who said safety and the safety of women was their top priority, while the searches and security were light and friendly.

Leena Punx - fairly standard anjuna style warm up, nothing amazing

Above & Beyond - WOW. Wowowowow - and so up stepped Jono (and Tony so another Redditor says) into the booth (it had to be Jono didn’t it?). When was the last time this happened? Jono did a DJ set in London was it over ten years ago now for charity?

I had no expectations for this set - a classics would be nice. We didn’t get a classics but we got something else - just non stop bangers. I really felt he was loving it in there: no screens to type or no matching visuals. It really was all about the music.

First 20 mins no idea - there was a stunning ID around the 20 min mark, maybe new A&B? Did they play it at Silverworks? Trancey roller with a female vocal
J Ribbon - Man on fire
A&B - Feel the vibe
A&B - Always (wow where did that come from?)
Faithless - Salva mea (A&B remix)
Atlantis - Fiji (Oliver Smith remix)
A&B - Jam w/ Alone tonight vocal
AVNT - Brazil (I think)
A&B - Counting down the days
A&B - You got to go
A&B - Hello w/ Stealing time vocal
A&B - Red rocks
A&B - Is it love
Tom Staar vs Delerium - Silence (A&B’s it’s not rocket silence mix)
Mat Zo - Synapse Dynamics (Arty remix)

As much as it’s great to see A&B in theatres and big stages, hearing that music in somewhere like fabric was something else. It’s loud and punchy and thick.

If I’m being picky - Celestial, Crash, AI and Out of Time and Major Drop all would’ve sounded insane in that room. But that’s up there with Printworks, Little Something at Wembley and ABGT200.

Mat Zo - I was a little apprehensive about Mat, which Mat were we going to get: wacky or serious? Turns out we got an insane (and I’m going to say it) almost techno set that didn’t let up for 2 hours. Think peak time club Digweed or Joseph Capriati when they’re in their techno mood. Looping and building and layering - it’s the music you only hear at the club between 3 and 7AM, when the crowd are settled and they’re plateauing. It’s rolling and chugging and it carries you forward and the percussion rattles around the sound system. You can’t see the joins, it flows. And it never sounds as good at home on the headphones. All I know is he finished an hour earlier than stated and closed with I need to feel love.

Last two clips in the video are Mat.

And that was it - shout out anyone who said hello to me (and the guy who tapped me on the shoulder and said ‘it’s coming home’, gave me a wink and walked off). Shout out Adam as well (it was Adam wasn’t it?) in the Grum t shirt.

I really hope Jono/ A&B do more club sets, because that was special. And all that for £17

Above & Beyond - Projection (Extended Mix)

This track has grown on me since i first listened to it. At the time of my first listen, i was disappointed with the overall sound that i could not get to listen to Projection again because I noticed that they did not move away from the souless big room house scene from 2010, feeling this track was outdated. But as i gave in to relisten to this track in its extended mix, it is really a good, well-executed emotion big room house track with the characteristics of retro trance that feels more fresh and soulful that i thought before. The engineering and sound design is stellar and the breakdown and drops were solid. I may have underestimated the track's execution before but now it is one of their best tracks with big room influences and euphoric trance stabs that they were best known for.

AnjunaDeep NYC 7/18

Who is going, where are you coming from?

We are traveling from SoCal. My daughter is coming on this trip and has a ticket but we aren't sure if this will be a show for her. It might be a long day of standing for her. She's a big 8.75 y/o. Any input from those with kids who have gone to Anjuna shows? We saw kids (younger than her) in SD at the a&b concert at the Rady shell and I would have totally brought her to that show had we known.

Is anyone bringing a totem? I think it'd be cool to build an Anjuna A... My friend saw Elderbrook at this venue last month and said "it's kind of small for a totem". Does size matter?

ABGT 700 Glamping: Thursday Arrival

Just an update for others who might be concerned about it. I know there was some discourse last week about the conflict between the glamping being listed as “Thursday to Sunday” but also saying “3 night accommodations”.

I got an update yesterday that our packages now allow for Thursday arrival “at no extra cost”. So it seems the emails they received about the issue were successful. Thanks to everyone else who sent an email inquiry to get it resolved. See you all out there on Thursday September 10th!
