I think XTRA makes the most sense for creators who are on budget but are still picky

I’ve been thinking about this more than I probably should, but I think XTRA is probably one of the better options right now for creators who are on a budget but still care about quality control. Not “I want the cheapest camera I could find” budget. I mean people who actually care if the app works, if the footage holds up, if the color doesn’t fall apart, if the battery doesn’t die at the worst possible time, and if the camera doesn’t feel like a toy after 2 weeks.

That’s where XTRA starts to make sense to me.

And yes, before anyone says it, I know the whole “it’s basically a DJI rebrand” conversation. People throw that around like it’s automatically a negative. But honestly… for this category, I don’t know if that’s the insult people think it is.

Pocket cameras are HARD. They look simple because they’re small, but the actual experience is a bunch of tiny things working together: stabilization, color, battery, storage, heat, audio, grip, screen, app, file transfer, all of it.

Traded in my old hero 9 for an x5 after a dusty color run

I had this old gopro hero 9 for biking, travel, and POV stuff. Took it to a color run once and yeah… buttons and ports started acting up. Still fine for fixed angles, but didn’t wanna rely on it as my main camera anymore.

So I decided to give insta360 x5 a try. With the gopro, had to plan ahead depending on what shot I wanted (handlebar POV, chest POV, selfie view, etc). Now I just hit record with the 360 and I get everything. I can edit later to choose the angle if I wanna crop landscape, portrait, POV, or 3rd person.

Super handy for biking and travel being able to just start shooting and then forget about it.

Action cams are still great for quick, point-and-shoot stuff, but if you wanna capture everything at once without stress then x5 is way more flexible.

Dji action 4 vs dji action 6

I see on amazon that the action 6 standard is discounted for 319€ and the action 4 is 225€. I just want it for holidays i.e kayaking , swimming , snorkling , waterpark etc. Just for my own personal momentos. Is the 6 worth the extra money or 4 is okay ?

What to do with my camera

Hi, I’m trying to figure out what I should do with my camera I bought a while back. I bought an insta360 x3 a few years back for a cruise I was going on but I haven’t used it since and I’m trying to ask for ideas of stuff to use it for. I’m 16 and can’t really drive many places and I can’t roller skate or anything like that. I am in marching band however that’s not for a few months so I’m wondering what to do with it to use it or if it’s just more worth selling it and trying to get some money back. I don’t wanna sell it but if I can’t use it idk what else to do with it.

Thanks

A little advice can you help?

Hi I am looking for a new Camera I need something to connect to my phone there is nothing wrong with my phone camera but I have Musculer distroph so using a on Phone Camera is hard andcann action camera that I. can attach to a lanyard or my T shirt is 1000% easier for me.

so I need:

  1. something light
  2. That can take grate photos and videos even in low light conditions.
  3. dust and water resistant
  4. preffably magnetic.
  5. Works well with Android phones.

I was thinking of the DJI Osmo Nano but I don’t know much about cameras so I could really use some help.

I am open to all brands not just DJI.
So if you could help give me some recommendations thanks.

Money is no object

Go3S Retro list of missing features

Insta360 tech support has confirmed that the Go3s Retro --although being the same exact camera as the standard Go3s-- does not have access to all the same settings and features due to it not having an action pod. It just has the app, which is extremely limited on settings for this camera.

So I'll put that list here of which features the standalone Go3s Retro doesn't have, in case it's helpful to anybody:

- voice control/gesture control
- kids mode
- apple find my
- interval shooting
- video bitrate settings
- udisk mode/webcam
- can't change audio mode
- can't download RAW photos
- can't transfer images to computer via a cable

What to buy go pro or apple watch or anything else

I have got around $500 with me and want to buy something genuinely useful/fun/valuable.

Currently considering:

* GoPro or some other action camera

* Apple Watch

But I a sure the community will have much better suggestions.

What would you buy with a $500 budget that is actually worth it?

I can increase the budget a bit if needed.

For people who bought an action camera in the last year… has it actually been worth it?

Do you feel like you used it as much as you expected? Or did the reality end up different once the novelty wore off?

trying to keep my travel camera setup as small as possible

I’m trying to avoid bringing too much camera gear on trips this year. I used to think I needed a “real” camera setup for everything, but honestly most of my favorite travel clips are just quick moments. Street food, walking around, hotel room clips, train stations, random views, that kind of stuff. So now I’m leaning more toward a phone + tiny pocket cam combo instead of bringing a bigger setup.

I’ve been testing a small pocket cam recently and I’m starting to understand the appeal. It’s not really about having the best image quality. It’s more about having something easy enough to pull out without thinking too much.

The two I’ve been looking at most are Pocket 3 and XTRA Muse. Pocket 3 seems like the obvious safe pick. Muse also caught my eye because it seems smaller-budget friendly and probably good enough for casual travel clips. For people who travel lightly, do you bring a pocket cam, action cam, or just use your phone? And if you’ve used Pocket 3 or Muse, did it actually make travel filming easier?

Which POV looks better? Moving Head Mount or Fixed Position?

I’m contemplating between two different POV for when I stream/make content using my sim rig. Finally completed my triple screen set up and I don’t know which one I like more.

I like POV #1 (1st Slide) for the realism look where I would have a camera mounted on a head strap but POV #2 (2nd Slide) for the more coverage of the triples where I will mount a camera on the corner of my seat.

Would love to hear your feedback on your favorite POV or maybe even other ideas. I do have a body mount as well but it doesn’t give me the same feel or realistic look the head mount does.

The Great Debate DJI Action 6 VS. Mission 1 Pro

Hello!

I am in need of YOUR guys help! I am an avid outdoorsman, and an ameatur videographer/Photographer. When I say ameatur, I mean I do it all for fun, and share it to various social media platforms.

I have ran the hero 13 with the macro lens for awhile. I have loved that a ton, and it's been great! I really enjoy doing night lapses with it, filming, all that stuff! I enjoy the run and gun aspect too. However, it has it's limitations. The low-light has left me wondering if there is better out there.

So, I was about to pull the trigger in a DJI action 6, with the macro lens and ND filters. I felt that current camera this would be great! However, then I saw the release of the Mission 1 series. Man, does that have my attention! My only hesitation is the lack of macro lens. I'm sure something will come out, BUT I've seen the writing on the walls for gopro. Will it be around long enough to drop the Macro lens for the mission 1 series?

If the Mission 1 had the macro lens ready to go, it would be a no brainer for me, but the future of the company has me worried.

What are your guys thoughts here! Do I gamble on the lens for mission 1, or go with the proven action 6?

Enjoy some of my photos from the hero 13 with the macro lens!

Action 5 pro vs Action 6

I am planning to gift my wife an Action 5 pro or 6 for her birthday next month. However, I am confused which one to go for.

My wife takes a lot of videos especially when we are travelling. She takes vlogs for memories mainly and sometimes picks up. A few of those and puts it together as a reel. It’s mostly going to be used for trips and could be used for activities like snorkelling or ATV rides.

Is the square sensor too good that she would be able to have a higher power on choosing what she wants to crop. Or is the 5 pro good enough? I also heard low light is better in action 6.

Please help!

lowkey hope they never release the Ace Pro 3

One of my Edinburgh shot.

Usually just put my Ace Pro 2 in my bag cuz it is small enough and pulled it out to grab a quick snap of this tree. Not until I downloaded the pic to realize how it handled the pinks in the sunset. The colors look like a literal palette🥲

ok now I want them never to release a version 3 (or at least not for this year plz), I am settled for 2 and I hope I am having the best little one forever.
