I love the way the fins are used as rests on this new to me Snapper. She’s a nice one.

Wembley Ware, 1946-1961, Australia. The eye isn’t quite perfect but the rest of it is. The colours play really nicely in the light. I don’t know why it took me so long to target this tray with all the ceramic fish I have. I’ve always liked it, I think it’s just been a case of something rarer or more fairly priced whenever I’ve had the money. It’s not particularly hard to find, there’s always a few for sale across the various sites. I never felt there was any need to rush for fear of missing out but now that I’m seeing it IRL I realise my collection always needed the Snapper tray. With their lustre they always look better IRL than in a picture, the lustre doesn’t dance in the light in a still picture.

Yard sale find from this weekend

Charming little boxer dog ashtray. I don’t smoke but couldn’t resist picking this up

Clip on ashtray from my great grandparents.

I had a set of four originally, I think two pink and two yellow. Kept in the same drawer as the fancy dishes my whole life.

Goodwill score

Scored for 2.03 at the Goodwill. Never seen one like this, the feel is ceramic? I love it very much, thought ya’lls would appreciate!
Also 2.03? It definitely made me want it more for the random price

I’ve upgraded a placeholder ashtray. Text explains.

This particular tray is quite common but the frog paint must have been low quality because the paint on the frog is always worn away and damaged. I purchased one with a typically poor frog as a place holder until a perfect one came along. Five years later that still hasn’t happened.

This week however, I found one with a better frog than I’ve ever seen. It’s not quite perfect but it’s likely as good as I’ll find. I consider this new tray a placeholder for a perfect tray but I’ll be unlikely to find one better and I’m a bit delighted to have found this one. It’s not an expensive tray, just one that means a lot to me due to the long search.

It’s a happy day in my house, I wish the same to all reading this post. Collecting can bring moments of joy.
