"The provided app group is invalid" error when using AltStore to install Apollo Reborn.

Has anyone else run into this? I have AltServer running on my Windows 11 PC and have successfully installed AltStore onto my iPhone 17 Pro running iOS 26.6.2. But every time I try to install Apollo Reborn I get that "group invalid" error.

I have Apollo Reborn currently installed on my device via Sideloadly. I installed 3.6.0 last night.

Has anyone run into this, and do you understand what this error means and what I need to do to fix it?

Apollo Reborn 3.6.0 — Gallery View everywhere, live interactive posts, feed video scrubbing, a redesigned icon picker and more

TL;DR

Apollo Reborn 3.6.0 is a big feature release.

Gallery View now works on Home, Popular, All, Moderator Posts and any user profile — with real video controls and rotation. Reddit's interactive posts (live match threads, games, and other Developer Platform widgets) render inline instead of the "not supported on old Reddit" placeholder. Inline feed videos gained a scrubber you drive from the progress bar itself, plus an option to let feed videos play with sound.

The app icon picker has been rebuilt around browsable pack cards with a daily-rotating Spotlight, and any icon can now be pinned to its Light or Dark artwork. Apollo's Goodbye wallpapers are back for iPhone, iPad and Mac. There's also a configurable Share Link Host, a Blur NSFW Media setting, new swipe gestures, new and overhauled app icons, and a large batch of crash, theme, media and performance fixes.

Answer a few questions about your device and Apple account, and the guide will pick the installation path that will actually work for you — complete with step-by-step instructions.

Which variant should I use?

  • Apollo-Reborn-3.6.0-GLASS.ipa — the iOS 26 Liquid Glass appearance. Most people on iOS 26 will want this.
  • Apollo-Reborn-3.6.0.ipa — the standard build without the Liquid Glass interface.
  • GLASSICONS variants — include the Liquid Glass icon pack.
  • NOEXTENSIONS variants — remove the app extensions for signing setups that require fewer extensions.

Not sure? Try the GLASS build first.

✨ Headline features

Gallery View everywhere

Gallery View is no longer just for subreddits and multireddits — it now works on the Home feed, Popular, All, Moderator Posts and any user profile, opening that listing as a filterable media grid.

The grid also gained real video controls (play/pause, ±15s, a scrubber with time labels, pinch and double-tap zoom), rotates properly on iPhone, and inherits whatever sort the feed you opened it from was using.

Your own profile now has a "..." menu too — it holds Gallery View, Edit Profile, Recently Read, hidden and deleted content, and Share Profile, so the floating Edit pill and the nav-bar clock and eye icons are gone and the header is a lot cleaner.

(#904 — @icpryde)

Live interactive posts

Reddit's Developer Platform posts — live match threads with scores and commentary, games like Pixelary, and other custom widgets — now render inline in comments and in the feed, instead of showing the "This post contains content not supported on old Reddit" placeholder.

Detection is generic to any Devvit custom post, not tied to a specific app. It's opt-in under Settings → Apollo Reborn → Posts & Feeds, with a separate sub-toggle if you want the widget in comments but not in the feed.

Community Highlights and the feed also stopped fighting over pinned interactive posts, so a subreddit's pinned daily discussion can render as a live widget in the feed while everything else pinned stays in the carousel.

(#920, #939 — @icpryde)

Feed video scrubber and Unmute Videos in Feed

Inline videos already drew a thin progress bar along their bottom edge. Now you can grab that bar and slide to seek — no press-and-hold, no opening the player. It works in the feed and on the post's own video at the top of comments, across every inline video type.

Alongside it, Unmute Videos in Feed lets feed videos play with sound, with Never / Always / Remember modes — Remember follows the last thing you did with the mute button.

Both are off by default, so nothing changes unless you turn them on.

(#938 — @icpryde)

Redesigned app icon picker

The App Icon screen is rebuilt around browsable pack cards instead of a long list, with a Daily Spotlight row that rotates five icons each day, an adaptive grid that widens on iPad, and clearer selection state, borders and haptics.

There's also a new Icon Appearance menu — Light, Dark or System — so you can pin any icon to its Light or Dark artwork instead of it always following your phone's appearance.

(#912, #941, #894 — @IllIIllIllIllII)

Goodbye Wallpapers

Apollo's farewell wallpaper collections are back, under Settings → Wallpapers: 32 iPhone, 32 iPad and 36 Mac wallpapers, with a full-screen viewer (paging, pinch and double-tap zoom, interactive dismissal) and one-tap saving of the original image straight to Photos.

(#947 — @IllIIllIllIllII)

🚀 Smaller features

Share Link Host

Choose which Reddit-compatible host Apollo uses when sharing links — Reddit, old.reddit, vxReddit or fxreddit. It's respected by Copy Link, the share sheet and Share as Image, and only the hostname is rewritten.

(#857 — @JamesLautner)

Blur NSFW Media

A local setting for Apollo's native mature-media blur, with Reddit Setting / Always / Never. Unlike the Tag Filters overlay it keeps the post title readable.

(#874 — @jordanearle)

New swipe gestures

Swiping past the first or last image of a feed gallery now goes back or forward instead of rubber-banding, and you can swipe between Notifications and Chat in the Inbox — which also stopped the Inbox title sliding around when you switch tabs.

(#934, #900 — @icpryde)

Prefer Native Images

A new option under Comment Link Host: comment images upload through Reddit's native media upload wherever a subreddit allows image comments, so they render inline on every client, and only fall back to the link host where image comments aren't allowed.

(#952 — @icpryde)

New and overhauled app icons

A new Right to Repair icon, a refreshed Synthwave, and a full overhaul of the Classics pack with more faithful Liquid Glass recreations plus new Stonewall, Sloth-Kun and Sandals 'n Socks artwork.

(#888, #915, #927, #928 — @IllIIllIllIllII, @bajader)

Settings

Icon-Only Tab Bar moved under Settings → Interface, alongside the rest of the tab bar options.

(#867 — @JeffreyCA)

🔧 Fixes

Custom themes

Fixes the issue a lot of you reported on the 3.5.1 thread — with a custom theme and Pure Black Dark Mode on, nearly all primary text (post titles, comment bodies, usernames) rendered at the muted grey level. That's fixed, so you no longer need the Pure Black workaround. Also fixes the GIF and gallery-count pills rendering white-on-white on dark themes, Recently Read opening with a black background and mis-sized stats, and the remaining settings rows that ignored a custom theme's text colour.

(#860, #869 — @JeffreyCA, @DeltAndy123)

NSFW blur

Also from the 3.5.1 thread: Apollo's native NSFW blur ignored your Reddit preference on API-Key-Free accounts, so mature media never blurred in the home feed no matter what you set on reddit.com. Fixed, along with the Search tab pill painting its light-mode colour on dark themes.

(#866 — @jordanearle)

Hidden web views leaking video ads

Some of you saw a fullscreen Reddit video ad take over the app out of nowhere. That was our own code: five background scrapers (Community Highlights, Badge Book, Social Links, User Flair, the sidebar) loaded a live reddit.com page in a hidden web view, and when Reddit served a promoted video there, WebKit promoted it to its own fullscreen window above the app. Fixed.

(#908 — @jordanearle)

Crashes

Fixes five crashes reported against 3.5.1 — Filters & Blocks Edit and the Tag Filters toggle, switching accounts from the Inbox, token refresh, and Liquid Glass nav titles — plus a crash on malformed multireddit responses, and the theme kill-switch wrongly disabling a custom theme after a force-quit or an iOS prewarm.

(#864, #897, #923 — @jordanearle, @icpryde)

Community Highlights

Fixes highlights getting stuck at two entries when Reddit serves its bot-challenge page, excess padding on the collapsed bar, and the layout snap the first time you open a subreddit.

(#925, #926 — @icpryde)

Media and previews

Fixes images being cropped in multi-image feed carousels, link previews rendering as mojibake for pages in a legacy charset (EUC-KR, Shift_JIS, GB18030, Big5), tweet previews not rendering at all after x.com changed its guest-token flow, and Picture in Picture taking over for silent v.redd.it clips in Unmuted Videos Only. More sports clips play inline too, across MLB, streamain, dubz and streamin.

(#873, #922, #929, #944, #950, #951 — @icpryde, @DeltAndy123, @JeffreyCA)

Subreddits list

Fixes A–Z scrubbing going dead mid-drag on non-Liquid-Glass builds, and the black bands behind section headers.

(#936 — @icpryde)

API-Key-Free and AI

Fixes mature listings returning the placeholder user on API-Key-Free accounts configured with a custom User-Agent, cloud AI Summaries failing on newer OpenAI models, and bounds streaming responses so a malformed endpoint can't exhaust memory.

(#887, #889, #890 — @Thetromboneman1, @jaredrossberg)

Performance

Scrolling and launch are smoother — shared state synchronisation is tighter and cache serialisation and image decoding stay off the critical path.

(#859 — @ryannair05)

Does this mean a new type of API lockout is coming?

I don't use any scripts or any other API using apps, so it can only be talking about Apollo

Feedback on some of the new features (swipe for comments, fast forward)

First of all, I want to thank the devs for their work extending this, and I realize it’s free work. I flailed this as feature request for lack of a better choice, but I assume you folks do this partly to refine your ideas and it fits. I also realize everything I might dislike can be disabled easily.

1: the swipe up in gallery feature to show comments is a bit janky imo. For one thing, it fights my natural instinct from years of using Apollo- tap on something I want to zoom in, then swipe up to get it to go to normal and swipe up again to continue scrolling. I’m not precisely sure what the best ux here might be, maybe an option for swipe direction (even if it foists the question off to the user). All I know is swipe up as the action makes me disable it every time

2: on a related note, when I do have such comments enabled it takes a bit to load them. IMO prefetching the comments could improve the experience, if I want to swipe to quickly see the comments, having to then wait is counter to that goal.

3: disabling this feature in settings is doable, but the location of it in settings is a bit obscure. I think mentally you tied it to the new “gallery” feature where it is maybe more relevant (with no way to access comments otherwise) but it also occurs when browsing a regular feed

4: unrelated to the above, but the fast forwarding videos feature is really nice, but I find it being restricted to the right half of the screen unfortunate. I think other apps let you do this holding the left half, and I personally often one-hand my phone in my left hand.

Thanks for all the work!

Apollo Reborn is coming to Mac.

We’re still a little way off sharing anything concrete, including timelines, what it will look like or how it’ll be distributed, but we’ve been keeping one more thing quiet.

Apollo Reborn is coming to Mac.

It’ll be a thoroughly Mac-assed Mac app - this isn’t simply the iPad app running on macOS. It is designed specifically for macOS and built around the features, interactions and little platform conventions that make a Mac app feel like a Mac app.

There’s still a lot to build, so we’ll have more to share when it’s further along.

In the meantime, work on the core app very much continues: we’re hard at work on 3.5.2, and hope to have fixes out soon for some of the bugs and crashes people have been experiencing.

For now, consider this your teaser. 👀

Sidestore not showing update

I recently got this problem in this post, but now it wont even show any update/free button. Sidestore shows the update on some pages, but I cant updated even though I installed it using the official download links. Any one has suggestion whats to do?

Content randomly stops loading every so often

I’m experiencing a strange issue where, every so often, Apollo stops being able to load comments, posts, search results, etc. even though Reddit itself is still up. If I wait a few minutes, it typically starts working again, but it’s just really weird that it keeps doing this. I tried turning off deleted comments, but that doesn’t seem to have made a difference. I’m on the latest version of Apollo Reborn (glass icons version).

Found a workaround for inaccessible search boxes

Go to Settings>Apollo Reborn>Interface and change Header Style to blur or soft.

Your search boxes should be accessible again. It’s working for me, anyway.

Theming and read posts

Is there a way to edit a theme so that read posts are dimmed like they are on the default Apollo theme?

u/Traherne — 8 days ago

First look: Apollo Reborn’s new iPad layout

We’ve been quietly experimenting with a proper iPad experience for Apollo Reborn, one that makes much better use of the larger screen, with a native iPad sidebar, multi-column browsing and a dedicated post view.

It also takes advantage of more of the features that make iPad apps feel at home on the platform, including keyboard shortcuts, menu-bar commands and other iPad-specific interactions.

There’s still plenty left to build and refine, but we wanted to share an early look at where it’s heading.

To set expectations, this is currently a back-burner project rather than an imminent release. Stability, performance, crash fixes and improvements to the core app remain our priority. We’re hoping to make the new layout available as an experimental option in an upcoming update, giving people the chance to try it early while we continue building and refining it.

Thanks to all the people who have suggested ideas for the iPad layout or requested it on our various platforms!

Apollo Reborn 3.5.1 — Swipe Through Galleries, multireddit upgrades, vote breakdowns, private crash reports and more

https://preview.redd.it/bkoh62e751ih1.png?width=4040&format=png&auto=webp&s=d460aa44bb7d1424a73e5556604797d632ca2aea

TL;DR

Apollo Reborn 3.5.1 is a feature-packed follow-up to 3.5.0.

You can now swipe through gallery posts directly in your feed (and swipe up over fullscreen media to open comments), multireddits gain Gallery View, in-app renaming, descriptions and custom icons, posts show approximate vote breakdowns, and a new private, local-only Crash Reports system helps you send us better bug reports without anything ever leaving your device automatically.

There's also a clearer Header Style picker with a new progressive Blur option, an opt-in Apple Translate sheet, full-screen subreddit banner and icon viewers, improved AI Summaries model pickers, Apple Vision Pro hover and multiwindow support, four new Liquid Glass app icons, and a large collection of crash, memory, media, layout and posting fixes — including several for the iOS 27 betas.

✨ Headline features

Swipe Through Feed Galleries

Gallery posts can now be paged through directly in the feed card — no need to open the post to see every image.

Cards size themselves more intelligently as you swipe, transitions into fullscreen are seamless, and a new Swipe Up for Comments gesture opens the real comments screen right over fullscreen media.

(#805 — @jordanearle)

Multireddit upgrades

Multireddits now support Gallery View, can be renamed and given descriptions directly in the app, and can carry custom icons.

There's also a new option to hide multireddit descriptions in the Subreddits list if you prefer a more compact layout.

(#799, #837 — @icpryde)

Vote breakdowns

Posts now show an approximate breakdown of upvotes and downvotes, and your own comments include author-only insights.

(#802 — @jordanearle)

Header Styles

The Scroll Edge Effect setting has been replaced with a clearer Header Style picker, and a new progressive Blur option joins the iOS 26 Soft and iOS 27 Hard styles.

(#843 — @jordanearle)

Private, local-only Crash Reports

Apollo Reborn can now record crash reports entirely on your device.

Nothing is ever sent anywhere automatically: reports stay local unless you open one, review exactly what it contains, and explicitly choose to attach the sanitized report to a bug form. You can inspect the exact JSON that would be shared, and delete reports at any time from Settings → Privacy → Crash Reports.

This should make it dramatically easier to diagnose the crashes that are hardest to reproduce.

(#824 — @jordanearle)

Apple Translate

An opt-in setting lets Apollo's post and comment Translate action open the native Apple Translate sheet on supported iOS versions.

(#812 — @DeltAndy123)

View Banner and View Icon

Subreddit headers gain full-screen View Banner and View Icon actions, with tap-and-hold access to customization options.

(#845 — @icpryde)

🚀 Smaller features

Search improvements

The Search tab supports pull-to-refresh for subreddit discovery, trending results respect their limits reliably, and Random NSFW Subreddit is now its own row.

(#788 — @JeffreyCA)

Better AI Summaries

Cloud AI Summaries gain searchable Gemini and OpenRouter model browsers, working defaults, provider attribution on generated summaries, and clearer service errors.

(#778 — @jordanearle)

Easier-to-find settings

A reddit.com Web Sign-In row now lives under Accounts & API Keys, and the Apollo Reborn hub gains a Theme Manager shortcut.

(#855 — @jordanearle)

Apple Vision Pro

Apollo gains gaze and pointer hover effects plus multiwindow support when running on Apple Vision Pro.

(#759 — @rebelancap)

New Liquid Glass app icons

Four new Liquid Glass icons — Original Apollo, Halo, Aloppo and Pixels — join the picker, and the Apollo Classic, Helios and Jryng artwork has been refreshed for iOS 27.

(#784, #800, #804, #819, #842 — @IllIIllIllIllII)

More reliable Open Reddit Links in Apollo

The recommended automatic Safari routing has moved into the Link Companion app, while the manual and legacy fallback extensions are retained for setups that need them.

(#786 — @jordanearle)

🔧 Fixes

Networking and media reliability

  • Remove avoidable stalls, bound caches and concurrent downloads, preserve animated album media when saving or sharing, and make uploads and share-link resolution more resilient. (#728 — @ryannair05)

Comments

  • Fix newly posted or edited comments appearing blank or incomplete until the thread is reopened — including missing usernames, flair, scores and timestamps. (#808 — @icpryde)

Crashes and memory

  • Fix major crash and memory regressions affecting video-heavy threads, translated or recovered comments, native video comments, and profile-tab long presses. (#796, #823, #829, #844 — @icpryde, @jordanearle)

Gallery and media

  • Fix silent hosted videos, ignored NSFW blur preferences, iOS 27 menu crashes, frozen search-result videos, and blank or permanently compact link previews. (#767, #769, #781, #789, #807 — @jordanearle, @JeffreyCA, @icpryde)

Profiles, subreddit headers and themes

  • Fix flickering and layout issues including unreadable context menus and duration pills, indistinct read posts, uneven row highlights, misaligned profile cards, stuck refresh offsets, and Pixel Pals drifting behind the Dynamic Island. (#846, #848, #849, #853 — @icpryde, @jordanearle)

Posting, translation and moderation

  • Fix long composer titles, an unsafe Text editor Post button, untranslated media-post bodies, poll flair, search state, long translated titles, and incorrect moderator-row routing. (#780, #793, #795, #835 — @jordanearle, @icpryde)

Lists and navigation

  • Fix lists becoming stuck beneath the tab bar on iOS 27 or hiding their final rows on standard builds, and smooth out legacy hide-bars transitions. (#821 — @jordanearle)

Keychain

  • Prevent account recovery and Settings Backup from triggering repeated keychain passcode prompts. (#777 — @jordanearle)

🧪 A note about iOS 27 betas

This release fixes several issues reported on the iOS 27 betas, including lists getting stuck beneath the tab bar and media context-menu crashes, and adds the iOS 27 Hard header style.

Beta behaviour can still change before the final release, so remaining beta-only issues are prioritised when they prevent the app from working, risk data loss, or appear likely to remain in the final version. We will keep testing as Apple releases further betas.

🐛 Found a bug? Want a feature?

You can submit a bug report directly from inside Apollo Reborn — and with this release, you can now optionally attach a sanitized, fully reviewable crash report to it.

Reports and requests can also be submitted through the website:

Best installation method for iOS 17.1+ with Dopamine 3 jailbreak?

Back on iOS 16, with TrollStore, installing the IPA or Apollo Reborn was the best way to get Apollo working without having to deal with resigning.

Now that I’m on iOS 17.1 and TrollStore doesn’t work, what’s the best way to get Apollo? -using a .Deb? -sidestore/altstore with 7 day resign? -something else?
