Desperate for a menu syd-> Auckland
I’m flying from Sydney to Auckland (and return) on business class in the next week.
I’m keen to see what’s on the food/drink menu. Anyone flown recently/flying this week to share some hot tips?!

Looking at booking a flight from Australia to Canada. Just want to see if anyone has an opinion on if its a good idea to use staff travel for the discounts or if its just too up in the air if Ill get a seat?
Im in group D and believe I still have some high priority flights available if that matters!
Apologies, second similar post. We booked another QF F and this time most of the seats are open. What would be the best seat for a parent with two kids, 3 and 4 years old. 12+ hour overnight flight. Kids are pretty self sufficient, have flown in individual seats before (never on QF first), but will need help during meals and restroom visits. Currently in 1A, 1B, 1C. Should we switch to 4F, 4K, and 5K? Or move back and take 3A, 4A, 5A if it opens before departure or ask if still open at airport?
Qantas haven’t updated their cancellation policy for travelling through the Middle East in months. They’re still only offering free cancellation up until the end of May.
We’re travelling on the 5th June and if we were to cancel ourselves, even though the government advice is “do not travel” we would lose hundreds of dollars.
We have since made other arrangements through Asia, but it means we’ve paid for two sets of flights.
Virgin has offered free refunds for months ahead - why isn’t Qantas coming to the party? The only communication we’ve received from them is just recently with our flight changing completely, departing 12 hours earlier.
I have called them several times and they can’t give me any answer for travel from June, even though it’s days away. It just seems poor.
I’m a QF pilot. AMA. Reposted with photo.
We have a six-hour lay over in Sydney flying home to the US from Queenstown in February 2027. It appears to me we do not need a visa for this time. Are we able to access the Qantas business class lounge from the part of the airport in which we need to stay to not have a visa? Thanks.
I’m booked to fly back this morning and received this message last night about the inflight and wifi.
I know it’s a short flight and I’ll probably watch stuff on my phone anyway, but I really felt it was another quality Qantas move to trim the customer experience more and save some bucks.
Guess I’m disappointed as a frequent flyer and just more generally as an Aussie, given this our “National Carrier”.
Welcome thoughts.
(Also same problem on the way down to Brisbane, yet no curiosity text?).
>Almost a dozen years to the day since Qantas opened its Los Angeles business class lounge, a major revamp has seen the mid-century modern look swapped for a fresh Californian coastal vibe.
The makeover has also delivered a much-needed boost in capacity, with a more space-efficient layout now accommodating 570 seats, up from the previous 500.
That alone will be welcomed by business class passengers and mid-tier frequent flyers – including Qantas Golds and Oneworld Sapphires – on the many Oneworld flights departing from Tom Bradley International Terminal, aka TBIT or more simply Terminal B.
I’ve flown both a few times over the past year and it honestly feels like the gap between them is way smaller than it used to be. Qantas still has the stronger reputation internationally, but domestically I sometimes struggle to justify the price difference depending on the route
it was supposed to start in 2025, then got pushed back to Feb 2026. now we are almost in June and there has been absolutely nothing.
is it still happening ?
This is a Diecast representation of me and my wifes’ flights when we visited Australia last December. All of the Diecast planes are 1-200 scale. From left to right: Our American Airlines Embraer 175 flight from Sioux Falls SD (US) to Dallas. Then, our 787-9 from Dallas to Melbourne. Followed by our A330-300 from Melbourne to Perth. Then, our 737-800 from Perth to Sydney and our A-380 from Sydney to Dallas. We got back on an Embraer 175 to finish from Dallas back to Sioux Falls. The size differences are pretty distinct. I know there are a lot of problems with air travel and many stories about Qantas in this thread, but we really had a great time on our once in a lifetime trip down under. Cheers!
I booked a premium economy sale ticket on Qantas from Auckland, NZ to Albuquerque, NM, USA for ~$1000 a person. I can’t remember why, but I booked through the chase portal with my sapphire reserved card (it was the same price as in Qantas). My original email from Chase says the flight is going to be on a Boeing 787-9, which has a premium economy section. A couple of months ago I got an automated notification that I was downgraded, but when I called Chase they couldn’t figure out why I got that email and what was happening. Today, I noticed my flight has changed to an Airbus A330-200 which has no premium economy section. Why has this happened? It seems this flight (QF15) is always operated on an Airbus A330-200. I’m feeling like I got scammed. Any advice when dealing with Chase?
If I book the American airline codeshare flight will I be charged the Qantas baggage fee prices? American Airlines 2nd bag fee is $150 vs Qantas $300+ per bag
Hey folks, who knows if I will get an answer in time but thought I’d try!
I’m flying on QF5 Per-Rom this evening. I have a connecting flight Rom-Athens. All booked through Qantas under the same booking. The last flight is on a different airline and it’s not a codeshare; I was told when I checked in for my first leg that I needed to check in with that airline at FCO.
QF5 is delayed 3 hours. It is scheduled to arrive in Rome an hour after my connecting flight departs. Current line via messages, email and app is “we’re monitoring your connection and will let you know if any changes are needed”. Staff in Perth have said the same.
My understanding is that, since it’s all under the same booking, this will be 100% on Qantas to resolve, but I’m feeling nervous about the prospect of landing in FCO and it suddenly being nobody’s problem since I’m technically not checked in.
Extra complication: my baggage has been checked through based on the original times and bookings and I now have no idea what to expect!
Has anyone had a similar experience - specifically about a connection on the same ticket but non-codeshare, extra points if in Rome? I’d just really appreciate knowing what to expect and how best to troubleshoot if needed.
Paying standard economy pricing and then being asked to shell out an extra thirty dollars just to pick a seat that is not a middle row at the very back of the plane feels incredibly cheap for a full service airline
Trying to book anything for the upcoming school holidays and it is a total ghost town. Even looking nearly a year in advance for standard international routes yields almost nothing unless you want a twenty four hour layover in a random city
Hi all,
I've booked a classic reward seat booked on a one-way FCO-DXB-PER flight. (one ticket).
I'm concerned about the ever-evolving situation, inc getting stuck in the UAE with voided travel insurance, aside from obvious safety concerns.
There's a direct qf-operated FCO-PER on that day +2 that I'd like to be on.
I've called on two occasions, but the reps are telling me they can only change me to another reward seat, but none available. Cash/commercial seats are still for sale.
(There's bugger all reward seats left at all for nearby airports, and those few also transit dubai).
I was under the impression that smarttraveller status changed to 'level four: do not travel' in the last month, but have since found it was actually in late Feb. (this was my 'sell' to get them to move me to the QF operated direct flight instead, currently selling one-way seats for A$2700)
I'm absolutely sure there's more the reps are empowered to do, but not sure how to make it happen or how to direct/coach them.
I'm willing to travel from another nearby airport - Milan, Venice etc, and don't mind too much if it adds another stop.
Is there anything I can do?
Do I just have to buy a commercial seat on another airline?
(Bonus question, any issues transiting Istanbul at the moment?)
TL;DR
- reward flight booked on March 30 for late June FCO-DXB-PER
- misunderstood when govt advice changed
- no longer want to transit dubai
- direct flight FCO-PER avail on same date (paid seat only, nil rewards avail)
- posted policy implies changes possible
- rep on phone says nothing they can do, tried twice
- what can they do?
The Qantas 747-400, queen of the skies. I really miss seeing this plane around. So glad I got to fly on one before they retired. There was just a special aura these older planes had that newer ones can't quite capture. It was a true workhorse. #Qantas #747 #QueenOfTheSkies #Aviation #Nostalgia
