First Christmas Cactus, found for free on the side of the road with no dirt. Which pot is the best size? And how deep do I plant it?

I've grown mostly orchids before. I read these do well in a mix of orchid bark and soil, so I made some to put it in. My question is, which pot do I choose? I think for root ball size, the yellow might be better, but I worry the plant is big enough it might tip over. The yellow pot has no drainage hole, so it would have a plastic nursery pot so I can dump out excess water. The terra cotta pot seems too big for the roots? But it would most likely be more stable. And then I don't want the base of the plant to rot. Is it okay to cover multiple sections under the soil if those ones have roots?

Repotted my christmas cactus cuttings and put them in a new spot. Is the sun too intense here? This is near a west-facing window at 6PM.

Sad “Easter?” Cactus help

Hello. I am sorry I dont know the right terminology. I’ve had this cactus for about 5 years, I believe it is an “Easter” cactus. The “leaves” are very floppy and thin and limp and wrinkly. You can easily bend the “leaves”. In an attempt to improve its wellbeing I repotted it in a mix of potting soil and heavy amount of perlite. I moved it to my most sunny window of morning indirect light. Should I trim off the more limp “leaves” to help the rest of the plant thrive? Any other tips?

For comparison, I have a couple of “Thanksgiving“ cactuses and they are not limp like this one. The branches stand upright and the “leaves” are plump and kinda hard. Not floppy and not bendable. They also flower every year. I water and fertilize them all the same.

Christmas cactus advice

Hello, I was gifted this Christmas cactus back in 2019 as a cutting from a 60 year old plant. It bloomed once but the flowers fell off shortly after. Since then its budded a few times but never fully bloomed. I’m thinking about repotting it in the same pot with orchid mulch and moving it to the bathroom where it would get ambient southern light. Or it could remain in the kitchen with direct southern light, and I’d try to remember to close the shade every afternoon. Another option is the living room which has north facing indirect light but its much cooler and drier which might be the least ideal place for it. I have always struggled with this plant and would love to see it bloom next year. Any advice/recommendations are welcome!

Help me save this cactus?

Hi everyone. This cactus belongs to my wife and, from what I understand, was propagated from a cactus that has been in her family for several generations. Over the winter its been crushed almost to death by our cats. What can I do to save this cactus? We have pots and I picked up some miracle gro cactus, palm & citrus Potting soil. Anything else I need or should get?

What can I do to save my cactus?

My son got me this cactus, it was much more full and lovely but I left it outside for too long and this is what I have left after cutting back the severe damage. I want to repot this weekend with a proper pot and soil. I’ve been looking at how to trim and repot online and the only thing I can’t figure out is where to pinch the segments. As can be seen here it is very leggy and no real delineation of the segments. I don’t even know if it’s a Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Easter. Any advice is appreciated!
