Best Vine drop in four years

Best Vine drop in four years

First post on Reddit so a bit of a newbie as it comes to these, but given the audience I just had to share this win. I've been on Vine for four years now and agree with many other contributors that with all the new Vine members, the quality and quantity of great Vine finds has decreased substantially. I remember when useful items in my RFY were an everyday occurrence and there were typically 100K+ items in Additional, such that it was well worth browsing the first 10-20 pages anytime I logged in. While these days I have to order more 'so-so' items that I may or may not use to maintain Gold, today was an extraordinarily welcome reminder of why I do so. I've gotten some great things in the past, don't get me wrong, with highlights including a top-notch espresso maker, a portable A/C for the summer and enough wall art, side tables and artistic pieces to really spruce up my apartment. That said, it's been a while. I've been in the market for a quality laptop and figured I'd wait until Black Friday this year ... until randomly checking in about twenty minutes ago. This wasn't even in my RFY, but dropped in my Available for All section where anything useful generally gets scooped up before I can even click on the details. After a lightning fast check on the specs - managed to pick this puppy up. Looks like a tremendous display .... and with 16 gigs of RAM and a high quality AI processor, this is far superior to anything I would have purchased. It's been a week, so man did I need this lift!!!

Vine gotten a little better in the past 3 months?

I have noticed in the past 3 months that on some days I am getting slightly better items. But what I have really noticed is that the more desirable items showing up on my RFY page are not instantly disappearing after a few moments. Has anyone else had this experience or noticed a change?

Blow Torches Galore!

For some reason, there are THREE blow torches on my RFY. I have never purchased a blow torch from Amazon, let alone gotten one from Vine before. I have no idea why this was recommended for me 😂.

Why was my post Not Approved?

Edited to say that it was rejected for violating community guidelines.

What did I do wrong here? Here is the review I wrote:

I was at first excited to receive this set as I’ve been using regular sponges that don’t have the scrubbing power that stainless steel has, but when the product arrived, I was very disappointed.

The product description states that I would receive four scrubbers total with two scrubbing handles, but there were only two scrubbers total both mounted on their handles and no replacement scrubbers.

At the current price of $21.99 I cannot justify this expense when it only comes with two scrubbers. I am very disappointed that the product description is misleading.

I also included a photo of the two scrubbers.

Order Confirmation, All Green, it was Mine, Then it Was Not

After the damage was done, I told my wife we should have gotten a screenshot. I also know this is due to the new "grabbing" ordering matrix, that the ordering system shows "Order Confirmed" it a "tie" then the system narrows it to the Plank. My wife grabbed a men's large pink Oxford dress shirt. Got the "Order Place" Confirmed screen, Green to go. Looked in the Order List, not there. I am only expression frustration that this happens and letting new ones know, it this happens and it will happen since Amazon changed their grabbing "ordering" matrix. But I really needed that shirt. I went from 236 to 170 and I am still trying to rebuild my clothing.

Thumbnail vs. actual

We need a flair for "egregious vine listings". Now I know that the thumbnails are often a variant of what is actually offered. But the difference between these two was SO DISAPPOINTING.

(Photo 1 = thumbnail; photo 2= actual offering after clicking See Details)

I am sure my fellow Augtober Halloween enthusiasts will agree.

Also, whoever nabbed the Evergreen Halloween 3 Witches, congratulations 😭

Get your Bottom out!

I thought it was a typo, but I was unable to review it because Amazon PULLED it and the ETV was returned.

Yup… Ass Shovel Hoe. 😂

I clicked on it without realizing what it actually was—it’s a handheld hoe! And that little piece is just the spare bolt and nut in case the other one breaks.

I doubt this piece of junk will last very long anyway! 😂 Rats! A MISSED opportunity to review!

Pinch me!

I’m usually offered some of the weirdest things that I’ll never use and since my evaluation period started July 26th it’s just been a lot of nonsense. Today while out with my grandma getting our nails done I checked just for giggles when she asked if I’ve found anything cool lately and here this was! 649.00 is crazy and I’m hoping it does some absolute magic on my face.

What I’m most excited for is the acne treatment portion as I have some pretty bad scars from when I was super anxious and would pick for comfort.

I hope everyone is finding some cool things too!

Another Robot Vacuum

I’m posting this simply because I see so many posts on this sub that mention lousy RFY. This is my 4th robot vacuum.

Wow!

What?! You mean even lil old me can do it? Well bless my buttons! I'll take it! But what if I break a nail while installing it?

I can't mention that the product received was filthy and unusable...?

I had a review rejected because I explained how the product was received - dog boots that were filthy and that even washing did not remove the dirt. I posted pictures of the problem. I won't put them on my dog - ever. I can't wear them.

How am I supposed to review something that was received filthy and unusable?

Time to play "How big is is really"

Slim pickings lately, but I can always use more storage options. FWIW, I'm pretty sure they have a couple of the dimensions swapped—in addition to the AI rendering proportions issues—and it's 31"H, 34"W, 18"D. But I'm prepared for it to dominate my garage if I'm wrong about the AI. 🙂

"Here we go again…" A newbie dares to speak. Let me save you the downvote

Let me go ahead and get this out of the way for you so you don’t have to strain your fingers typing it:

“Use the search bar!” “Did you even read the FAQ?!” “Oh look, ANOTHER post about ETV, I’m so exhausted!”

There, I did it for you. You can all relax now.

Can we talk about the absolute superiority complex some of the "veterans" in this sub have? We get it. You’ve been in the program for five years, you know exactly how to review a merged listing, and your garage is overflowing with 0 ETV cake toppers and castor oil packs. You are basically Amazon royalty.

But the way some of you gatekeep this sub and aggressively downvote anyone who asks a question is wild. Heaven forbid a new person gets dumped into a confusing program with massive tax implications and vague Amazon rules, and comes to a community forum to ask for help. The sheer horror!

We all had to start somewhere.

If you are all genuinely this traumatized by seeing repetitive questions on your feed, here is a wild concept: Keep scrolling.

Or better yet, since the mods here are actually pretty great and doing their best, maybe you should petition them to change the pinned FAQ to include a giant, neon warning sign that says:

"WARNING: If you ask a question that has already been answered, you WILL be targeted with extreme snark, mercilessly downvoted, and treated like an idiot by the Vine Elites."

At least then people would know what kind of welcoming committee to expect before they post.

Until then, maybe take a deep breath. It’s a subreddit about reviewing free junk from the internet. It’s really not that deep.

Feel free to downvote this to 0. I know it’s the highlight of your day.

Spotting red flags: $120 inflated ETV, broken templates, and photoshopped gems

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a classic example of an over-inflated listing full of red flags. If you're new to Vine or trying to protect your tax burden, always scroll past the shiny main photo and check the fine print!

💎

Here is what jumps out immediately on this "18K Gold Birthstone Necklace":

❌ The $120 Price Tag: $119.99 for a basic birthstone pendant from an unknown seller is wildly inflated.

❌ Broken Listing Specs: Under the "Features & Specs" section for the December option, the seller lists Color: A12-December, but the table explicitly claims

Gem Type: No Gemstone,

Material: Base, and

Metal Type: base.

The product title claims "18K Gold," but their own spec sheet admits it's cheap base metal with no stone.

❌ Photoshopped CAD Renders: The main image is just a digital mock-up, and the lifestyle photo uses a completely different shade of blue than the isolated product shot. They just photoshopped a single template image for every month.

December Birthstone Confusion: They're listing a generic bright blue stone for December. December actually has four recognized stones: Turquoise, Blue Topaz, Tanzanite, and Blue Zircon. Zircon can have a brilliant electric blue-green flash (similar to fluorite or that beautiful greenish-blue color on my mom's small childhood ring from the late '40s!). Instead, these sellers just toss in cheap, mismatched blue glass or cubic zirconia for both March and December.

Reading through Discord and Reddit threads has saved me so much headache on things like this. Always check the item details table before you hit request!

What are the biggest red flags that make you skip a listing immediately?
