Currently travelling around China and having a really annoying issue with our Airalo eSIM.

The eSIM itself works perfectly fine. Data roaming is enabled, internet speeds are good, and apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, Google, etc. all work super fast without any issues.

But for some reason, Alipay and DiDi are EXTREMELY slow. They do work eventually, but sometimes it takes forever to load something or book a ride. It’s especially frustrating because we use these apps pretty much every day here.
Has anyone experienced the same thing with Airalo in China?

We’re trying to figure out what the best solution is. Would switching to another eSIM provider help? Or should we just get a local Chinese SIM card instead?

I am looking to purchase an eSIM for an upcoming 7-day trip to China. I’d like to continue using common social media apps without issue. I have used Airalo in other countries without any issues but I have seen recent complaints about Airalo being very slow in China, and many people are recommending trip.com eSIMs. I’d like to stay with Airalo as it’s familiar and I can continue to collect credits. Does anyone have any recent experience with Airalo or trip.com in mainland China?

I’m in Ireland using my eSIM, and things have mostly been great! I crossed from the south to the north, and back to the south. At some stage (not sure when) my location moved from Ireland to the Netherlands. All my ads are in Dutch, and my location on all websites is also Dutch.

I’m from Australia, not sure if that makes a difference. My primary sim has data roaming disabled. I do NOT have a VPN active.

Would appreciate any and all advice/assistance!

Got the unlimited package. Many times the signal would drop in various buildings to 3g or 4g which was not usable. downloaded audio guide at colloseum one morning and couldn’t use the internet the rest of the morning. I understand that there was a 3gb limit and then it theoretically slows down. I don’t mind slow speed but it didn’t connect at all afterwards. wouldn’t use again.
