Insta360 X5 or DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro for Underwater Filming? which product should i buy?

Insta360 X5 or DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro for Underwater Filming? which product should i buy?

planning to buy action camera for underwater filming, im choosing between the Insta360 X5 and DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro for underwater filming. The X5 is waterproof up to 15m, while the Action 5 Pro is rated for 20m without a case.

If both are used with their official waterproof cases, which one would you recommend? Is the extra 5m depth on the DJI actually an advantage, or does image quality and reliability matter more underwater?

GoPro camera for airsoft helmet

Hello, Its my bfs bday coming up and he’s recently getting into air soft, he has got a helmet that has a bit on the front for a camera/GoPro so I would like to buy him one to record his sessions.

I have no idea what go pro/ camera or mount it would need to fit into the helmet, I also would like it to be affordable, and to make sure it’s going to fit and be the right one. Can anyone help me find the right one? Ive attached a picture of the helmet.

Recomendation for (casual) snorkeling

Hello everyone, first post on the sub(just found it today as well).

I am planning a trip that includes a lot of snorkeling. Basically every time me and my wife go on vacations the "beach" time is filled with snorkeling, we choose hotels/resorts based on this.

Despite our enjoyment we don't take it too seriously, we just wander around with a simple snorkeling mask+tube and spend hours a day seeing the marine life.

The past holidays we used plastic amazon bags and filmed with our phones... In the maldives... I promised myself I would not repeat this mistake again so I am looking for a proper action camera . This is what I am looking for:

Price:

Ideal : <300 euros

Accceptable : < 450 (only if very worth it)

Goal: taking videos underwater (1-5m depth)

Desirables:

Ease of use(both hardware and software)

No/low need of buying separate apparel

This last point specifically is important to me, I want to upgrade my snorkeling experience but it is not something I do multiple times a year, I would just love something ready to use that fills my needs.

I have obviously seem the discurse between gopro and DJI but I have no prior experiencr with any action camera so I am open to all suggestions

Thank you very much for your time :)

any tricks to be able to read this through my phone?

i bought a mini body camera but discovered even removing the card, insert into phone, i can't read it.

pc only. my laptop has a broken screen rn. i do have a universal usb to c cord. so i can take the cable from the kit and plug to adapter to phone.

it's the wrong format to read directly from phone.

edit- if there's not an easy work around, please do suggest another camera at $50 that will work on phone and pc. i missed this detail, unfortunately.

Thinking of upgrading my action cam, what’s actually worth it in 2026?

On a recent trip to the Spanish coast with friends, I tried filming some seaside rides, sunset shots, and quick POVs, but the footage was a bit disappointing. Daylight was fine, but at dusk with sky, ocean, and shadows all in the same frame, my GoPro Hero 9 Black started struggling. Highlights blew out, shadows got soft, and stabilization sometimes failed on shaded or patchy trails. The wind was strong and the camera got some sand while we stopped. It still worked after cleaning, but I wasn’t fully comfortable. Many clips needed post-processing to fix noise, softness, and exposure jumps, so Hero 9 is starting to feel limiting for everyday use.

I’ve been eyeing a couple of newer options: dji osmo action 4 pro and Insta360 ace pro 2. The osmo action 5 pro looks solid with stabilization and accessories, while the ap2’s larger sensor and flip screen feel better for travel and handheld POV stuff. The trade-in option also makes upgrading easier since my Hero 9 mostly sits around.

For travel, biking, or everyday POV, which would you pick? How do they actually perform in low light, stabilization, battery, heat, and usability? Any surprises or disappointments after a few weeks of using them?

The $970 Insta360 Luna Ultra I'm NOT Buying

Should you spend $970 on the Insta360 Luna Ultra Creator Combo, or stick with the DJI Pocket 3? After comparing both travel cameras, here's why I'm NOT buying the Insta360 Luna Ultra.

Advice what action camera to buy

Hello, I was hoping you guys could help me decide which action camera I should buy.

I want to film my motocross and offroad/enduro rides so there is a lot of shaking so I would want that to be stabilized.

I also want to mount it on my motorcycle for on the road instagram content.

I’m not so good at editing so an easy editing software is important to me as well

I thought of buying the insta360 X models but in my opinion it’s too big and fragile for motocross. So I would like a typical go pro size. It doesn’t have to be go pro I’m open to dji and insta360 as well.

I don’t need the newest and the best one just good advice which one fills my needs the most.

So to sum up:

- typical go pro size
- easy to edit for instagram content
- good stabilization
- good for motocross/off road and for on road bike adventures

Pocket 3 vs Osmo nano? Which can be a better family camera??

So we are expecting kids, and i want to get a tiny camera easy enough that my wife can handle or I can handle while we are with the kids... Capturing tiny moments and not spending time in handling even the zv e10 that I have..

So wanted to get osmo nano... But then I saw I am getting pocket 3 for same price, has the better sensor gives it the edge as I will record the kids mostly in doors... But again pocket 3 looks fragile than Nano.. I am torn about which one to buy...

I am not a vlogger/photographer just a common guy... What will you recommend for my use case??

DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro contro Insta360 Ace Pro 2

Esplorazione urbana (urbex)
Giri in moto e in bicicletta
Jet ski e altre attività acquatiche
Eventuali snorkeling/immersioni

Totally Stuck on What to Get

Been shopping around for some type of action camera - reading all the threads, watching all the videos (sponsored and unsponsored), thinking through the pros and cons - and am totally stuck.

I want an action type camera for outdoor adventures with animals. Vlogging, hiking, POVs, outdoor farm stuff where I don’t have to occupy my phone. We also might swim in the river with our animals. I truthfully know I haven’t made enough of this type of video to know exactly what I want. I do have the Dji mic minis for my mirrorless so that might matter.

I know that generally my phone does the best video outside a mirrorless camera, but I don’t always want it tied up, worry about dropping and breaking. I am in analysis paralysis and need some real humans to talk some sense into me.

The Options:

Osmo Action 4: Cheap, great auto settings, a bit dated, not great in low light. Worried that in PNW rainforests it would not perform well. Interface seems a little dated. Seems like a good entry level option.

Osmo Action 5: Middle of the road in price, less natural colors/more hdr, better batteries. Connects two mics. One generation behind. I actually bought this and returned it but I also didn’t know as much about settings - I thought overcast weather looked muddy. Not sure if this was just me being a novice.

Osmo Action 6: Even less natural colors, open gate, future proof. Top of my budget. Kind of like the idea of being able to do horizontal and vertical. Seems to minimize fomo but could theoretically maximize buyers remorse. Wish it was cheaper.

Osmo Nano: easier for pov, not sure there are many advantages if I decide pov is not my thing, limited battery life. Less expensive for a newer generation device. Could be a little more versatile alternative to action 5 while I learn what I want in an action cam. Form factor seems like a love it or hate it situation.

360 Camera: great angles for leading animals, seems gimmicky for this stage of my journey of filming. Seems hard to mount POV. Insta360 wouldn’t work with my mics (if this was a 3rd camera I wouldn’t care).

GoPro13: Like the image and amount of detail - warmth and skin tones catch my eye. Company is on the rocks, doesn’t work with mics, requires media mods for simple things (like mics). Really like images in daylight GoPro vlogs.

I am the QUEEN of overthinking (my neurodivergence is really coming out.) I know if I stay in analysis paralysis I just won’t create anything and will waste opportunities to capture what I want the world to see. That said, if this decision is so hard, maybe an action cam is the wrong choice? 🤷‍♀️

Best action camera for a beginner going to the ABC islands and national parks?

This sub is probably tired of noobs like me asking this question but I really need some help deciding what to buy since I want to keep this camera for several years.

As the title suggests, my wife and I are looking for an action camera to go to our cruise to the ABC islands later this month. Mostly will be recording downtown, beaches, and a lot of underwater shots and videos. Additionally, we are on a quest to visit US national parks and want to use an action camera for this sort of thing as well.

I have been looking for the past month and I can't quite decide. I have never really messed with anything regarding photos so talk about video modes, exposure, aperture, etc. You might as well be speaking Siberian to me. (I am willing to learn though).

Our budget is hopefully less than $450 but if we can spend way less then awesome! The cameras that I have been looking into are the GoPro 13 (nice deal at Costco), DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro and the 6, and maybe the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 (also nice deal at Costco).

I have been watching an absurd amount of videos about them all and some say the GoPro, others the DJI, and only one person really said that the Ace Pro 2 is better. So I am stumped. I don't want to overspend on the newest and fanciest Action 6 unless it is worth it and some videos talk about that it's not that big of a deal between the 5 and the 6 and how the 4 and 5 might even be better. Then I get into the 5 vs 13 vs AcePro 2 and some vouch for some and some vouch for others. The Action Camera matcher's top 3 were those latter 3 so I don't know where to go anymore.

I do want to occasionally shoot in low light (late at night at the cruise, cool towns at night, etc.) and the 6 looks so crisp compared to the others so I just don't know. I would love some feedback. Thank you for reading.

TLDR;
Going on vacation to the ocean and national parks, should I spend more on the action 6, or go with action 5, GoPro 13, or AcePro 2?

DJI OSMO ACTION 5 PRO or INSTA360 ACE PRO 2

DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro vs Insta360 Ace Pro 2 – Which would you choose for my use case?
I’m trying to decide between the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro and the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, and I’d love to hear from people who have actually used one or both.
My main use cases are:
City and travel vlogs
Urban exploration (urbex)
Motorcycle and bicycle rides
Jet ski and other water activities
Possibly some snorkeling/diving
YouTube and social media content
What matters most to me is:
The best possible image quality in both daylight and low light
Excellent stabilization
Reliable autofocus
Great audio (or compatibility with external microphones)
Long battery life
Plenty of accessories (helmet, chest, neck mount, handlebars, suction mounts, etc.)
Waterproof performance
If you had to buy only one today, which one would you choose and why?
I’d really appreciate hearing your real-world experiences, including any issues you’ve had with either camera.

Do I need to be as concerned with overheating when using 24fps?

I don't need more than 24fps because I want the cinematic look for my project. Does setting up at 24fps affect overheating, particularly, lessen the chance, or certainty, of it?

Edit: Looking at GoPro Hero 10 if it matters.

I got an early hands-on look at the Xtra Muse 2 Pro, and I’m not sure it feels ready yet

I went to a TikTok Shop event in NYC where Xtra had the Muse 2 Pro on display, so I finally got a chance to see the camera in person.

It was only a prototype, so I’m trying not to judge it like a final product, but I left with mixed feelings. My time using the Luna Ultra has already proven to me that the second lens on these pocket gimbal camera are super fun, so that part of the Muse 2 Pro is still really exciting. It also felt similar in size to the Luna Ultra, and the actual camera housing felt smaller in person than it looks online.

That said, the overall build, software, battery situation, and general rollout made me wonder if this thing is launching too soon. The rep there said early August which I'm not sure it feels ready enough to launch so soon. More details on that in the video linked.

Curious what other people think. Are you excited for this camera, or does the rollout feel a little rushed?

Is a 360-degree camera worth buying in 2026? What are the biggest use cases today?

I'm considering buying a 360-degree camera this year, but I'm not sure if it's worth the investment compared to a traditional action camera.

I know they're used for travel and virtual tours, but I'm curious about real-world applications beyond content creation.

A few questions:

  • What are the biggest industries using 360-degree cameras today?
  • Are they mainly for YouTubers, or are businesses adopting them too?
  • Has AI made these cameras easier to use?
  • What features should someone prioritize before purchasing?
  • Do you think the market for 360-degree cameras will continue growing over the next decade?

I'd love to hear experiences from people who actually use them professionally or as hobbyists.
