Can a tablet replace a laptop?

I have an old X270 thinkpad, and Im wondering if the galaxy tab S8 could replace it, I want to use the tablet for note taking and my main concerns are:

  1. Would the writing experience be good enough that the tablet is not just a glorified netflix machine
  2. Is there any software differences between android and windows that I might have not thought about
  3. Im not used to buy used tech, so any advices on where to get the tab S8 and how to not get scammed basically :D

i currently have an acer aspire A515-54 series but it's starting to give up on me
