I need some help and advice, stalled growth and dropped blooms, looking to promote growth and bushing out.

Put this arrangement together around last Christmas for my partner. Have been watering it when soil is dry and it’s loved in a northwest-west facing window. During the spring I noticed some small flowering buds show up but they never really bloomed and have shriveled up and fallen off for the most part. The ends of those clades look dried up and rather tan, and have longish, thin hairs coming from them.

There are 3 different plants in this pot, I saw the different varieties at my local gardening center and thought it’d make for a nice bundle in a pot once it grew in and bushed out.

Looking for advice on pruning and fixing the (apparent) stalled growth. I notice some new growth but not nearly as much as I’d expect for summer months leading to a fall bloom cycle.

Thanks in advance for y’all’s help friends!

I put her out for some winter sun, then fell asleep before the wind picked up…

It’s all good, nothing got snapped or damaged, she’ll just be a bit lopsided until it corrects itself sheltered from the wind.

Thanks for your help! Before and After

Thanks to the wonderful advice of this sub I am sharing 6 months after taking your advice. I can't believe what a difference repotting, trimming dead growth, getting better drawing soil, and adding plant food has made. 🌟🌿

Can I save this wrinkly Easter Cactus?

Not sure what is going wrong with this cactus as I have 2 others that are doing fine. Only difference being that I left this one in soil mix until I transferred recently. But, seems to be getting even worse. How much light do these like? Maybe reservoir is too low (using diy pon with wicking and super thrive foliage pro) Help

My single section propagation is growing!

My cactus went through for a rough phase for a while where it was dropping lots of sections (it’s doing better now). I tried propagating almost every section out of the 10 or so that it dropped, and this is the only one that didn’t go bad during the propagation process and it sprouted tiny roots. I put it in its own tiny terracotta pot and now I noticed these new grow points after about a month! So exciting

What is happening to my plant?

Hello all!
My plant is about five years old and suddenly this week I noticed it loses parts. They just fall down on one side. Is my plant sick? Is there a way to save it?

Can This Orchid Cactus be Saved?

*Not a Christmas cactus, it is an orchid cactus which is a tropical plant, but Reddit was not letting me select my own sub*

About a week ago, its soil was dry and it was raining in the morning so I decided it was a great idea to take it outside. I was not going to be home for the day, so I thought of nothing since it was raining quite a bit. When I got back home, I noticed it was

sunbleached so I rushed to take it inside.

I was worried for the sunbleach at first so I looked up tutorials on how to prune it. I learned pruning it immediately was a bad thing to do, after I pruned a lot of its leaves. I repotted it more than 24 hours before posting this, and I put it back onto my wardrobe where it thrived before, I also have my own custom light for it.

Please tell me what else to do, or if it is even possible for it to go back to normal.

Generations

Mama, about 50 years old, it's become impossible for me to transplant as it's too heavy now and I have become physically disabled since I received it 30 years ago in a small pot. The next picture is 2.0 propped from mama and unfortunately has been slightly neglected due to my health, it also needs to be transplanted and I am going to get help to transplant these beautys. Everytime I transplant them they just seem to exhale and double in size over night. 2.0 flowers in an orange red colour while mama is bright pink. Slightly different lighting. The next picture is 3.0 from same mama and next picture is 4.0 and I'm in the process of propping a 5.00 which I will put in soil today. Last 2 pictures is the same plant which was gifted to me and I am waiting to see her flower. When I was able, I found transplanting mama the first time very daunting but learned that they are strong and resilient enough to handle it even if a few leaves fall off which I learned are very easy to propagate. They are Thanksgiving cactus so they bloom from October to about March and have never disappointed.

Repotting a Christmas Cactus

Dear community, I have a Christmas cactus that’s worrying me. It’s been in a 27-cm-diameter planter for about five years, which is three-quarters full of soil. The cactus measures 80 cm wide, 60 cm tall (including the rootstock), and 55 cm deep. It blooms profusely in November/December and March/April. My questions: Should I repot the cactus, and if so, how should I go about it? I’m afraid the cactus will shatter into a thousand pieces when I repot it. Thank you very much for any helpful tips!

My Thanksgiving Cactus pushed out a three sided leaf

It’s so cute and I love the sun stressed edges on it 😍😍

Mutation leaf.

Hey there! One of my plants has a mutation. Does anyone know if, propagation would help reproduce the shape?

Is my easter cactus dropping a baby leaf cause for concern? Can I propagate it?

It gets bright indirect light all day, I water maybe once a week when it’s dry. It’s in a bathroom with a shower so it gets humidity. I’ve only had it for about 4 weeks and it’s in 50/50 mgrow succulent soil and perlite. Thanks!

To prop or not?

I bought this lovely cutting online about 6 or so months ago. It took ages to finally sprout some new leaves, and now some more are emerging 😍 but I’m wondering if I should chop and prop to make it bushier, or leave it at it is for now until the new leaves have matured for a bit? Thanks in advance

This pot was out for waste collection on the side of the road, the plant was a tiny cuttings from a friend.

I got about ten pots but the two pictured are super nice with an attractive glaze and matching trays. The plant in the bathroom is about the size the kitchen Christmas cactus was when I got it. It split so I ended up with two, I’ve pictured the twin last.

A Self-Watering Success

This is my first post in the sub and fully aware this may be a divisive one.

I received a small piece of Christmas cactus from my neighbor in 2024 (last picture) and it pushed out one bloom that Thanksgiving. It was very slow growing to begin with, until I broke up the single leggy piece, rooted them in water, then potted into a self-watering pot (pictured).

Based on everything I've read, a self-watering pot is not "ideal" for a Holiday Cactus. But, I had an extra one I had from my violet collection and was the right size (4" circumference) so I went for it.

To say it has been a success would be an understatement. The plant is currently pushing out a new segment every 1-2 weeks, has beautiful corking at the base, and is filling out rapidly.

I fill the reservoir once a week with a distilled water and liquid fertilizer during the growing season (April through September), and keep it next to a SE facing window. I haven't pruned it since potting in the self-watering pot, but I will after it flowers this year.

If anyone is struggling with their Holiday Cactus, I would encourage you to try a small, self-watering container. I know this goes against most advice (to keep the soil dry-ish), but this just hasn't been my experience.

Has anyone else out there had success with their Holiday Cacti in self-watering pots? Would love to hear your story!
