Register Code to make an artfight account?

Hello!! My friend was trying to make their first ArtFight account and when they tried to do so they were hit with a registration code..

I have an idea on why they added that (probably the AI sloppers)

But I have no idea how to get them a registration code.

Domian Castro Commission Scam - Artfight

(Reposted from r/paypal)
Hi everyone! Recently had an encounter with a commission scam here on Artfight, unfortunately not long after finally deciding to open commissions (something I'd been on the fence about for a long time). The scammer went by David003 (though has now been banned) on Artfight & rice780 on Discord (presumably still active). I have also provided a screenshot of their Email. I'm not sure how common this is on Artfight or if it's anything new, but just in case I thought it was best to post.

I was approached by them on Artfight in DM's & was commissioned to draw a cat that (at the time) I assumed was their pet. I was slightly confused as the image was a kitten (ginger & white), I'd assume that if someone wanted a pet commission it'd be a memorial thing for an older cat, but anyway. Really I should have asked for more photos of the cat then, but was waiting until I completed lineart to start colouring, not even sure if this was a real cat. Other people who have encountered this scam under the same paypal name (presumably Domian Castro) that I saw were sent images of people instead, so they target multiple types of artist! Originally they did actually request that I draw a person, but I turned them down as I only draw feral & thats when they sent an image of a cat instead. At the time I assumed maybe the human character was just an anthro version of this cat or something, but I never saw it so I can't be sure. Their language surrounding my art seemed kind of clueless also (if that makes sense? I can provide more explanation in the comments if needed) & it did make me a bit unsure, but I have dealt with people like that before for smaller commissions & it was fine, just odd language use.

After I sent traditional rough sketches over for choosing a pose they liked, I requested the first part of the payment (half of the original £8). Until they started talking about being really appreciative of me taking the commission on & that they were willing to send me $500 to "support my art" or something like that. Instead of the £4 I told them they needed to send, they 'sent over' $500 & started asking if I had recieved it & also sent a screenshot of their transaction (which was almost definitely fake).

After they 'sent money over' (supposedly $500, massive overpay for an £8 commission, by the way), the pressing me to check spam, the tone of the email, etc etc & seeing no money in any account I had I was suspicious. I checked online if anyone else had ran into this & promptly blocked them after seeing a few posts on here describing the same thing.

I'm a slightly paranoid person & was just wondering if after blocking these people there should be anything else I should worry about in terms of them being able to contact me/hassle me further? All they have is my email thankfully & I've blocked them on all platforms they contacted me on (Artfight, Discord, Email) & reported them where I could, but I need my mind to be put to rest! Also, that money doesn't exist,, right?? & My Paypal/Bank account won't be penalised?? If anyone has dealt with this before I'd love to hear from you!

Copy paste of their email provided below for said scam (which I have reported also). Thank you to everyone on this subreddit whose dealt with this before & anyone commenting on previous posts about this scam, you saved me a possible £800 just ahead of a big upcoming life event where I could really do with keeping my money! I'm not sure how long these sort of scams have been active but I figured it's best to post anyway. Stay safe 🙏

Their Email, recieved in my spam, after they allegedly sent $500:

"Domian Castro sent 500.00 USD
NOTE: The only solution is to follow these instructions.

There was a slight problem depositing money into your account.

You received a payment of $500.00
(Domian castro) deposited USD, but since your account status is not a business user, this amount exceeds your limit and a limit has been applied to your account, so there is an issue with depositing the amount to your account.

You will not be able to deposit funds into your account until your account limits are increased.

NOTE : You must take this emergency action to extend your limit.

To pay an additional $300.00, please contact the account sender (Domian castro).
When you increase your account limit by depositing USD into your account, a total of $800.00 USD will be immediately credited to your account.

(Domian Castro) has also been notified of additional payments that need to be sent to your account.

**Note** : You will be refunded **$300.00** .
The sender will immediately return the USD and send it to you.

*Thank you for your interest in this issue.*

Don't see money in your account?  Don't worry. Just follow our instructions and reply to this email if you need assistance."

End of their Email.

Art fight questions

I have this original species that I'm still working on, and I'm wondering if I can submit this as a character, as a "Creat Your Own OC." I wanted to do it this year, but I was afraid it wasn't allowed, and I kinda forgot.. I'd have all the info needed on the character profile.

I'm just wondering if it's allowed or if ppl would be interested and actually attack?

🎭Submit your favorite attacks of this season to the Artfight Attacks ZINE🎨

🌈☁️Did you draw an attack for artfight? Yayyy! You can submit that to this zine, which is then submitted to a game jam!
-
Artfight ATTACKS 2026 is a zine celebrating artfight & the attacks people make for others! An introduction/index page of everyone participating will be made(by me! unless someone else crazy about graphic design really wants to do it) to be put at the start of the zine.

🌾 Zine will be compiled into a pdf & flipbook versions, then uploaded to Cede’s Artfight Aftermath Jam ( https://itch.io/jam/artfightjam ) by a vague estimate of August 25th, so ideally you would send your art before/on August 10th so I have time to look over things and put it all together! Final zine will be formatted to be read in the browser as a flipbook as well as available to be downloaded as a pdf(free, of course)

🚫 Restrictions: Not interested in working with anyone who uses/endorses generative ai(& it’s against AF rules), anyone under 18 years of age(nothing personal! I’m an adult & prefer to work with other adults), no hateful or pornographic content(also against AF rules).

Your piece(s) should be (width)2400px by (height)3400px! Export your photo/image to a canvas of these dimensions. If the drawing is too long to fill it out completely, consider adding another drawing or two, or fill in the space with a background/frame. Or just leave the empty space, that’s also fine!

🌱 How to Apply: Fill out the form https://forms.gle/6HAiuxGT4UNKQiCVA Applications open until aug 25th(updated), more details in the form! This zine is just for fun so very high chance you'll be accepted

Can I post attacks I made on other social media??

Hi! When Artfight started, I didn't have any art accounts on social media, so I didn't write on my profile that I would post my attacks anywhere else. But now I'm thinking about creating an account and would like to post some of them. Would it be okay to do this without notifying the artists I drew for? Or should I tag them if they are on that social media platform? I don't know what to do...

Sorry if my writing is confusing, English is not my native language!

*Tysm for all the advice!! I'm gonna check every character owner's profile, and if there are no restrictions, I'll post it with credits (the owner's Artfight nickname, and I'll try to add a link to the character's profile too if the platform allows it). I'll also add to my bio that I might post my attacks on other platforms. Thanks again for your help!! ( ◜‿◝ )♡

looking for characters to make an animation for next year !

Soo yea! Idk if I should wait til next year to make a post like this lol but I rly wanna have time to plan if I find any characters that spark my interest heh! Characters with

  • cute or interesting dynamics,
  • not too overly complicated designs (I leave out like 99% of details in my animations 😭)
  • and if u even have scenes u imagine with them, or a bunch of lore!! I love sprinkling in references to that yayyy

Please leave a commentt here and a link to ur ocs!!!!! ill check them out

The vid attached is an amv attack I made on a moot & kinda like an example of what Ill do ,although this one was a bit rushed and janky in parts 😢 But next year I rly wanna try to make something more impressive ahhah

Also yes this is also kinda just an ‘attack display’ thing cuz even tho I am a little iffy with certain scenes, it was rly rewarding(& assuring) to see my moots reactionnn heh! and I also wanna be a little more involved (?) with like yea idk lol

and congrats to comedy btw for winning this year!!! Seeing all the art and community was amazing. art fight is so so cool dude

Reference Sheet Etiquette Question(s)

Context: I joined ArtFight before this last round (2026), however, due to external factors I was unable to finish any character reference sheets or participate in general -- I am now finding myself more able to work on the sheets, and am looking to crowdsource answers to questions regarding proper reference sheet etiquette

My current basic understanding: Each reference sheet should include: a full-body shot with limited-to-no shading, color swatches of main aspects/colors, and close-up shots of details

Questions:

  1. If I have a full body with no shading, is it still proper to exclude the color swatches? Due to there being no shading I would assume the ability to color-pick would be unimpeded and therefore the swatches would become obsolete (?)
  2. For most of my characters, exact colors are nonspecific -- how would you indicate that the intent should be similar but the color(s) used (regardless of how lighting would affect it) are open to interpretation? For example, one character has a similar coloration to honey (they are made of a slime-like material, not flesh) and so color-swatches seem a bit oversimplified due to the translucent nature of honey (?)
  3. Follow-up to the previous question -- if including intent instead of swatches, would you (as the viewer of the reference sheet) prefer a short-hand on the image (for example: a small cartoon drawing of honey) and a longer (if necessary) explanation in the character bio, or do you (as the viewer of the reference sheet/bio) skip over things such as the bio therefore making a disclaimer on the character reference sheet artwork more effective?
  4. Less about the art, and more about the bio: do y'all enjoy / intrigued by / interested in the reasoning behind parts of the character design -- would people read about design choices, or would that be skipped/useless? I ask because, similar to the previous questions, I have generic/broad sweeping ideas that become a character but that means a lot of information/design choices are not "set in stone" because it was filler to finish the piece, and therefore completely up for redesign/interpretation. To reword the question, would you (as the viewer/artist) prefer a character that has a very narrow scope (do not change anything) or a very wide scope (more options for how to draw/create the character) ?

I think that is all for now! Thank you to anyone who replies with opinions/advice!

Repost - 2027 hitlist (there was some issue with the form opening)

Setting this up early so that I can plan my attacks and make a schedule for myself next year as that was my downfall this year haha.

Feel free to let me know if there are any issues or if something is confusing in the form as I'm more than willing to change it.
