Hi all,

I’m in Ireland using my eSIM, and things have mostly been great! I crossed from the south to the north, and back to the south. At some stage (not sure when) my location moved from Ireland to the Netherlands. All my ads are in Dutch, and my location on all websites is also Dutch.

I’m from Australia, not sure if that makes a difference. My primary sim has data roaming disabled. I do NOT have a VPN active.

Hoping to get some perspectives on the Liatris vs Emaris shell fits?

I recently bought a Liatris XL and I am SWIMMING in it. It’s way too big, even for an “oversized” fit. The L has sold out.

I’m looking at getting an Emaris instead - is it similarly hugely shaped? It’s hard to tell on the website. I’m looking for “oversized”, but not “I’m wearing a sailcloth draped around me” kinda vibes.

For reference, I have an atom hoody in L which is quite snug. I also have a Patera Parka (insulated) XL which is great.

Would you volunteer, or would you fight it if you were in Grace’s position?

Ignoring if you have the relevant skills - I certainly don’t. Just more if you’d volunteer for a suicide mission to save the planet.

I don’t know if I’d be a general volunteer but if I were in Grace’s position I’d go. I’m single, childless, and my value system lines up with going and doing the whole self-sacrifice thing.

I like how realistic the book was, however. That Grace didn’t volunteer, and was forced. Humanity is wildly heterogenous, and asking someone to give up their life - even to help everyone else - is a massive ask.

It also doesn’t take away from how much of a good person he is. Even after being forced, and remembering, he didn’t give up on the mission out of spite. He chose to save his planet, and save a friend, at great cost to himself.

I’m curious - if you were in his position, would you go? Would you be sedated and brought against your will, but still follow the mission? Would you sabotage it out of revenge once you remembered?

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on an x100vi, for a trip to Ireland in autumn, leaving in a month. I’m a completely overwhelmed by all of the recipes, and have horrific decision paralysis. I don’t want to mess up the photos for a once in a lifetime trip. I’m wondering if anyone has some good suggestions? I see lots of “summer” ones, and I don’t think they’ll fit the Ireland vibe.

Question is as per the title! Has anyone had any success getting a Northern Ireland birth certificate being sent directly to the UK passport office?

Myself + multiple family members are scrambling for UK or Irish passports. We live in Australia. Mum ordered multiple copies of her birth certificate but they're being held hostage in various UK and Irish passport applications.

I don't think my Irish one will process in time because there are significant delays. I'm trying to get a British one, but am lacking an original copy of my mother's Northern Irish birth certificate. Postal times to Australia are L E N G T H Y, so I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck ordering new birth certs and getting them sent directly to the UK passport office, rather than bouncing via Australia.

I posted my documents with DHL. Paid for it, cleared customs. The passport office has refused to accept the delivery and I have no idea why; everyone is now closed.

My parcel (that I paid $$$ for express postage) is now being returned to me.

Hoping for some advice for a women’s jacket/coat and raincoat. I live in Aus so have little experience with what the weather clothing requirement in Ireland will be.

I’m going for a month in Sept/Oct, and not sure what to buy. All the advice I can see on the sub (similar older posts) is for gear that I can’t find for sale anymore. Unless the names have changed? I haven’t bought from this brand before so please excuse my ignorance.

Does anyone have any recs? I was thinking of an insulated raincoat so it’s an all-in-one, but would I be better with insulation and a separate raincoat?

A big hood is a must - I hate having to wear my hair down just so the hood can sort of fit over my head.

For all the hype about these seats, I am in absolute agony.
The head rest is so strangely positioned and there’s not decent lumbar support, so all it does is push your head forward. It’s tall as well so you can’t get it behind your neck and under your head. Fine for an hour or two, but after 5 hours I’m in absolute agony. My neck and whole upper back are spasming. It would be better if it didn’t exist.

I’m sick of companies telling us things are “new and improved”, but each iteration is just worse and worse, but costs more.

Not to mention the flight being delayed for an hour because they couldn’t figure out how to get the transfer bridge connected, the luggage loaded… and now the sinks don’t work and they’ve told everyone to use handwipes instead.

I’ve missed my connection, I’m in so much pain, and have paid a premium for the experience. Thanks, Qantas!
