War graffiti on the walls of an abandoned Iraqi Police station in Tarmiyah, Iraq 2007
1: This was on the wall of an abandoned Iraqi Police station in Tarmiyah, Iraq when we took it over as a Patrol Base after conducting RIP/TOA with 1-8 CAV. No idea the story behind it, but insurgents did drive a truck bomb/SBIED into this station and conducted a complex attack that nearly overran it earlier that spring. The Soldiers of C/4-9 Infantry fought (and died) at PB-North for eight months before moving north IVO Tikrit.
2: Another piece of wall art from Patrol Base-North in Tarmiyah, Iraq circa 2007. This was drawn by either the IZ Police before they abandoned the building, or insurgents when they briefly occupied it unopposed. Tarmiyah, like many small forgotten cities/villages was a very violent place in the AQI 'Baghdad Belt.'
3: Last pic from Patrol Base-North in Tarmiyah, Iraq. This was drawn by a Soldier from C-for-Commanche Company, 4th Battalion 9th Infantry Regiment, who conducted combat operations here from May 2007 to January 2008.
