The smaller plants are all cuttings a bit under a year old. I prefer a bonsai influenced pruning, as you can see in the pic of the mother plant. I always prune harshly but cut a bit too much back at the start of summer, it now being the end of autumn. No major drama of course, I was just a bit too enthusiastic that day and I’ll live and learn.

I got these for my wife because I love her.

The glove is made by BPBA which is the Chinese Professional Billiards Association, they seem to make cloth and gloves. They aren’t cheap but in Australia are about half the price of the TAOM glove that also has a nice pink glove available. The double stitching won me over, even expensive gloves are notorious for their lack of durability.

The pink chalk is very cool. You pay a bit extra but you pay through the nose for TAOM to start with and it’s not much extra over that. It even came with a nice little case for protection in storage or when travelling.

I love this wall clock, I thought I’d share while it was down for a battery change and dusting.

It’s a sturdy clock with a bit of weight to it. The surround is timber of a very deep red, close enough in colour to the table so that they look great near each other.

I really like the look of my drawer top in picture 1 but practicality dictates (pic 2) a key bowl and balance requires the vase. Or does it? Too cluttered?

The bowl is just one in a beautiful light salmon that I saw on eBay. I generally buy nice looking pieces with wear or an indiscreet chip for key or trinket bowls, you can’t use good stuff knowing it will likely get damaged. This bowl was clean but it was only $5 so I don’t feel bad using it, it’s got a nice look.

The elephant is from the markets of either Hong Kong or Singapore in the 1970’s when my late aunt holidayed there. It’s beautifully rendered, a really nice display piece.

At the back is an incense stick holder with an incense burning disc and bowl. I thought they themed well with the elephant without clashing with the other pieces. As I say though aesthetically I like them most without the vase or bowl.

On the right is a wedding gift. It’s a Royal Doulton Saturn vase and I really like it. It sits well amongst a wide range of decor backdrops and adds a bit of quality and sophistication to the display as a whole. That’s always nice as a fixed low income earner, if you have something you consider nice it’s good to get your money’s worth out of it. And as I say, that vase really appeals to me. It weighs a tonne, a lot more than you’d think. Being clear saves the space from feeling cluttered but others may disagree.

After four years I couldn’t help myself, I attached the chalk holder the table came with. Kind of like a mullet for the table. The Mrs doesn’t approve.

He has random nice old stuff all over the place including a really nice Furphy tank. That will only mean something to Australians but it’s one of the coolest and most prized collectable items you can own in Australia. They were the tanks used by our army in WWII and gossip traveled with the tank. To this day if someone is telling you something of dubious origins or truth it’s said they’re telling a Furphy. Bugger it, I’ll go out o the beer garden and photograph it.

I’ve added the photos and Greg mentioned to me that he has the original tap too but doesn’t have it on as it’s too easy to steal and super sought after. Anyway, enjoy the trays and very random other stuff.

Yeah I know the obvious question, why don’t I wear my wedding ring all the time. I’ve gone from 96kg to 69kg since late last year and it falls off if I’m not careful. The Mrs is team captain so I’m hiding nothing. Also I’ve fought back to 73kg so the weight is heading in the right direction.

The watch is my good one that I like to wear if going out, even if it’s just a Monday night inter-pub competition. Unfortunately my daily driver, the Seiko 5 sports in the second picture is not working so there’s no decisions to make there. My “good watch” isn’t super expensive but it looks higher end than you’d expect at the price point, you could easily wear it with a black tie suit, in fact I have. The face catches light beautifully.

The zippo’s are my daily driver (street chrome) and my two nice ones. Both are gifts from daughter, one from a holiday to Japan, the other from a holiday to the fourth reich. Just kidding, I quite like Don but have no idea how I’d perceive him if American and living there.

I know it’s a try hard little routine but I feel a bit professional as I quietly put the watch and ring on and select my zippo.

The directional cloth is four years old. It’s showing some wear but it’s mainly just discolouration like where I’ve photographed the racking area.

The leather conditioner (the Kiwi Dubbin) is overkill but we have it for boots so why not. It just protects and softens stiff leather.

The legs wet a pain in my back, literally. I ended up sitting on my bum to clean the lower timber, I just used one of the cloths and the supermarket brand spray and wipe. I polished the pocket chrome too.

The cloth was brushed with the direction of the cloth, away from balk.It takes forever. Same with the Dyson but I only give it a once over with the vacuum. It’s the only way to get rid of the coal dust. I then brush it again but a quicker brush this time just to ensure it’s all as good as can be.

A nice wooden scoreboard is inexpensive too and always adds to the look of a pool room, or pool middle of the house area in our case.
